The curvature of the lines and the linearity of the curves: a compared study on João Cabral, Piet Mondrian, and Joan Miró.

Oliveira, Fábio José Santos de 03 September 2015 (has links)
Our research aims to study the work of the Brazilian writer João Cabral de Melo Neto in comparison to some paintings of the Dutch painter Piet Mondrian and of the Catalan painter Joan Miró. By means of the discussion about both the creative model of the two painters and what João Cabral focuses aesthetically on them, we try to comprehend how these aesthetic principles are literarily debated by the poet and how they would characterize or wouldnt his poetic. For this reason, we have selected the Poets initial phase, mainly the books Psicologia da Composição [Psychology of the Composition] and Uma faca só lâmina [One knife that is nothing but blade]. By the study of these two books, we can observe that João Cabrals poetry is not only architected out of the object (in a model of depuration) but also out of the image (in a model of reconfiguration). In the first case, we see proximity between João Cabrals aesthetics and Mondrians one, and in the second case we see proximity between João Cabrals aesthetics and Mirós one.

Krispinsson, Charlotta January 2007 (has links)
<p>This paper presents an approach in contemporary, abstract art for a new way of experiencing modernist abstraction. This has not been possible until now, about 40 years after the postmodern turn against modernism in art, and the closely connected formalism. This new approach is represented in this paper by the Swedish contemporary artists Ann Edholm and Jacob Dahlgren. Modernist artists such as Kasimir Malevich and Piet Mondrian receives a new relevance to contemporary abstract art. This opens up for a new, more complex and more dialectical understanding and re-evaluation of modernism and its abstract art. This is shown by a historical and chronological investigation which highlights modernist abstract art, formalism, and the critical and post-modern Neo-geometric ‘abstraction’ of the eighties. This background has been a way of proving how modernist abstraction still can possess a validity for contemporary art today, and even vitalize a continuation for abstract art as a contemporary practice.</p>

Analýza globálních meteorologických dat / Global Meteorological Data Analysis

Gerych, Petr January 2012 (has links)
The thesis generally describes matters of data warehouses and knowledge discovery in databases. Then it focuses on the meteorological databases and their problems. The practical part of thesis describes design methods for data mining project, NOAA Global Surface Summary of the Day (GSOD), which is then implemented in two different ways using the Pentaho tools. Finally, an evaluation and comparison of these two approaches.

Real-time industrial systems anomaly detection with on-edge Tiny Machine Learning

Tiberg, Anton January 2022 (has links)
Embedded system such as microcontrollers has become more powerful and cheaper during the past couple of years. This has led to more and more development of on-edge applications, one of which is anomaly detection using machine learning. This thesis investigates the ability to implement, deploy and run the unsupervised anomaly detection algorithm called Isolation Forest, and its modified version Mondrian Isolation Forest on a microcontroller. Both algorithms were successfully implemented and deployed. The regular Isolation Forest algorithm resulted in being able to function as an anomaly detection algorithm by using both data sets and streaming data. However, the Mondrian Isolation Forest was too resource hungry to be able to function as a proper anomaly detection application.

Research: ROTHKO : - ett arbete om att lära känna sig själv genom någon annan / Research: ROTHKO : - about getting to know yourself through someone else

af Malmborg, Solith January 2017 (has links)
This thesis project examines both inner and outer circumstances of knowledge in an attempt to emphasize the importance of personal reflection. I search for answers on how to communicate feelings through colour and form by studying Mark Rothko and the abstract expressionism. A personal reflection is made parallelly to expand my own understanding of the subject and my own role in relation to it. I also explore painting as amethod of deepening my understanding of Rothko. Mark Rothko is both subject of study and tutor as I give myself the task of translating his art into my own design. The result offers thoughts and ideas on the significance of the work of hand, the use of colour and the meaning of intention, which I claim are important aspects when aiming for emotional results. However I also reflect upon the fact that the communication remains individual and that it is therefore problematic to confirm success in this matter.
