A Hilbert Curve-Based Algorithm for Order-Sensitive Moving KNN Queries

Feng, Fei-Chung 11 July 2012 (has links)
¡@¡@Due to wireless communication technologies, positioning technologies, and mobile computing develop quickly, mobile services are becoming practical and important on big spatiotemporal databases management. Mobile service users move only inside a spatial space, e:g: a country. They often issue the K Nearest Neighbor (kNN) query to obtain data objects reachable through the spatial database. The challenge problem of mobile services is how to efficiently answer the data objects which users interest to the corresponding mobile users. One type of kNN query problems is the order-sensitive moving kNN (order-sensitive MkNN) query problem. In the order-sensitive MkNN query problem, the query point is dynamic and unpredictable, the kNN answers should be responded in real time and sorted by the distance in the ascending order. Therefore, how to respond the kNN answers effectively, incrementally and correctly is an important issue. Nutanong et al: have proposed the V*-kNN algorithm to process the order-sensitive MkNN query. The V*-kNN algorithm uses their the V*-diagram algorithm to generate the safe region. It also uses the Incremental Rank Updates algorithm (IRU) to handle the events while the query point passing the bisectors or the boundary of the safe region. However, the V*-kNN algorithm uses the BF-kNN algorithm to retrieve NNs, which is non-incremental. This makes the search time increase while the density of the object increases. Moreover, they do not consider the situation that there are multiple objects at the same order, and the situation that there are multiple events happen in a single step. These situations may cause that the kNN answers are incorrect. Therefore, in this thesis, we propose the Hilbert curve-based kNN algorithm (HC-kNN) algorithm to process the ordersensitive MkNN query. The HC-kNN algorithm can handle the situation that there are multiple events happen in a single step. We also propose new data structure of the kNN answers. Next, we propose the Intersection of Perpendicular Bisectors algorithm (IPB) in order to handle order update events of the kNN answers. The IPB algorithm handles the situation which there are multiple objects at the same order. Finally, based on the Hilbert curve index, we propose the ONHC-kNN algorithm to get NNs incrementally and to generate the safe region. The safe region will not be affected while the density of the object increases. The safe region of our algorithm is larger than that of the V*-kNN algorithm. From our simulation result, we show that the HC-kNN algorithm provides better performance than the V*-kNN algorithm.

Reference modeling for high value added mobile services

Zheng, X. (Xiaosong) 04 September 2007 (has links)
Abstract The era of mobile communications and mobile services has begun. The ongoing mobile revolution has dramatically and fundamentally changed our daily lifestyles, and it will continue to do so in a foreseeable future. For the next generation, mobile service end users have more demands for such services. This thesis examines the challenging user perspectives in designing and developing high value added mobile services. The aim of this research is to develop reference models and elicit user requirements for 3G and beyond mobile services in order to improve the quality of mobile services. This thesis first examines the existing architectures and models for high value added mobile services, followed by the contributions of the thesis. In this thesis, a Cyberworld model, which is a contribution to the WWRF reference modeling initiative and a specification of the WSI reference model, was developed and it serves as a basis for 3G and beyond mobile services design and development. A series of definitions of the Cyberworld model and a roadmap of the enabling technologies were also built up. The emphasis of this part is on how to describe and model user participation in mobile services. For this purpose, a model of the communication element to represent the components of the wireless world was created. Both static and dynamic reference modeling steps were established to better describe and understand user participation in mobile services. The validation was achieved through the CyPhone navigation mobile service. In order to enhance mobile service mobility, personalisation, and security, an ontology based model was developed to extend the Cyberworld model functionalities. The innovative ontology based mobile system will greatly increase service mobility, personalisation and security, thus improving the quality of mobile services. The ontology based model was illustrated and validated using a healthcare mobile service. A Quality Function Deployment (QFD) approach was adopted in this research in order to elicit, weigh and prioritise actual user requirements and link them to technical design requirements of mobile services. Traditionally QFD is employed in manufacturing industry. This approach is now extended to the mobile service industry for the first time. In this thesis, a detailed step by step QFD approach was proposed for designing high value added mobile services. As a result, the developed mobile services will better meet users' wants and needs which also means that the quality of mobile services will be significantly improved. The QFD approach was validated through a mobile e-learning service and another dedicated healthcare service for senior citizens. Through development of reference models and examination of user requirements for 3G and beyond mobile services from user perspectives, this thesis contributes to the design and development of high value added mobile services.

Insights into consumers' emerging interest in mobile services

Ristola, A. (Annu) 16 November 2010 (has links)
Abstract The present study develops our understanding of consumers’ emerging interest in novel mobile services by adopting two approaches. First, structural equation modeling is used as a statistical tool to create a context-sensitive model for consumer acceptance of novel mobile services. Secondly, the study creates an interpretive framework of contemporary consumer culture to help understand how consumers construct their emerging practices in novel mobile services based on their actual experiences. The empirical data was gathered at a Housing Fair, where a Mobile Fair Diary was piloted, and it is that Mobile Fair Diary application that provides the selected tool of the empirical study. Therefore, real user experience played a significant role in how our consumers perceived mobile services and the way the cultural discourse was produced. The model developed indicates that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, anxiety, trust and attitude have an impact on consumers’ intention to use mobile services. Furthermore, the various representations related to mobile services were identified in order to understand emerging practices. Consumers are likely to change the routines involved in the management of information if useful alternatives are available to them. An ongoing insecurity emerging from technology change is often a characteristic of the contemporary life of consumers. On the one hand, consumers are dependent on technology, but on the other hand, do not fully understand it. Therefore, consumers have to be active to keep up with the continuous changes going on around them. Furthermore, consumers need support from the service provider and their social context. Consumers should also believe in their own capability to learn and their power to make choices, which will result in changes to their practices.

The research scope is focused on the B2C mobile tourism services, and the main contribution of this study is the proposed service classification framework and the system development framework. This study tries to identify and classify B2C mobile tourism services based on the proposed service classification framework and processes. Moreover, tourists, 3G operators and the tourism industry are asked to evaluate the proposed B2C mobile tourism services as well as the service classification. Based on the proposed system development framework and processes, this study also builds and evaluates the prototype system to validate the feasibility of the proposed B2C mobile tourism services. To validate the appliance of our service classification framework, an extension research to the B2E mobile tourism services is also conducted. Management perspectives including managers and employees are taken into accounts to summarize the B2E mobile tourism services and the service classification framework. The research methodology used in this study is the design science research methodology. With literature reviews, semi-structured group interviews, and surveys to identify, classify, and evaluate B2C mobile tourism services as well as the service classification. The prototype system of the B2C mobile tourism services is built through object-oriented system analysis and design, and the survey questionnaire is used for the system evaluation of the prototype system. As an extension study, the B2E mobile tourism service classification research is built with literature reviews, semi-structured focus group discussions and semi-structured field interviews. The B2C mobile tourism service classification research results are as follows. (1) The mobile search & notification services, the mobile recommendation services, and the mobile transaction & payment services are top three useful B2C mobile tourism services valued by tourists, and these three B2C mobile tourism services are top three most important, feasible and cost-benefit effective services from the 3G operators’ and travel agencies’ perspectives. (2) The 3G operators hold more positive attitudes towards the B2C mobile tourism services than the tourism industry does. (3) Tourism industry sets the same priority list toward the proposed B2C mobile tourism services as the 3G operators do. In this study, an application prototype of mobile recommendation services is also implemented to illustrate the development framework and design methods. The mobile recommendation services provide personalized and location-based recommendations regarding sightseeing spots, hotels, restaurants, and packaged tour plans based on tourists’ current location and time, as well as personal preferences and needs. Results from the system evaluation indicate high system satisfaction toward the prototype system. Based on the research results of the B2E mobile tourism service classification, different management levels have different needs for B2E mobile tourism services, and different B2E mobile tourism services have different technology complexities. Through this B2E mobile tourism service classification framework, it is easy to understand the technology complexities of the B2E mobile tourism services and managerial needs for the B2E mobile tourism services. Such service classification framework offers a reference baseline and guidance for planning and system development of B2E mobile tourism services. Moreover, this research results show that from managers’ perspectives, the mobile tour quality control services are important, feasible, and cost-benefit effective while the mobile sales support services are feasible, effective, but not so important services. Finally, future researches are suggested to apply the service classification framework and system development framework to other mobile service domain to validate the appliance of the proposed service classification framework and system development framework.

Constructing the measurement scale of mobile service quality

Fan, Ya Chu Unknown Date (has links)
With the proliferation of wireless technologies, consumers are increasingly coming into contact with a diverse range of mobile services. Mobile service providers seeking to deliver a superior service must understand how consumers perceive mobile services. Many instruments such as SERVQUAL and E-S-QUAL have been used to measure service quality; however, no general mobile service quality evaluation measure currently exists. Given the many different types of mobile services available, our aim in this study was to ascertain the essential characteristics of mobile services by conceptualizing, constructing, refining and testing a multiple-item scale (M-S-QUAL) for measuring service quality in the mobile environment. According to Hinkin’s guide on the development of scales, items in the scale were generated by following a deductive approach based on a theoretical foundation. The mobile services examined in this study were divided into those for tangible and intangible product transactions. The results show that in intangible and tangible product shopping, M-S-QUAL includes five dimensions (contact, recovery, fulfillment, privacy, and efficiency) and four dimensions (contact, recovery, fulfillment, and efficiency), respectively. These two aspects of M-S-QUAL demonstrate good psychometric properties based on findings from a variety of exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), reliability and validity tests. The findings of this study may help mobile service providers assess the quality of their services and assist researchers in developing mobile service quality theories.

Celi Ramírez, Erwin Joel, Pérez Samillan, Sophia Arianna, Soto Jaramillo, Rocio Margot, Tapia Andrade, Milagros, Vargas Machuca Castro, Anthonny Manuel 17 July 2021 (has links)
The objective of this project is to demonstrate the viability of the mobile bicycle maintenance and repair service company, called TOTAL BYKE. To do this, a market research is carried out, the results of which show that there is an unsatisfied demand for maintenance, repair and purchase of bicycle accessories, since cyclists must travel long stretches to locate a workshop that provides this type of services, which generally do not provide good customer service, quality service or have a guarantee. Likewise, a diagnosis is carried out with reference to the marketing plan, operations, human and financial resources, through the application of qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Virtual interviews were conducted with users according to the target group, to learn about their experience regarding the use of bicycles and the related services available to them, such as maintenance, repair and purchases of accessories. The results obtained assume that there are various services dedicated to the maintenance of bicycles, the same that differ greatly with the added value that this project proposes, a mobile mobile technical service, whose nature allows it to be close to the target segment to which it is directed through from the following districts, Jesús María, San Isidro, Miraflores, San Borja and Surco. The project would generate a return of at least 61% for investors, with a payback period of 2 years and a project profitability of 1.19 times the initial investment. Therefore, we consider TOTAL BYKE to be a viable business idea. / Trabajo de investigación
