About 1.5 years after the first Covid-19 lockdown, it is clear there will not be an "as before” anymore. New standards have been established among project managers in the German news media industry and hybrid and virtual working has become the New Normal. In this study, nine project managers from German news media organisations have shared their experiences on the Covid-19 pandemic. The main takeaway is that pragmatism and agile principles have been beneficial for the project managers in uncertain times. The role of a successful project manager has seen a shift towards being a facilitator who gives structure to the team but enables it to work more efficiently through communication and building strong trust. / Runt 1,5 år efter den första Covid-19-lockdown står det klart att det inte kommer att bli något "som förut" längre. Nya standarder har etablerats bland projektledare i den tyska nyhetsmediebranschen och hybrid och virtuellt arbete har blivit det Nya Normala. I den här studien har nio projektledare från tyska nyhetsmedieorganisationer delat med sig av sina erfarenheter av Covid-19-pandemin. Den viktigaste slutsatsen är att pragmatism och agila principer har varit till nytta för projektledarna i osäkra tider. Rollen som framgångsrik projektledare har förändrats till att bli en facilitator som ger teamet struktur och som gör det möjligt för teamet att arbeta mer effektivt genom kommunikation och att bygga upp ett starkt förtroende.

Pandemins påverkan på stadskärnan : Vilken effekt har Covid-19 haft på Umeå stadskärnanFoconi, Jacob January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to understand the short- and long term implications of the Covid-19 virus on the city center and what is done to revitalize it to a more attractive and available place. This case study is done on Umeå city center, where the municipality is going through a massive transformation and plans to increase its population size from 130 000 to 200 000 by 2050. That is a 50% population increase over a 30-year period, this also entails doubling the amount of constructing on a yearly basis. With the municipality focusing on densification of its cities, with a particular focus on the city center since they want to build a dense and vibrant city where everything is within a 5 km distance radius. The case study is done with a qualitative method using semi structural interviews. The observations made from the interview are compared to previous scientific studies, documents and theories made by urban planners and culture geographers. They include Jane Jacobs, Richard Florida and previous work on the correlation between urbanization and spread of infection as well as studies on people’s preferences on where to live, either being in or outside the city perimeter. To gather empirical information a selection of people in suitable positions were interviewed. The results from the interviews and document shows that the city center has not been affected by the Covid-19 virus on a macro level. There has however been a wide impact on the microgeographic level, where stores and restaurant have been highly affected by the restrictions imposed. People have also seen their daily lives affected which has changed their routines and behavior in consumption and movement. There has been little change in the planning process or vision for the city center expect that there has been a greater emphasis on cooperation between businesses and the municipality.

The aim of this study is to provide a deeper understanding of how frameworks of learning have shifted from a physical to a digital approach during the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result of the pandemic, many societies have suffered substantial setbacks for instance the closing down of several institutions such as universities. Consequently, universities around the world adapted to a digital approach for teaching and learning, and, as a result, teachers and students were required to familiarise themselves with new digital techniques. The pandemic has forced a paradigm shift in how education is delivered, and, as this is unprecedented in terms of research, we were eager to learn how the affected individuals in the educational sector perceive these societal changes. The study is based on eight semi-structured interviews with five students and three teachers who are either studying or working at Swedish universities. The outcome shows that there is a fluctuation in how social interactions changes from informal everyday encounters to more formal appointments. We found that the new frames on digital learning have different structural and institutional frames where laws and regulations differ from traditional physical learning. “New Normal” was an interesting term that arose during the interviews, which relates to the aforementioned changes. Finally, we attempt to define this concept in terms of a post Covid-19 society.

A common approach in designing relational databases is to start with a relation schema, which is then decomposed into multiple subschemas. A good choice of sub- schemas can often be determined using integrity constraints defined on the schema. Two central questions arise in this context. The first issue is what decompositions should be called "good", i.e., what normal form should be used. The second issue is how to find a decomposition into the desired form. These question have been the subject of intensive research since relational databases came to life. A large number of normal forms have been proposed, and methods for their computation given. However, some of the most popular proposals still have problems: - algorithms for finding decompositions are inefficient - dependency preserving decompositions do not always exist - decompositions need not be optimal w.r.t. redundancy/space/update anomalies We will address these issues in this work by: - designing effcient algorithms for finding dependency preserving decompositions - proposing a new normal form which minimizes overall storage space. This new normal form is then characterized syntactically, and shown to extend existing normal forms.

Den globala pandemin har förändrat hela världssituationen och lämnar troligen ingen oberörd. Den största förändringen för både organisationer och dess involverade aktörer är den förändrade arbetssituationen till följd av kraven på social distansering. Distansarbete uppmanas i största möjliga mån vilket har resulterat i drastiska förändringar av människors livssituationer och företags styrning och arbetssätt. Nyckeln till att lyckas med det distansbaserade arbetet anses vara utökandet av digitala verktyg och teknologiska arbetssätt, som enligt flertalet forskare behöver implementeras på ett hållbart sätt och dess effekter analyseras. Det sociala samarbetet är viktigt inom revision och påverkas av fysisk distans och rätt digitala lösningar krävs för att bibehålla effektivitet och kvalitet i arbetet. Genom denna studie syftade därför författarna till att undersöka hur en plötslig kris påverkat en organisation i revisionsbranschen, med fokus på styrningen mot ett distansbaserat arbetssätt och introducering av nya digitala lösningar. Syftet var att skapa en djupare förståelse för vilka organisatoriska effekter detta kan medföra genom att med hjälp av Normalisation Process Theory identifiera och analysera organisationens specifika förutsättningar för implementering av det nya arbetssättet. Detta gjordes genom kvalitativa intervjuer och resulterade i synliggörande av de mest påtagliga komponenterna i organisationens omställningsprocess men gav också ljus till potentiella problem relevanta att undersöka vidare inom organisationen. Drabbandet av denna kris bedöms ha resulterat i mestadels positiva eller neutrala effekter medförbättring av digitala arbetssätt och effektivare rutiner. Den mest påtagliga negativa effekten gäller den psykosociala arbetsmiljön, medarbetarnas samarbete och styrningens effektivitet. Studien ger ett bidrag som kunskapsunderlag för omställningsarbete på grund av kris och en avspegling till vad som anses bli det nya normala i en organisation av denna typ. Vidare forskning krävs för att skapa en större förståelse för de långvariga effekterna av en global arbetssituation med distansarbete och digitala arbetsprocesser. / The global pandemic has changed the whole world situation and probably leaves no one unaffected. The biggest change for both organizations and the involved actors is the changed work situation as a result of the requirements for social distancing. Teleworking is encouraged to the extent possible, which has resulted in drastic changes in people's life situations and companies' governance and working methods. The key to success with distance-based work is considered to be the expansion of digital tools and technological working methods, which according to most researchers needs to be implemented sustainably and its effects analyzed. Social cooperation is important in auditing and is affected by physical distance, the right digital solutions are required to maintain efficiency and quality of the work. Through this study, the authors therefore aimed to investigate how a sudden unexpected crisis has affected an organization in the auditing industry, with focus on the management towards a distance-based approach and the introduction of new digital solutions. The purpose was to create a deeper understanding of what organizational effects this can entail by using Normalization Process Theory to identify and analyze the organization's specific conditions for implementing the new way of working. This was done through qualitative interviews and resulted in the visibility of the most obvious components in the organization's change process, but also shed light on potential problems relevant to investigate further within the organization. The impact of this crisis is judged to have resulted in mostly positive or neutral effects with the improvement of digital working methods and more efficient routines. The most obvious negative effect concerns the psychosocial work environment, the employees' cooperation and the effectiveness of management. The study contributes to the knowledge base for adjustment work due to crisis and a contribution to what is considered to be the new normal. Further research is needed to create a greater understanding of the long-term effects of a global work situation with distance-based work and digital work processes.

Cette thèse tente d’analyser qualitativement et quantitativement les impacts, parfois déstabilisateurs, de l’excès de liquidité mondiale sur les prix des actifs des marchés émergents. Cet excès de liquidité mondiale s’est notamment matérialisé par un essor des investissements de portefeuille vers les marchés émergents, essor dont l’étude est devenue un thème central que ce soit pour les décideurs politiques ou pour l’industrie de la gestion d’actifs. A ce titre, nous nous proposons de contourner les faiblesses des données de la Balance des Paiements en construisant un indicateur non-retardé et à haute fréquence des flux de portefeuille, et ce, grâce aux données EPFR. La dynamique de recherche de rendement induite par la mise en place de politiques monétaires non conventionnelles par les principales banques centrales des marchés développés a eu pour effet une forte inflation des prix des actifs, au premier rang desquels figurent les marchés d’actions émergents, marchés sur lesquels de potentielles bulles ont pu faire leur apparition dans la période qualifiée de « Nouvelle Normale ». / This thesis aims to qualitatively and quantitatively analyse the sometimes destabilising impacts of global excess liquidity on emerging markets asset prices. This global excess liquidity has particularly manifested in a rise in portfolio capital flows towards emerging markets. The study of this rise has become a central topic both for policymakers and asset managers. As such, we propose to circumvent the Balance of Payments weaknesses by building a non-lagging and high frequency indicator of portfolio capital flows using the data provided by EPFR. The search for yield trend caused by the unconventional monetary policies undertaken by the main developed markets central banks has caused significant inflation in asset prices, most prominently in emerging equity markets, where potential bubbles have appeared during the so-called “New Normal” period.
