Time series analysis of SAR images using persistent scatterer (PS), small baseline (SB) and merged approaches in regions with small surface deformation

Bouraoui, Seyfallah 02 July 2013 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis aims at the study of small to large surface deformation that can be detected using the remote sensing interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) methods. The new developments of InSAR processing techniques allow the monitoring of surface deformation with millimeter surface change accuracy. Conventional InSAR use a pair of SAR images ("Master" and "Slave" images) in order to measure the phase difference between the two images taken at different times. The uncertainties in measurements using the conventional InSAR due to the atmospheric delay, the topographic changes and the orbital artifacts are the handicaps of this method. The idea of InSAR method is to measure the phase difference between tow SAR acquisitions. These measure refere to the ground movment according to the satellite position. In interferogram the red to blue colors refere to the pixel movement to or far from the satellite position in Line-Of-Sight (LOS) direction. In 2000's, Radar spacecraft have seen a large number of launching mission, SAR quisitions and InSAR applicability have seen explosion in differents geophysical studies due to the important SAR datas and facility of data accessibity. This SAR-mining needs other type and generation of InSAR processing. In 2001, Ferretti and others introduce a new method called Permanent Scatterer InSAR (PS) that is based on the use of more than one Slave image in InSAR processing with the same Master image. This method allows enhancing the LOS signal for each pixel (PS) by using the best time and/or space-correlated signal (from amplitude and/or from phase) for each pixel over the acquisitions. A large number of algorithms were developed for this purpose using thesame principle (variantes). In 2002, Berardino et al developed new algorithm for monitoring surface deformation based on the combination of stack of InSAR results from SAR couples respecting small baseline (SB) distance. Nowadays, these two methods represent the existing time series (TS) analysis of SAR images approaches. In addition, StaMPS software introduced by Hooper and others, in 2008 is able to combine these two methods in order to take advantages from both of this TS approaches in term of best signal correlation and reducing the signal noise errors. In this thesis, the time series studies of surface changes associate to differents geophysical phenomena will have two interest: the first is to highlight the PS and SBAS results and discuss the fiability of obtained InSAR signal with comparation with the previous studies of the same geophysical case or observations in the field and in the second time, the combined method will also validate the results obtained separately with differents TS techniques. The validation of obtained signal is assured by these two steeps: Both of PS and SBAS methods should give relatively the same interferograms and LOSdisplacement signal (in term of sign and values), in addition these results will be compared with the previous studies results or with observations on the field. In this thesis, the InSAR techniques are applied to different case-studies of small surface deformation [...]

Společný ošetřovatelský lůžkový fond z pohledu sestry a managementu / Merged Nursing Inpatient Ward from the Perspective of Nurses and Management

VALEŠOVÁ, Hana January 2014 (has links)
Merged nursing inpatient ward is in the last few years becoming a trend of smaller, but also medium-sized hospitals. Due to the restructuring of beds of acute inpatient care in the Czech Republic, separate inpatient wards are merged to one joint ward, in the context of surgical as well as internal medicine. Merged inpatient ward is a combination of various disciplines (specialisms) of inpatient care under one senior consultant, or there is a common nursing ward, where senior consultants of individual disciplines are retained, while nursing care is merged. The main reason for the establishment of a merged inpatient ward is the optimization of beds and the related effective use of bed capacity in connection with an effort to preserve access to health care. The aim of the thesis Merged Nursing Inpatient Ward from the Perspective of Nurses and Management was to evaluate the contribution of a merged nursing inpatient ward, to identify the reasons for the project and the complications that accompanied the project. This research should analyze the problems in nursing care in connection with the origination of the project, to assess the demands of nursing on the ward and map errors in the field of nursing care in the context of the realization of the project. The thesis should evaluate interdisciplinary collaboration and map the occurrence of conflicts in a multidisciplinary team. During the survey it was found that the main reasons for the project were the financial savings associated with the restructuring of acute care beds in the Czech Republic. The establishment of a merged nursing inpatient ward helped the hospital to keep some expertise and it unified nursing care of the separate wards. In connection with the establishment of a joint nursing care, some complications and disadvantages that accompanied the project initially were analyzed. The survey showed how sensitively employees responded to the major change in the organization and how the cooperation between superiors and subordinates functioned. The study analyzed in what form the selection of employees for a common bed fund was realized and whether managers themselves could choose subordinates for their departments. One part of the research was the evaluation of the quality of nursing care on the merged inpatient ward, which showed that the establishment of the project did not have a negative impact on the quality of nursing care. In contrast, nursing care was united and there was also unified organization of nursing on the ward. The research evaluated the feedback from the subordinates to the top managers which was implemented through meetings and sessions. The survey refers to the greater workload on nurses in the working process on the merged ward. The origin of the project had an impact on the creation of new multidisciplinary teams and interdisciplinary collaboration. The project of a joint nursing inpatient ward was realized that the hospital can continue to provide quality health services to all patients. Research has shown that although the project had certain disadvantages and complications, it was certainly beneficial for the organization. The conclusions of the thesis may be presented in seminars, conferences and may be offered to professional journals for publication. The results of the research can help organizations that are going to realize the project of merged nursing inpatient ward.

The Rosary celebrations of black men are also known as Congada parties or Congado are produced from a conversion universe to Catholicism present in Brazil, since the colonial period with an ambiguous character who reconstructed and a new meant the sacred made its own and articulated with knowledge and concepts bounded to the ancestral notion of Bantu people. Onwards from a theoretical reference aligned by an interdisciplinary aproach the research purpose is to perceive how the congadeiros of Village João Vaz, especially the participants of congo’s dancers, they living the processes of transformation and permanence of their rituals and body movements (dancing, singing and drumming). To do this, initially, will be shown the structure of the Feast of the João Vaz, its relations with Congada Party of Catalan (GO), and main ceremonies, enabling the perception of the cycle of the Feaste, from the participation of Terno de Congo Verde e Preto. Then we will discuss about the contact’s points between the processes of urbanization and modernity and the ceremonies of the Feast of João Vaz that have presented to “congadeiros” the necessity of modifications and new meanings in their rituals, as the demands of urban life. So understand that, the same time that the life settings in the city point to the formation of an individualistic and apathetic subjectivit based on monetary values it was observed as the existence of manifestations of popular culture as the Congada between others present in regions considered marginalized comunities that they went occupied by people with limited financial resources who value sociability, solidarity coexistence affection and friendship. Finally, we will discuss about how the dancers of Terno de Congo Verde e Preto are living the changes and continuities in the configuration of body movements and rituals they perform, in view of the embodiment of knowledge that are manifested in dancing, singing and drumming, as basic features make up the african-Brazilian performances. The survey conducted the understanding of the interrelationships between the material sphere of existence and spiritual or symbolic sphere that operated in the manifestations of popular culture. This being one of the aspects that allow the observation of their movements and transformations and the realization that the knowledge of Congada that are sedimented in Congadeiro(congo dancer) body in built-in memory, the formation of a habitus, which manifests in festive ceremonies and celebration rituals.

Preparing elementary teachers to teach students with disabilities a comparison of program structures & elements across teacher preparation institutions

Close, Jessica 01 August 2011 (has links)
Students with disabilities have the right to the least restrictive environment (IDEA, 2004). Elementary teachers are teaching more of these students in the inclusive classroom because of this right. Elementary teachers are willing to take on this responsibility, but most feel they are not prepared to do so. In order to address this concern, elementary teacher preparation at the institution level must be addressed. This is a descriptive thesis which identifies and compares methods that different institutions across the country use to prepare teachers to teach students with disabilities. Institutions chosen for this thesis were recognized by either the U.S. News and World Report (2010) or the Report of the Blue Ribbon Panel (2010) for effective preparation of preservice elementary teachers. This thesis addresses the University of Central Florida with the aforementioned institutions. A continuum with three main types of structures was used to identify programs ranging from "discrete", meeting minimum requirements, to completely "merged" programs between special education and elementary education. While "merged" results in dual certification and the most effective preparation according to Blanton and Pugach (2007), it is most often offered as a choice and not as a requirement. Through analysis of program requirements of elementary education and special education programs, course descriptions, and syllabi, this investigator concluded that there were inconsistencies across teacher preparation programs. Institutions are distributed widely across the continuum. If elementary teachers are required to teach to all students, then teacher preparation programs should address all students thoroughly. The investigator's hope is that the evidence presented and the suggestions made in this thesis will incite changes in institutions that are preparing elementary teachers to teach students with disabilities.

Cooperation of kindergartens and primary schools within one legal entity in the transfer of children from one institution to another The diploma thesis deals with possibilities and forms of mutual cooperation of kindergarten and elementary school institutions within one legal subject. The theoretical part defines concepts important for understanding the work. These are pre-primary and primary education and their framework educational programs, defining their common objectives in education. Furthermore, a psychological and pedagogical view of the preparedness of children for primary school and the conditions of admission to compulsory school attendance, ie enrollment in the first class and developmental specifics of preschool and younger school age. In the empirical part, by means of the research method, the questionnaire answers the research questions, which investigate the mutual awareness of the FEP of pre-school and primary education among preschool classes of kindergartens and 1st classes of primary schools, which are one merged entity; and how these two institutions work together to move children from kindergarten to primary school.

Determination of Heterogeneity by High-Resolution Seismic Reservoir Characterization in the Heavy Oil Temblor Reservoir of Coalinga Field, California

Mahapatra, Sailendra Nath 12 December 2005 (has links)
The research focuses on analysis and subsurface imaging of siliciclastics rocks on steam-affected 3D poststack seismic data, merged from different vintages, from the Temblor Formation in the Coalinga heavy oil reservoir in the San Joaquin basin, California. The objective was identification, delineation, and demarcation of reservoir heterogeneities by seismostratigraphic and seismogeomorphic analysis. The proximity of the San Andreas Transforms greatly controlled basin evolution and caused substantial reservoir heterogeneity by changing the depositional environment from shallow marine to near-shore fluvial. Moreover, two unconformities dissect the reservoir interval. The seismic dataset exhibits erratic, distorted reflection strengths and amplitudes caused by steam-injection-aided production. A petrophysical analysis based on Gassmann fluid substitution suggests a 27% P-wave velocity decrease in steam-saturated intervals. Seismic to well log ties were problematic and vexing due to the resulting statics, wavelet changes, and line mismatches. Mapping and flattening on a deeper horizon, however, allowed mapping of the internal unconformities and well ties which were crucial for seismostratigraphic sequence identification. Visualization of seismic attributes brought out stratification patterns and two distinct, laterally and vertically extensive, porous, and interconnected facies tracts interpreted as incised valley fills and tidal-to-subtidal deposits as evidenced by bright, steam related amplitudes. Seismic attribute analysis, Geobody Visualization and Interpretation, and structure and isochron maps brought out two prominent channel-systems, recut and restacked in the central part of the area. These deposits were identified on seismic data and correlated to high-gamma coarsening-upward sands on logs and cores. The deeper one, shifting towards SSE with depth, lies between the Base Temblor and Buttonbed unconformities both in the southwestern and northwestern parts of the study area and is scattered in the western-central portion. The shallower one originates in southwestern corner below the Top Temblor unconformity shifts towards ESE-SE with depth, and runs nearly parallel to the Top Temblor unconformity. It cuts across the Valv unconformity in central part creating a channel incision, and follows the Buttonbed unconformity towards the north. The investigation segmented the reservoir into channels, non-channel bearing, and unconformity-bounded subunits which will allow the operator to improve steam injection and optimize placement of oil producing infill wells. / Ph. Conception, fabrication et caractérisation de transistors à effet de champ haute tension en carbure de silicium et de leur diode associée / Design, fabrication and characterization of high voltage field effect transistors in silicon carbide and their antiparallel related diode

Chevalier, Florian 30 November 2012 (has links)
In the context of more electrical transports, mechanical devices tend to be replaced by their smaller electrical counterparts. However the device itself must support harsher environment and electrical constraints (high voltage, high temperature) thus making existing silicon devices inappropriate. Since the first Schottky diode commercialization in 2001, Silicon Carbide (SiC) is the favorite candidate for the fabrication of devices able to sustain high voltage with a high integration level. Thanks to its wide band gap energy and its high critical field, 4H-SiC allows the design of high voltage Junction Field Effect Transistor (JFET) with its antiparallel diode. Studied structures depends of many parameters, that need to be optimized. Since the influence of the variation of each parameter could not be isolated, we tried to find mathematical methods to emphase optimal values leading to set an optimization criterion. Thus, two main kinds of JFET structure were finely analyzed. In one hand, the aim of the structure that can sustain a voltage as high as possible leads to a complex fabrication process. In the other hand, the care of a simplification and a stabilization of manufacturing process leads to the design of simpler device, but with a bit less sustain capabilities.

Les fusions transfrontalières de sociétés de capitaux dans l'Union européenne : aspects de droit social / Cross border mergers of incorporated companies in the European Union : labour and employment aspects

Dupin, Coralie 23 March 2013 (has links)
Cross-border mergers of incorporated companies do not only interest Company Law but also comprise important aspects of Labour & Employment Law. If the European Directive dated 26 October 2005 facilitates these transactions, the reference made to national legislation raises many difficulties in the absence of harmonized treatment of the social consequences of transactions. The questions raised by the implementation of workers' participation in management bodies of the company resulting from the transaction are an illustration. Other issues include the fate of employees’ representative bodies of existing staff within the merging companies, collective norms and employment contracts, remain unresolved. To these and others, this study attempts to provide answers. The consequences of the cross-border transactions require that answers be given to the unresolved issues.

Implementation of high voltage Silicon Carbide rectifiers and switches

Berthou, Maxime 18 January 2012 (has links) (PDF)
In this document, we present ou study about the conception and realization of VMOS and Schottky and JBS Diodes on Silicon Carbide. This work allowed us optimize and fabricate diodes using Tungsten as Schottky barrier on both Schottky and JBS diodes of different blocking capability between 1.2kV and 9kV. Moreover, our study of the VMOS, by considering the overall fabrication process, has permitted to identify the totality of the problems we are facing. Thusly we could ameliorate the devices and try new designs as the VIEMOS or the monolithic integration of temperature and current sensors.
