PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY CONTRACT SALES ORGANIZATION IMPACT AND EFFECTIVENESS

The principle behind outsourcing is that an organization outsources tasks it strategically elects not to do within the organization. It is estimated that outsourcing has become a $4 trillion a year business (Corbett, 2005). In today's competitive healthcare marketplace, many sponsors outsource functions that were once considered core to the organization. U.S. Census data show that 10% of all business-to-business sales originated from outsourced sales (Rogers, 2008). The objective of engaging in outsourcing of sales is to improve sales efficiency and gain an edge in today's challenging market. Competition within the pharmaceutical industry coupled with increased regulatory uncertainties and cost concerns have necessitated outsourcing of sales to maintain competitiveness and to apply internal resources more effectively. This research will contribute to the current available works specific to the outsourcing of pharmaceutical sales.

Secure Management of Networked Storage Services: Models and Techniques

With continued advances in computing, the amount of digital data continues to grow at an astounding rate. This has strained enterprise infrastructures and triggered development of service oriented architectures. In recent years, storage has also begun its transformation into a class of service. By outsourcing storage to an external storage service provider (SSP), enterprises not only cut management cost but also obtain on-demand infrastructure with superior disaster recovery and content dissemination capabilities. Wide deployment of this new outsourced storage environment requires solutions to many challenging problems. The foremost is the development of usable security and access control mechanisms that provide desirable levels of data confidentiality without placing an inordinate amount of trust into the SSP. This absence of a trusted reference monitor is a fundamental departure from traditional mechanisms and new solutions are required. The second important challenge is the autonomic management of SSP's infrastructure, uniquely characterized by a highly dynamic workload with large data capacity requirements. This dissertation research proposes models and techniques to address these two challenges. First, we introduce a novel access control system called xACCESS that uses cryptographic access control primitives (CAPs) to "embed" access control into stored data. This eliminates any dependency on the SSP for enforcement of security policies. We also analyze the privacy characteristics of its data sharing mechanisms and propose enhancements for more secure and convenient data sharing. We also develop a secure multiuser search approach that permits hosting of secured search indices at untrusted SSPs. We introduce a novel access control barrel (ACB) primitive that embeds access control into indices to prevent unauthorized information extraction during search. Our contribution to the autonomic SSP storage management has two important highlights. First, we have developed an impact analysis engine that efficiently analyzes the impact of a client-initiated change (workload surge, storage growth) on the SSP storage area network with minimal administrator involvement. Second, we have designed a new algorithm to quickly perform reallocation of resources in order to efficiently integrate the client change.

This is quantitative study, whose goal was to identify and measure the manifestations of pleasure-pain of outsourced workers of hygiene and cleanliness of a public hospital. Were used as data collection instruments, data collection of sociodemographic and labor indicators and scale of pleasure and pain at work (EIPST). Data were analyzed using SPSS software. The results indicate that the vast majority of these workers are women and in spare moments give priority to spend time with family, perform household chores, walking and traveling. Their main wishes for the future are to have a better job and health. Regarding measuring pleasure and suffering of these workers, it was found that the Professional Achievement and Recognition in this workplace are sources of pleasure and suffering that arises from the lack of Freedom of Expression and Emotional Exhaustion. / Trata-se de uma pesquisa quantitativa, cujo objetivo foi identificar e mensurar as manifestações de prazer-sofrimento dos trabalhadores terceirizados da higiene e limpeza de um hospital público. Foram utilizados como instrumentos de coleta de dados, o levantamento de dados sóciodemográficos e laborais e a escala de indicadores de prazer e sofrimento no trabalho (EIPST). Os dados foram analisados através do programa estatístico SPSS. Os resultados apontam que a grande maioria destes trabalhadores são mulheres e nos momentos de folga dão prioridade para passar um tempo com a família, realizar os afazeres domésticos, passear e viajar. Já os desejos para o futuro são um emprego melhor e ter saúde. Ao mensurar o prazer e sofrimento destes trabalhadores constatou-se que a Realização Profissional e Reconhecimento neste local de trabalho são fontes de prazer e o sofrimento surge da Falta de Liberdade de Expressão e do Esgotamento Emocional.

The investigation project 'Um estudo sobre a atividade das crianças no setor de joias e bijuterias em Limeira', aims to fill an existent gap in the educational area, due to the fact that there are not researches referring to the theme in the sector of semi-jewels in Limeira, county which is considered the Brazilian capital of veneers and being few the jobs which give emphasis to the symbolic, cultural and historical aspects of this type of research. In order to answer the leading questions, this work is based on a whole theoretical structure, coming from a literary background about the subject and having a more empirical character which will be verified by questionnaires with formal and informal questions, clarifying how the process of production of the pieces is given, besides semi-structured interviews with students from Emeief Professora Maria Apparecida de Luca Moore, located at the Parque Residencial Aeroporto in Limeira, school that assists children who work with semi-jewels inside their homes, in order to verify their labor conditions, searching for gathering as much information as possible about these conditions and the consequences of this labor inside and outside the classroom. / O trabalho infantil tem sido apresentado à sociedade muitas vezes por meio do trabalho em família. No entanto, na cidade de Limeira, o trabalho infantil ganhou repercussão após a dissertação de Marcos Antonio Libardi Ferreira (2005) ser publicada. The goal is initially to show the devaluation of work from antiquity to the early twentieth century, when the constitutions began to standardize protective devices. This way, the consecration of the social labor rights in the Constitution of 1988 represents the culmination of the historical achievements. This work demonstrates that such rights can not be reduced or suppressed by political conveniences, once these rights are included in the list of immutable clauses. It is displayed that to achieve the fundamental right to work is not well advised to encourage the creation of jobs that maculates the worker s dignity. The outsourced work is, therefore, a classic example of the advancement of precarious forms of contemporary labor. It is inferred that the presence of various forms of harassment results in a degradation of working environment, bringing about dire consequences on professional and personal life of the worker. Thus, decent work must be the appropriate benchmark for the creation of new jobs. It is also shown that the flexibilization of the propaganda rights by certain pressure groups has as main goal to reduce or eliminate rights, based on fallacious data depicting an increase of competitiveness and jobs. In addition, the flexibility implies a growth of the precarization of the work - a reality felt by many workers subjected to such a situation due to the unemployment phenomenon whose origin is not in the protectionism of the norms. It is necessary to expand and structure the constitutionally legitimate institutions to monitor and curb the precarized work, as well as all practices that go against the dignity of the worker. It is also shown the loss of power of the sindicates in the last few years as a consequence of the pulverization workes and the capital attacks through the productive restructure whose outsourcings and privatizations are notorious examples / Este trabalho tem por objetivo mostrar que a prote??o da rela??o de emprego ? um dos fatores determinantes para o respeito ao princ?pio da dignidade da pessoa humana. Busca-se, inicialmente, mostrar a desvaloriza??o do trabalho desde a antig?idade at? o in?cio do s?culo XX, quando as constitui??es come?aram a normatizar dispositivos protetores. Desse modo, a consagra??o dos direitos sociais trabalhistas na Constitui??o de 1988 representa o ?pice das conquistas hist?ricas. O trabalho demonstra que tais direitos n?o podem ser reduzidos ou suprimidos por conveni?ncias pol?ticas, haja vista a inser??o destes no rol de cl?usulas p?treas. Exhibiting Performing Subjects : Curating Outsourced Performance Labour in Museum Settings

The thesis examines challenges museum curators face when outsourced performers – whose role it is to embody the work of other artists – are included in exhibition projects. The research questions are: What are the practical, juridical and ethical challenges that come with situating outsourced performance labour in the museum setting? What does the inclusion of live performance in exhibition projects mean for the role of the museum curator? Two exhibition cases in Stockholm are studied in the thesis: Marina Abramović – The Cleaner (2017) at Moderna Museet and Dora García, I Always Tell the Truth at Bonniers Konsthall (2018–19). The material consists of digital surveys that were sent out to employed performers from each exhibition case as well as interviews that were conducted with both performers and curatorial staff. The material was examined using theories on affective labour and the theoretical notion of de-skilling and re-skilling of acquired competences.  The thesis shows that the practical challenges include the architectural conditions of museum buildings, insufficient prior knowledge on what working with performers entail, short project timespans and limited exhibition budgets. The juridical challenges include a lack of union recommendations for performance in museums and the difficulty of situating reperformances of historical works that in its form and duration may go against national labour regulations. The ethical challenges include commodification of performers’ subjectivity through instances of affective labour and mechanisms of objectification. In turn, both the outsourced performer and the museum curator turned performance curator inhabits a precarious working situation. The role of the performance curator is highly administrational and organisationally tedious in its positioning between curatorship, performing arts production and human resource management. Additionally, it entails a prodigious amount of affective labour in the reproductive mode – of emotional investments, conflict resolution and social liaison.

Gestão público-privada nos serviços de Atenção Primária à Saúde no município de São Paulo / Public-private management in Primary Health Care services in the city of São Paulo

Introdução: A gestão público-privada na saúde brasileira, fortalecida após a criação das Organizações Sociais (OSs) no País, em 1998, se intensifica também na rede de atenção primária da cidade de São Paulo. Segundo a Secretaria Municipal da Saúde, das 449 UBSs existentes na capital paulista em 2014, 280 (62,3%) eram administradas via contrato de gestão ou convênios com entidades sem fins lucrativos. Faltam, no entanto, estudos que explorem o impacto da adoção desse modelo nas unidades de atenção primária. Objetivos: Analisar estrutura, processo e resultado das unidades de atenção primária da cidade de São Paulo segundo a modalidade de gestão e a entidade gestora. Métodos: Foi adotado estudo descritivo e exploratório em que foram analisados três bancos de dados do segundo ciclo do Programa Nacional para Melhoria do Acesso e Qualidade da Atenção Básica (PMAQ-AB) referentes às Unidades Básicas de Saúde da cidade de São Paulo, o que significou uma amostra de 264 unidades/911 equipes. Foram escolhidos 28 indicadores para análise (um de estrutura, dez de processo e 17 de resultado). As UBSs e equipes de atenção primária foram classificadas de acordo com sua modalidade de gestão e entidade gestora e os resultados de cada grupo em cada um dos indicadores foram separados. Foram realizados testes estatísticos (quiquadrado e Anova) para verificar a significância das diferenças encontradas. Resultados: Dos 28 indicadores analisados, 10 registraram diferença significativa entre equipes com diferentes modalidades de gestão. Em oito deles, houve melhor desempenho das equipes de unidades com gestão público-privada. Já na análise por entidade gestora, 25 dos 28 indicadores analisados tiveram diferenças significativas, com diferenças importantes entre unidades de administração públicoprivada, mas com entidades gestoras diferentes. Conclusões: Os resultados indicam que a contratualização na atenção básica pode colaborar com o aumento do acesso e produtividade dos serviços. No entanto, as evidências não são fortes o suficiente para concluir que um modelo é superior ao outro. Ficou claro que a entidade gestora parece ter um peso maior no desempenho das unidades e equipes do que simplesmente a modalidade de gestão. / Introduction: Public-private management in Brazilian healthcare system, strengthened after the creation of Social Organizations (OSs) in the country in 1998, is also strong in the primary care services of the city of São Paulo. Methods: A descriptive and exploratory study was carried out in which three databases of the second cycle of the National Program for Improving Access and Quality of Primary Care (PMAQ-AB) were analyzed for the Basic Health Units of the city of São Paulo, Brazil. which meant a sample of 264 units / 911 teams. We selected 28 indicators for analysis (one of structure, ten of process and 17 of outcomes). The UBSs and primary care teams were classified according to their management modality and managing entity and the results of each group in each of the indicators were separated. Statistical tests (chisquare and Anova) were performed to verify the significance of the differences found. Results: From the 28 indicators analyzed, ten registered a significant difference between teams with different management modalities. In seven of them, there was better performance of the teams of units with public-private management. In the analysis by management entity, 25 of the 28 indicators analyzed had significant differences, with significant differences among public-private administration services with different management entities. Conclusions: The results indicate that contracting in primary care may contribute to increased access and productivity of services. However, the evidence is not strong enough to conclude that one model is superior to the other. It became clear that the management entity seems to have a greater weight in the performance of the services and teams than simply the management modality.
