When the mentally handicapped adolescents reflect on themselves : psychoanalytic work with three mentally handicapped adolescents and the transformations of their representation of handicap

Blondeau, Ananda 21 January 2011 (has links)
This work aims to demonstrate the relevance and the issue of a psychic elaboration work of the mentally handicapped adolescent subject in the setting of a psychotherapeutic caretaking. This research is supported by the clinical and theoretical articulation of psychoanalytical allegiance. The general assumption is as follows: in the setting of a psychotherapeutic caretaking, a mentally handicapped adolescent is able to produce a psychic elaboration of his handicap, which I name “work on the handicap”. The setting of the psychotherapeutic caretaking leads the mentally handicapped adolescent to build some representations of his own handicap. This research is supported by three psychotherapeutic care takings of mentally handicapped adolescents. Equally rich and complex, the clinical material coming from the three clinical cases demonstrates the carrying out of a work on the handicap, based on a co-construction between the therapist and the subject. The work on the handicap therefore could be the result of a psychic elaboration combining the work of mourning, the transformation of thought and representability. If the work on the handicap turns out to be painful in many regards for the mentally handicapped adolescent subject, it remains essential for his psychic construction.

My diploma thesis aims at the question of the handicapped people and their engagement in the support motor programme in one-week regime for a period of five months. The research was done at Základní škola speciální v Českém Krumlově (Primary Specialized School in Český Krumlov). A competent worker of the school institution provided me with the anamnesis data. I tested the gymnasts by means of standardized motor tests. Two hypotheses adverting to the field of motor and social competence were set up. The applied programme was created in order to support the development of the mentally handicapped pupils' motor abilities and capabilities. It covered easy motor exercises, yoga and its relaxation elements, and psychomotor plays. The influence of the programme was retrieved by double measuring (input and output); all the gained data were processed and evaluated statistically.\\

Boukhelif, Meryem 20 April 2015 (has links)
The school attendance of children mental handicap remains an underexploited field of search despite the opulant amount of informations that could bring to adapt to the best the interventions for the success of the Integration Act.The integration into mainstream education is a societal challenge. This service aims children with intellectual disabilities, so they can receive a quality education in a most normal framework possible and thus the ability toestablish contacts with non-disabled peers.Since 1996, laws and regulations engage more and more education brought to all children, whatever their difficulties, the education of mentally disabled with this law encounter difficulties to be achieved outside specialized institutions. The research actions on the education of children with mental handicaps remains very few, this is why research will focus on the representations of society put forward (disabled children's parents, teachers, normal children's parents), and to explain to them in order to identify the conditions for inclusive education.

Požiūris į žmogų su proto negalia: lyginamoji analizė / An attitude towards a person with a mental handicap: a comparative analysis

Jašinauskaitė, Kristina 04 January 2007 (has links)
Summary After its Independence, Lithuania has witnessed to a considerable number of positive changes in the sphere of integration of the disabled. Still, the current situation of the disabled in Lithuania could be called paradoxical. It has reached a critical point and demands radical solutions. On the one hand, the attention and tolerance of the society towards the disabled have been augmenting; on the other hand, the care for the disabled is becoming declaratory. The main and the greatest obstacle for the integration of the disabled into society is a negative attitude towards them; while, on the contrary, a positive attitude is one of the crucial conditions for succesful integration. Although nowadays media has been showing a greater interest in the life of the disabled, the great part of society regards people with a handicap as those who have to live and work seperately. An attitude of traditional segregation of the disabled is disappearing very slowly. People with mental disability are still welcomed with an especially unfavourable attitude. Thus the object of the survey of the diploma – is an attitude towards people with mental disability; and the aim of this work – is to reveal an expression of an affirmative/optimistic attitude towards people with a mental handicap in daily social interaction. Survey tasks 1. To examine and evaluate the attitude of the workers of the day-care center towards people with mental disability; 2. To reveal how the workers manage to... [to full text]

: social representations about sexuality of mentally-handicapped adults living in institution, for an education for health

Ossola, Laurence 24 November 2017 (has links)
Mentally-handicapped adults, like any other human beings, develop amorous sentiments and therefore, are entitled to an emotional, intimate and sexual life.In institution (living space), brain-damaged adults are often dependent on social representations which built them, of those of caregivers who cared them, or still of those of caregivers-loving-accompanying and families which accompanying them. This research tried to target the central cores and peripheral elements of all these social representations, by means of the “free association” and the “emotional cards”, to estimate for all actors, the possible progress regarding acceptance, and consequently accompaniment of intimacy and sexuality about institutionalized mentally-handicapped adults.Brain-damaged adults (acquired handicap) and people with mental disabilities (congenital handicap) were the main protagonists of this research. The results show that according to the type of handicap (acquired or congenital), the caregivers’ posture is almost the same; that of the resident differ themselves slightly; as for that some caregivers-loving-accompanying and families are radically different: people with congenital disabilities do not create an intimate imagination and/or sexual from them, to their mentally-handicapped adult. What perspectives for the implementation of an education for the sexual health for these cerebral disabled people? What sort of companying for privacy and sexual life in institution?

Práce s rodinou klienta sociálních služeb / Work with the Client´s Family Social Services

PITKOVÁ, Zuzana January 2011 (has links)
My thesis work deals with working with the family of a social services client. Social services can be defined as a set of activities to provide assistance to persons in unfavourable social situations. The main purpose of social services is to preserve human dignity and to encourage the given persons to pursue activities that do not protract or worsen their social situation (in other words, to prevent their social exclusion). People may find themselves in a difficult social situation for various reasons (e.g. because of age or poor health status). The most frequent social services users are seniors and persons with disabilities. With regard to the fact that in the future I would like to work in a job treating the above-mentioned target groups, I focused on them in my thesis. I suppose that mutual cooperation between a family and the staff in the social care providing facility can have a positive affect on the client himself. For this reason, I conceived my thesis in a broader context - a family, a social services user and a social services provider. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part describes all the important aspects related to a family, social services and basic characteristics of the Blansko district. In the practical part the target of the thesis was stated. I wanted to learn what problems most families face (not just prior to placing the client to a social services facility, but also in the course of the stay), what their experience with the facility is and whether they are informed about all available social services offered in the area. To compile the thesis quantitative research was applied. I used the method of questioning, the technique of structured interviews with family members of senior home clients and persons with mental disabilities attending a daycare stationary. The thesis could serve as information material on social services not only for families involved in my research, but also for the general public - to provide information about availability of social services for seniors and persons with mental disabilities in the Blansko district in the South Moravian Region.
