CAN TEXT-RELEVANT MOTOR ACTIVITY IMPROVE THE RECALL OF NATIVE AMERICAN CHILDREN? TESTING PREDICTIONS DERIVED FROM GLENBERG'S "INDEXICAL HYPOTHESIS"

Marley, Scott C. January 2005 (has links)
The present study extends previous research on motoric activity and imagery production to the text processing of Native American learning-disabled students and third-grade regular-education students. Two experiments were developed to test predictions derived from Glenberg's (1997) "indexical hypothesis". Experiment 1 was performed with learning-disabled Native American students listening to narrative passages under one of three randomly assigned listening strategies: free-study, visual, and manipulate. Experiment 2 was performed with regular-education Native American third graders reading similar passages under one of three randomly assigned reading strategies: reread, observed manipulation, and manipulation. With the learning-disabled students, statistically significant improvements in memory for story events, locations, objects, and actions were observed on cued- and free-recall outcomes when toys representing story characters and settings were present during encoding. Facilitative strategy transfer was not apparent when the toys were removed. With the third-grade students, similar benefits were found when the toys were present. In addition, students who had access to the toys during a training period performed significantly better on cued- and free-recall measures relative to reread students when the toys were no longer present.

Pedagogers reflektioner om rörelse i skolan

Dahlberg, Andreas January 2007 (has links)
This is a study on teachers´reflections of motoric skills and the parallels they think that they make when it comes to students concentration. I also wanted to see what methods the teachers were using and what motivates them. It shows that the teachers´ could see positive effects on students concentration while training of motoric skills.

On the IT technology for motoric disabled persons

Pavlovic, Sara, Mehmedi, Rrahime January 2016 (has links)
This essay deals with a study of technological aids for the physically disabled with reduced mobility. In today's society technology develops in a very fast pace, but the technology should be available to everyone including those with disabilities. The main aim of this study is to investigate the following research issue: Which are the opportunities for motoric disabled adolescents to take advantage of the technological developments in terms of interaction with computers? Our conducted interview study showed that the users were using touch pads and eye tracking. However, the study also showed that they were not fully satisfied with the aforementioned aid tools. Recent research studies discuss other existing aid tools, and that they could be more beneficial for the users. Furthermore, recent research results also show that there are guidelines to be followed when developing technical aid tools for adolescents with motoric disabilities.

Hudební činnost při rozvoji grafomotoriky v průběhu lateralizace předškolních dětí / Musical activities in the development of graphomotor skills during the lateralization of preschool children

Matulová, Veronika January 2022 (has links)
The subject of the thesis is the use of musical activities in the development of graphomotor skills of preschool children. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to the problem of harmonization of music and movement at the level of gross and fine motor skills. It also deals with the issue of laterality and its distinctness. The practical part contains a detailed case study of a boy with a disadvantageous type of laterality and follows the development of his graphomotor skills during 15 lessons, the core of which are musical activities for the development of graphomotor skills of preschool children. I used multiple complementary research methods in the in-depth case study, which were participant observation, mother interview, open-ended questionnaire, family and personal history, and PPP report. The action research was conducted over a ten-month period, with the boys being 4 years and 3 months old at the start of the research. The practical part of the thesis analyses the action research data and evaluates the overall impact of specific musical activities in the development of preschool children's graphomotor skills.

Ověření testové baterie motorických předpokladů pro tenis / Verification of test battery of motoric assumptions for tennis

Křelina, Vladimír January 2016 (has links)
This thesis focuses on testing the motoric assumptions of junior category tennis players in certain sport games. The aim of this thesis is to compare the results of the motoric test regarding to three tennis players of various performance levels in chosen sport games. Thus define the substantive significance and specificity of each test towards tennis. The assumptions in the theoretical part are based on my Bachelor thesis. In said thesis I am dealing with the characteristics of tennis, the structure of sport performance, the factors which determine the sport efficiency in tennis and most importantly on physical condition. The theoretical part is also widened by newly acquired knowledge. In the result part, based on the comparison of the three tennis players of different performance levels, the substantive significance of the test in tennis was stated. Subsequently we present the results of our test subjects in selected sport games. Using the comparative analysis the differences of motoric assumptions in various sport games are stated. In conclusion the specificity of each test for tennis is evaluated. We confirmed the substantive significance for all the test besides the standing long jump test. The specificity was confirmed for hexagon, spider and the test of endurance suited for tennis. The...

Ovlivňování motoriky ve vztahu k prostorové orientaci u žáků 1. a 2 stupně základní školy pro zrakově postižené / Influence upon Mobility in Relation to Spatial Orientation of Pupils in Primary and Upper Primary Schools for the Visually Impaired

Koubová, Lenka January 2012 (has links)
The thesis is focused on spatial orientation and independent movement of visually impaired people. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the extent of straight direction deviations concerning visually impaired pupils of primary and lower secondary schools. After analysis of specialized literature a description of current educational system for visually impaired pupils in the Czech Republic follows in the theoretical part. Specific needs related to the field of education of this target group are mentioned. Functional limitation of the visual analyzer influences spatial orientation and independent movement of the visually impaired individual. Therefore the thesis deals with the above mentioned topic and characterises education of the subject called spatial orientation and independent movement. Troubles in the field of motoric movement occur in the group of visually impaired people. This is apparent especially in incorrect walking technique and in deviation from the required straight direction. The research part of the thesis analyses deviations from the straight direction of the visually impaired and intact pupils.
