In parallel with the advancement of technology and use of the term the knowledge society, realizes it is people who do not know sign to the satisfaction surveys and readings. Some teachers and school librarians concern itself only with the guidance in the acquisition of skills for the use of technological resources in tracking information. Forget that the environment of the library, more than its physical space, must reach the homes of students, classrooms and other contributions of teaching materials. Therefore, it is answering questions such as: The librarian knows who is a mediator? As has been the mediation? The librarian accompanies technological change, inserting them into their daily lives do? The virtualization of the information facilitates the use of sources / resources research and the ability to select information and expand knowledge? The study aimed to: assess the perception of the librarian as its responsibility in daily mediate the search school, regardless of the environment in which it is; examine the attitude and technical skills / knowledge of the librarian in mediation of the search in a time of growing virtualization of documents; verify the process of the use of technological resources in the search for information; identify the existence of partnership between librarian and professor in the practice of research school; obtain subsidies for proposals for projects / activities aimed at finding solutions to the search school reaches its objectives. Intent is a theoretical through the relevant literature and to collect data applied to be a focused interview with the professional librarian in six schools of basic education of the city of Londrina.

La médiation urbaine, un champ émergent qui participe à la construction sociale des métropoles / "Urban mediation", new practices involved in the social construction of cities

Meralli-Ballou, Maël 25 September 2014 (has links)
This research aims to examine the emergence of new practices creating images of territories. Contemporary developments, including the metropolization, result in significant changes in local socio -spatial systems. The gap between administrative and functional areas is extending. Beyond the search for a possible match between these two types of territories, we assume that the gap between the representation of territories and reality leads to new problem areas. The lack of adequate territorial markers prevents the emergence of shared representations of the metropolitan territory. With the prism of the concept of mediation, we propose a new category of action : Biennial, “European Capitals of Culture” , “Nuits Blanches” , many devices that are intended to construct representations of the metropolitan scale . We opted for a definition of mediation as a principle of construction of society, through the creation of sustainable common references. In this context, “urban mediation” brings all new features in order to rethink representations of territories. We accept a renewal of practices due to major changes induced by the metropolization .In this context, we propose a first analysis of 77 actions to highlight the common features of these new devices. In a second step we focus on the context of the Lyon region: we highlight the local process of structuring such actions under the institutional fragmentation. The problem then focuses on the distinction between metropolitan entrepreneurs and local actors, the term mediation reveals the tensions between public interest and community interest, building territories and power.

Mediation Analysis with a Survival Mediator: A Simulation Study of Different Indirect Effect Testing Methods

January 2017 (has links)
abstract: Time-to-event analysis or equivalently, survival analysis deals with two variables simultaneously: when (time information) an event occurs and whether an event occurrence is observed or not during the observation period (censoring information). In behavioral and social sciences, the event of interest usually does not lead to a terminal state such as death. Other outcomes after the event can be collected and thus, the survival variable can be considered as a predictor as well as an outcome in a study. One example of a case where the survival variable serves as a predictor as well as an outcome is a survival-mediator model. In a single survival-mediator model an independent variable, X predicts a survival variable, M which in turn, predicts a continuous outcome, Y. The survival-mediator model consists of two regression equations: X predicting M (M-regression), and M and X simultaneously predicting Y (Y-regression). To estimate the regression coefficients of the survival-mediator model, Cox regression is used for the M-regression. Ordinary least squares regression is used for the Y-regression using complete case analysis assuming censored data in M are missing completely at random so that the Y-regression is unbiased. In this dissertation research, different measures for the indirect effect were proposed and a simulation study was conducted to compare performance of different indirect effect test methods. Bias-corrected bootstrapping produced high Type I error rates as well as low parameter coverage rates in some conditions. In contrast, the Sobel test produced low Type I error rates as well as high parameter coverage rates in some conditions. The bootstrap of the natural indirect effect produced low Type I error and low statistical power when the censoring proportion was non-zero. Percentile bootstrapping, distribution of the product and the joint-significance test showed best performance. Statistical analysis of the survival-mediator model is discussed. Two indirect effect measures, the ab-product and the natural indirect effect are compared and discussed. Limitations and future directions of the simulation study are discussed. Last, interpretation of the survival-mediator model for a made-up empirical data set is provided to clarify the meaning of the quantities in the survival-mediator model. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Psychology 2017

Mediação e judiciário: condições necessárias para  a institucionalização dos meios autocompositivos de solução de conflitos / Mediation and the judiciary: pre-conditions for the institutionalization of mediation within the courthouse

Daniela Monteiro Gabbay 01 April 2011 (has links)
The main issue of this work is the institutionalization of mediation within the Courthouse and the pre-conditions for having a good relationship between mediation and the Judiciary. This issue is analyzed from both procedural and institutional points of view. The procedural perspective falls on the mediation due process (minimal but meaningful due process standards) and on the differences between the procedural and substantial justices. The institutional perspective falls on the design of the Court-Connected Mediation Programs and on the roles of the players who participated in these programs: judges, mediators, plaintiff and defendant, attorneys, and Court workers. An empirical research was also done about the Court-Connected Mediation Programs in Brazil and in the United States.

: typology of a peacemaking activity in violent political conflicts in the post Cold War era

Dieckhoff, Milena 23 November 2016 (has links)
How can we understand, interpret and explain international mediation? Is it possible to distinguish several types of international mediations? The growing use of international mediation since the end of the Cold War and the diversity of actors involved in this peacemaking activity explain the need for clarification. Combining theoretical considerations and case studies, we therefore propose a typology based on the distinction between a political, an expert and a societal mediation. These types are constructed through an analysis of the various ways of conceiving conflict, peace, and the rationality of mediation, the different mediation practices, and finally the diverse functions that mediations can have with regard to the conflict and the mediator. In a second part, we demonstrate that the limits of the typological exercise shed light on problems and stakes common to all mediations. We question the limits of our types in relation to the unique macro and micro contexts in which mediations are carried out. We then define “mediation complexes”, characterized by the co-existence of several types of mediations or the changing character of a mediation over time. Lastly, we reflect on hybrid mediations, which combine characteristics from different types, and emerge from the discrepancy between discourses and acts as well as between expected and obtained effects.

Techniky používané při mediaci a terapii v kontextu sociální práce / Techniques for mediation and therapy in the context of social work

Machková, Kateřina January 2016 (has links)
The objective of the thesis "The technique used during the mediation and therapy in the context of the social work" is to describe the techniques used in the Czech Republic. This thesis focuses on the specific terms, which extends the common understanding of the basic information about the mediation described in the 2013 thesis "The mediation in the social work". The theoretical element describes the most common techniques sometimes compared to the therapy, which exists within the social work as a mediation. Anintegral part of the theoretical section is also the family mediation chapter, which is the most common area of mediation in the Czech Republic. Other topicsdescribed are the problem of the mediators ethics, the mediators style and the alternative methods of conflict solutions. The practical section of the thesis consists of personal attendance on the mediation exams at MSp CZ and active mediation techniques training. This part is concluded by an own questionnaire on topic of public awareness about the mediation. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Distant Suffering : A multimodal analysis of the politics of pity in news agencies’ mediation of the chemical weapons attack on Khan Sheikhoun

Thornberg, Jack January 2017 (has links)
This thesis explores of how American and British television mediated the crisis that started with the 4 April 2017 alleged chemical attack in Syria and culminated with the subsequent attack on Syria by the United States 7 April 2017. It builds upon a rich literature and focuses on the politics of pity in the mediated representation of distant suffering as set out by Luc Boltanski. The thesis utilizes a methodological approach which merges Lilie Chouliaraki’s ‘analytics of mediation’ with Roxanne Lynn Doty’s view of discourse analysis. The results find that CNNW mediated the distant suffering based on ostensibly a priori knowledge, whereas BBC News was more inclined to guide the spectators along a line of investigative reasoning.

Médiations documentaires et médiations identitaires dans une communauté de savoir en ligne : le cas de la blogosphère infodoc / Documentary and identity mediations in a community of knowledge online : the case of infodoc blogosphere

Stassin, Bérengère 16 November 2015 (has links)
This doctoral research deals with the new forms of information and knowledge mediation resulted by Web 2.0 technologies. It focuses on blogs and investigates their role in the emergence of informational networks in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS). The study conducted for this doctoral research focused on the French LIS non-institutional blogosphere, i.e. on blogs of archivists, librarians, knowledge managers, or researchers, maintained by themselves independently from any institution. The goal of the study was to define the character of this blog network and the type of information mediation it represents. A sample of 5 555 posts published by 68 bloggers between 2010 and 2012 was analyzed. The following types of analysis were applied: social network analysis, content analysis, discourse analysis, enriched by semi-structured interviews. The results show that this blogosphere might be considered as an online knowledge community whose members share knowledge, know-how, and experience. Despite their different backgrounds, bloggers gather around a common interest in LIS. They also gather thanks to “boundary objects” and “brokers” that provide a link and an interface between them. Moreover, their knowledge sharing activities require a reification process that involves a production of documents. The results of the study reveal that bloggers produce not only a wide range of documents, but also a mosaic of documentary mediations. Through their information and communication practices, bloggers also create their digital identities, build their online presence and promote their expertise. This performs another type of mediation: “identity mediation”. Therefore, any document published in an expert’s blog is subject to both a documentary and identity mediation.
