Due to the rise of social networking, people spend more time on the Internet. They not only make friends and express their emotion in the real life, but also in the virtual world. In the stage of the Internet, which without limit in time and space, we can even perform so that other people can spectacle and join us. Hence, through the IT design functions which social network websites offer, how users can perform or spectacle easily on the social network websites, and what the meaning is about the action-dramas which users have performed. A private blog-Plurk, which we also called micro blog, is using as a field of study. In this thesis, we use Ethnography survey to observe and interview the users. In the data analysis, we compare IT function design and performing dramas. We will find out what the affordance the IT function can offer, and what the drama will perform. Finally, we will sort out the implications of the management and social capital. From this thesis we can learn: 1. What kind of IT functions offer to users on Plurk? 2. Through these IT functions, what kind of action-dramas will perform? 3. What are the implications and meanings of all these action-dramas? This thesis focus on the performing dramas and IT affordance because of the difference between IT function offer and design, the action-dramas will perform quite different, and the IT affordance will facilitate different key point. Therefore, from this thesis we hope that we can figure out some important functions and reasons that people is willing to stay longer on our website and some instructions for the website designers.

Hedbom, Shawn January 2022 (has links)
Many studies on social movements aim to understand a moment on an international level. This paper aims to contribute to the understanding of the Swedish environmental movement and the collective identity that can be found in these movements. In an effort to do this, the study aimed to answer research questions. The questions aimed at answering if collective identity is observable on social media, and to what degree, and how the collective identity online compares to what can be seen at a protest on the street. To answer these questions, the author took the help of two qualitative methods. The study looks at collective identity inobservable activities. The netnographic method has been used to gain insight into ten different Facebook pages that belong to seven separate Swedish environmental organisations. The ethnographic method of participant observation has been used to gain insight into six protests that took place in Stockholm, Sweden, during the spring semester of 2022. The results suggest that collective identity is visible online, to a high degree, because all aspects of collective identity are observable. Also, comparing the results between Facebook pages and street protests the visible collective identities did not differ, they just manifested in different ways.

Search for Depress Tendency: An Analysis on Chinese Micro-Blog Texts

Ren, Zhe Li Unknown Date (has links)
This research aims to answer the following questions:(1)What are the characteristics of micro-blog writing by the depressed tendency people? (2)How to identify the text in social media? Ten Wei-bo users with identified depressed tendency were chosen as starting points of snow-ball searching, and 127 users were located. A total of 20748 messages from this group of the users was collected as the dataset. Multiple methods were applied to analyze the texts: content analysis, qualitative text analysis, word frequency analysis and word co-occurrence. The result indicated that: (1)Through the coding of the text tone, mood, theme and degree of depression, we find out that in micro blog writing, the depressive tendency uses 62% of the negative tone and 25.1% of the blue text. Among them, higher negative and degree of depression of writing subjects are "self", "family", "suicide" and "sleep disorder". (2)Through deep qualitative analysis of "self" and "affection" depressed writing, the "self loathing" and "don't understand" in their mind are the most unforgettable. (3)Because the depressed people have the features of "suicide" and "sleep disorder", through the analysis, we find that through theme related words, it is helpful in the identification of the depression text. Among them, the "sleep disorders" co-occurrence words depressed text identification is up to 74%, and "suicide" co-occurrence words depressed text identification degree is 34 %.In the future, through the computer, we can further optimize the method, and enhance the degree of identification of depression text.
