Capacidade de pagamento e cobrança pelo uso e degradação dos recursos hídricos / Users willingness to pay and charge for the use and degradation of water resources

Giovanni Margarido Righetto 10 May 2001 (has links)
This study analyses the introduction of a method for levied on the use of water in which economic and environmental aspect, are considered as basic variables in the determination of the amount to be charged. It presents various ways for measuring the willingness of the users to pay for water in order to compare it to the the charges levied. The willingness to pay is an important mechanism for obtaining information about the economic impact of the policy of levying taxes. The results show that, depending upon the saturation degree of the water bodies, some sectors would have difficulty in paying the charges even when they show positive willingness to pay. It shows the importance of a management policy that considers the duality site-type in the decision-making process as regards the implantation of economic activities. Elasticity in demand prices is another important factor in this process. Depending upon the conditions of elasticity, a production unit would be able to honor its tax liabilities despit its delicate financial situation.

Conclui-se que a qualidade de vida pode ser afetada pela saúde bucal, portanto políticas públicas para a promoção de saúde nessa população são necessárias / Abstract: This cross-sectional study aimed to assess the impact of oral health on quality of life of drug users attended by CAPS-AD three cities the State of São Paulo: Limeira, Piracicaba and Rio Claro. Were analyzed 262 drug users. Reviews of dental caries were conducted according to WHO standards. The oral examination will be conducted by one trained and calibrated examiner, under natural light at CAPS-AD, using the CPI periodontal probe and dental mirror with previous drying teeth. The socioeconomic variables, self-perceived oral health, quality of life were identified through of the following instruments: OHIP - 14 (Oral Health Impact Profile), WHOQOL (World Health Organization quality of Life), Meneghim et al, 2007. For screening of involvement with alcohol, tobacco and other substances, WHO ¿ ASSIST. Initially the frequency distribution tables and the chi-square test were constructed was used with a significance level of 5 %, to assess the associations between quality of life (WHOQOL) and the impact of oral health on quality of life (OHIP) (dependent variables) and the other study variables (independent variables) . Variables with p < 0.20 in simple analyzes estimated for the indicators that remained in the multiple regression at the 5 % model. The statistical program used to perform all analyzes was SAS (SAS, 12.3). Thus, individuals with DMFT > 13 (OR = 2.25, 95% CI = 1.30 to 3.89), low income (OR = 2.41, 95% CI = 1.15 to 3.59 1.22 -4.77) and user of cocaine / crack (OR = 2.02, 95% CI = 1.15 to 3.59) were more likely to have lower quality of life. Volunteers with good oral hygiene and regular (OR = 3.63, 95% CI = 1.96 to 6.75), who reported no pain (OR = 2.69, 95% CI = 1.67 to 4.60) are more likely to have lower impact of oral health on quality of life. We conclude that quality of life can be affected by oral health , so public policies for health promotion in this population are needed / Mestrado / Saude Coletiva / Mestra em Odontologia

The notion that drug use is a problem to be deleted, powered by a row of falling public health, limited possibilities for advance changes in attention to people who are using drugs, their effective access to public health services. Given this frame (visible), within the limits of those forms or notions, the harm reduction movement operates as tensor, producing a subtraction dynamic differences creator: lines of caution that desafinam relations constants, determining that a public policy of drugs somewhat daunting, or even fantasmatics and hypertrophied, and neurotic. With this, knowing that never is in front of a blank screen, this research aims to make possible other fund to think about a drug policy. Take, this the cleaning procedure and traces of the painter Francis Bacon, which in itself already suggests changing a frame, in the case of sinking of the current drug policy rearticulation of health practices among people that use drugs. But the question is how this change can be made? Thus, when launching the stain, the dash, the cry of WHAT CAN HARM REDUCTION?, launches the action in the territory, to meet a connecting zone with other traits. The dash-line that runs away, so subtract of possibilities a priori to care given, while concurring with other traits, expressing a care. An Empirical Investigation of the Effects of Individual Differences and Data Models on the Ease-of-Use of Database Query Facilties by Casual Users

Ray, Howard N. (Howard Newton) 08 1900 (has links)
The problem motivating this study is that database query facilities are not effectively meeting the needs of casual users. A solution to this problem is especially important due to the increasing number of potential casual users. There is considerable controversy revolving around the question of which elements and/or which combination of elements within the casual users' environment are necessary to provide an effective man/machine interface. The purpose of the study is to extend the basic knowledge relating to the effect of using different data models, the effect of cognitive style differences, and the interaction effects of these two independent variables on casual users' performance and confidence in writing database queries. The data models being investigated are the relational, hierarchical, and network models. The cognitive style classifications used are two of the Jungian dimensions, Sensing/Intuition and Thinking/Feeling.

Industry Foundation Classes : A study of its requested use in Configura

Jensen, Henrik January 2015 (has links)
Configura Sverige AB is developing the software solutions Configura and CET Designer for companies dealing with highly configurable and complex products that also require space planning. The aim is to simplify the selling process. Configura Sverige AB has received requests from their customers to be able to read and write files according to an ISO standard called Industry Foundation Classes (IFC). IFC is an open international standard within Building Information Modeling (BIM) to exchange data between different software applications used for projects in the building industry and facility management. To assist Configura Sverige AB in a decision on how to further proceed, questions why users request IFC, how they need to work with IFC, and about possible workflows with IFC are considered in this thesis. To answer the questions, an interpretive case study method was used to view the questions from different perspectives. A qualitative approach was used to collect and analyze data, involving for example a survey among users requesting IFC and input from two different contractors requesting IFC files from these users. The results show that users have been requested by architects and contractors to supply IFC files, and a conclusion is that demands on the use of BIM and IFC within the public sector in certain countries is a major reason to these requests. The results has much focus on import and export of IFC files and on possible workflows using IFC files. With IFC files, users may be a part of a collaboration between several different disciplines within the building industry. Users need to base their work on other disciplines models, which in many cases will be the architect's IFC file. An IFC export shall only include the user's products, it will be up to another application to integrate these products in a coordination BIM. The IFC export will be used for interdisciplinary coordination, visualization and collision detection and it is important to use simple graphical representation of the products.

Inloggning på trådlöst nätverk vid Umeå Stadsbibliotek / Login authentication for users and guests at Umeå City Library

Eriksson, John January 2015 (has links)
The goal of this project is to present a solution for the wireless network at the city library in Umeå. The new system will allow users to log on to the wireless network using their library card along with a password of some kind. There must also be a way for guests without library cards to be allowed access to the network in some way. The result of this project was based on hardware that Umeå already had access to, and certain functions in that hardware that hasn’t been explored earlier and offered a lot of potential. This solution was tested to some extent and could be implemented in a near future.

How many participants are needed when usability testing physical products? : An analysis of data collected from usability tests conducted on physical products

Henstam, Pontus January 2018 (has links)
Testing a product on users before releasing it on the market can be very rewarding but also costly for companies. Therefore testing products on just the right number of users, that will be enough to include the benefits of the tests while keeping down the costs, would be most beneficial. A common advice means that five participants are enough to include in such tests. This advice is based on research mainly from testing computer-based interfaces on users. Though, how well this advice can be applied when testing physical products on users is less investigated. This thesis has investigated how many participants that are needed when testing physical products on users. A literature study and an analysis of data collected from physical products tested on users were conducted. The results show that using five participants when testing physical products on users cannot be counted on to be enough. The results also show that the number of participants to use, when testing physical products on users, vary.

The experiences of professional nurses working in district hospitals in the Western Cape metropole, where 72-hour assessments are conducted

van Zyl, Verna January 2016 (has links)
Magister Curationis - MCur / Background: The integration of mental health into primary health care meant that patients were admitted into a less restrictive environment. They received treatment for mental illness in their communities, therefore, averting unnecessary hospitalisation in psychiatric hospitals. However, given that patients with mental illnesses were admitted to district hospitals as involuntary mental health care users (MHCUs), this setting was purported to be fraught with challenges for both staff and patients. Aim and objectives: The aim of this study was to explore and describe the experiences of professional nurses, working at selected district hospitals in the Western Cape metropole, where 72-hour assessments of involuntary mental health care users are conducted. The objectives of this study were to determine how the 72-hour unit functioned in the general ward, the experiences of professional nurses regarding the integration of the 72-hour assessment units in the general ward and suggested improvements. Methodology: A qualitative research approach, with a descriptive phenomenological design, was used to collect data through semi-structured interviews from eight (8) professional nurses, working in the two selected district hospitals in the Cape Town metropole area. Purposive sampling was employed to select the participants. Data were analysed using Tesch’s method of qualitative data analysis. Four themes, namely, patient management process affected the functioning of the ward, patient management challenges in rendering patient care, burden of caring on the Self, and staff and patient support to create a therapeutic environment, emerged during data analysis, which encapsulated the nurse's experience of working in 72-hour assessment units in selected district hospitals. Findings: The findings of this revealed that the district hospitals were ill prepared for the admission of involuntary mental health care users. There were challenges, in terms of resources, namely, infrastructure to create a therapeutic environment, knowledgeable and skilled staff to care for the MHCUs. The MHCUs were contained in the district hospitals for longer than was legislated, rather than receiving therapeutic interventions at psychiatric facilities. Needs were identified to improve the functioning of the 72-hour assessment units, which included education and training of personnel, Discussion: The non-therapeutic environment had a negative impact on the staff working in the 72-hour assessment units. Nursing staff were burdened with caring for patients in an environment where they, as well as the MHCUs, were stigmatised due to the diagnosis of mental illness. However, the participants internalised their own experiences, as they prioritised the MHCUs well-being. The findings supported previous studies, which revealed that the objectives of the Mental Health Care Act (No. 17 of 2002), which supported the integration of mental health into primary health care, were not realised after more than a decade of implementation. Recommendations: Given the limited scope of this thesis, replications of this study in other district hospitals are recommended, in order to ascertain whether the objectives of the MHCA (2002), regarding 72-hour assessments, have been realised. A therapeutic environment, which includes infrastructure and resources to ensure that MHCUs receive care, treatment and rehabilitation within the district hospitals, is required. The recruitment and retention of adequate, skilled permanent staff is crucial, to ensure that MHCUs receive care, treatment and rehabilitation. Finally, the training and education of all personnel (including security) working in the selected district hospitals should be mandatory, in order to address patient care and stigma related to mental illness.
