Skolmedling i teori och praktik

Marklund, Linda January 2007 (has links)
This thesis aims to answer the questions; what and were does peer mediation fit into the theoretical and practical frameworks of mediation? How does peer mediation fit into the retributive legal system as it stands today? What problems can arise with the use of peer mediation, its organizations and with the use of adolescent peer mediators, in a legal perspective? When it comes to the question of where peer mediation has its theoretical framework the hypothesis in this thesis are that peer mediation, with respect to the practical framework, is a hybrid of the settlement driven mediation and the transformative mediation. The theoretical framework comes from the philosophy of restorative justice (RJ), primarily the victim-offender mediation in the sense that if peer mediation per se is not enough it has to bee a whole school approach for it to work. In RJ, the community is as important as the primarily parties, the offender and the offended. In school conflicts, the community is the whole school, and as such it has to bee the whole school that is involved in the conflict management program. The method used in this thesis is the traditional method of jurisprudence combined with two case studies. The first case study is the "Peer mediations Project" that in fact was the starting point for the research. The aim with this case study is too show how peer mediation can work in Sweden, both on an organizational and a practical level. In doing so it also highlights which legal questions that is relevant for this thesis. The second case study is the "Spice conflict". This case study aims to make researcher go deeper in the legal issues as well as to illuminate a school conflict and how it can progress. The fist chapter gives a background for peer mediation and the focus of this thesis, as well as the first contact with the two case studies. Chapter two gives a legal background for the thesis. Chapter three deals with conflict theory and chapter four with schools conflicts and the different programs there is to handle those conflicts. In chapter five the different mediations models are presented more in depth and discussed from at mediation perspective. Chapter six goes deeper into the second case study in an effort to resolve the legal issues that has arisen. In the last chapter there is a discussion which originates from the five Nordic principles of mediation, facilitative, peaceably, freely, confidently and restoratively, in conjunction whit mediation, conflict and legal theory.

An unsafe playing field : Examining the troubling state of video game industry employees and their problems at work.

Anwer, Rizwan January 2023 (has links)
Instances of professional misconduct, such as sexual harassment, mobbing and bullying, have become increasingly common, particularly in male-dominated industries like the video games industry. This has led to work-life balance problems and a high turnover rate among employees, especially females. Despite existing policies, female workers continue to face unwelcome situations and feel marginalized by their colleagues. The lack of robust measures from authorities to address professional misconduct adds to their insecurity and intention to leave their jobs. This workplace unrest and role conflicts also prevent employees from fulfilling their emotional, social, and familial responsibilities. A mixed methods research study was conducted to understand the reasons behind the increase in professional misconduct and the factors contributing to its severity at the workplaces in the gaming industry. The study found that employees, particularly females, are subjected to bullying, mobbing, and sexual harassment. They are often not considered integral to the industry by their co-workers, but male employees also experience professional misconduct, but to a lesser degree. Urgent attention and effective measures are needed to create a safe and inclusive work environment for all employees, regardless of gender, and to address the rising incidence of professional misconduct, thereby improving work-life balance.

Representações na mídia impressa sobre o assédio moral no trabalho / Representations in the printed media about psychological work harassment

Andréia de Conto Garbin 02 September 2009 (has links)
Assim a mídia escrita principia, no Brasil, a abordagem do tema assédio moral. / That boss who already made you cry in the bathroom can be more harmful to your health than you think so. This is how the discussion started about psychological harassment at work in Brazil released by daily papers. Among the large number of work related stressors, psychological violence at workplace gained visibility of researchers, labor unions and companies in the past 10 years. The issue started to be discussed in Brazil after publications (aimed to academic and general public) were published, and legislation was established at the municipal and state levels. An exploratory study was carried out about moral harassment at work, based on articles published from 1990 to 2008, by three important daily newspapers of the State of São Paulo, Brazil. Method: An extensive review of the subject including its origins and consequences to workers health was prepared. Discourse analyses were used to recognize the phenomenon, its importance and consequences of the moral harassment at work according the published articles. Results: the articles were first published in editorials, and then they appeared in the employment, economics and finances sections of the papers. The content of the manuscripts also aimed to aware companies about law suits. In spite the terminology of moral harassment has been discussed as work-related, it still lacks a precise concept. The discourses published by the papers trivialized psychological harassment at work, as they created caricatures and stigmatization of the individuals involved. The causal explanations tend to a psychological interpretation of this phenomenon, emphasizing individual and behavioral characteristics, favoring personal relations, and minimizing the collective approach of psychological harassment at the workplace.

Mobbing na pracovištích intenzivní péče / Bullying in the Intensive Care Units

Samcová, Olga January 2011 (has links)
Bullying in the intensive care units. The main mission of this thesis is to describe an issue called mobbing. The primary target is to get information about rate of bullying in the intensive care units in south Bohemia, especially in Prachatice and Strakonice city and to know how many percent of employees / paramedics of the intensive care units were already touched by bullying. This kind of information we got by anonymous questionnaires, set up from 23 questions with open and closed form. In theoretical part I deal with actual status, explaining term of mobbing, bossing, causes of bullying, characteristic of the participants, bullying in the health service in the Czech republic. In the conclusion I show prevention and tolerance of mobbing and bossing. In practical part I point on assesment of hypothesis and evaluation of the target of my thesis. I suppose that the chicane show up in small measure on the workplace of the intensive care units. From my point of view I think that women working in the intensive care units are getting in a touch of bullying much more than men. In this part I want to show a methodology of research, parameter of complex and evaluation of research. In conclusion I get back to evaluation of research and starting a discussion. Key words: mobbing, bullying, bossing, conflict,...

Antipredační chování, pohlavní výběr a reprodukční úspěch u vrabce domácího (Passer domesticus) / Antipredatory behaviour, sexual selection and reproductive success in domestic sparrow (Passer domesticus).

Klvaňová, Alena January 2011 (has links)
Anti-predator behaviour, sexual selection and reproductive success in the House Sparrow Passer domesticus Alena Klvaňová Summary of the thesis Individual components of parental care are disproportionally distributed among the parents in the House Sparrow. While the female broods the nestlings more often and feeds them more frequently, the male defends the nest more intensely. In an experimental study the parents did not adjust their nest defence intensity to behaviour of their partners, nor to brood parameters. Only males tended to defend the sooner broods more intensely, which is in concordance with the "brood value hypothesis". Male contribution to nestling feeding affected their body mass. Male nest defence intensity increased with the size of their melanin ornament. Thus, we assume that the ornament could signal male investment in this component of parental care, while it does not correlate with feeding frequency and time spent by incubation. This output is probably caused by pleiotropic effect of genes regulating melanogenesis, affecting e. g. testosterone plasma level, which is associated with increased agression and lower intensity of other components of parental care as nestling provisioning or incubation. We have also aked the question whether the anti-predator strategy in House Sparrow is stable...

Le harcèlement moral en milieu professionnel : le cas du service public hospitalier ukrainien / Moral harassment in work environment : the case of the ukrainian public hospital service

Zaitseva, Valériia 06 July 2016 (has links)
The main objective of this doctoral thesis is to clarify the existing relations between organisational factors and mobbing in the Ukrainian public sector so to formulate the prevention measures of psychological harassment in the organisational area. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first research that shed light into the psychological harassment as well as on its factors in Ukraine, where the legislation to that matter is inexistent. This thesis has also the ambition to test the impact of individual characteristics of the victim with psychological harassment. To that end, we conducted a research in three steps. Firstly, an analysis of 450 articles has been realised. The aim of that step was to grasp the main organisation factors that influence psychological harassment in a company environment using a precise definition: a minimal harassment length of at least 6 months and a notion of repeatability of the act weekly or monthly. It appeared that five types of factors contribute to the explanation of psychological harassment, namely: work organisation, leadership, the organisational culture and social climate, the compensation and benefit system and organisation changes. Secondly, we led a qualitative exploratory research aiming to refine the results of the literature review with elements that are specific to the Ukrainian area. Twelve semi-structured interviews have been conducted with medical specialists working in obstetrics hospitals located in Kharkiv (Ukraine). The goal of this step resulted in the construction of the research model. Finally, a confirmatory quantitative study helped us to test statistically correlations between fourteen organisational factors and three dimensions of mobbing. Mobbing has been measured through a behavioural method (NAQ, Einarsen et al., 1994). In order to measure the organisation variables, we structured our own survey by inspiring us from several measuring scales tested and validated in previous studies. The transcultural validation steps of one survey of Vallerand (1989) have been applied. Through this quantitative research, 243 participants have been surveyed. Among those, 35% are regular harassment victims during 6 months preceding the research. The analysis brings out that the fact of being a man increases the likelihood of being harassed. When it comes to organisational factors, it turns out that role conflict, work conflict, social support and decision authority are all major determinants in moral harassment in the Ukrainian context.
