Diferentes abordagens evolutivas aplicadas no processo de transcrição automática de partituras musicais em tablaturas / Different evolutionary approaches applied in the process of automatic transcription of music scores into tablaturesRamos, João Víctor 11 December 2015 (has links)
A tablature is an alternative music notation format for string instruments. It contains the exact position (string and fret) witch needs to be played to produce the desired sound. The conversion of the musical staff notation (sheet music) to a guitar tablature, also known as transcription, is not a straightforward process. The reason is that each note on the music notation format can be played in different positions of the guitar fretboard. So this problem can be classified as a combinatorial optimization problem. In this work, we have employed a comparative study of different algorithms: A*, genetic algorithms (AG), genetic algorithms with use of subpopulations (AG-SP), ant colony optimization (ACO) and differential evolution (ED). I was also included heuristics based on local search 2-opt and 3-opt in the aproaches AG, AG-SP and ED. The experimental results with a dataset of 87 monophonic musics indicated that the approaches ACO, AG-SP 2-opt and AG 2-opt obtained the best results. Finally, each approach were statistically compared using the ANOVA with the Tukey post hoc, where the analysis indicated that there are significant differences between the evaluated algorithms.

Previous issue date: 2015-02-25 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This paper deals with some peculiarities involving mathematical writing that generate many communication problems through different perspectives. In a time where the Internet is increasingly used and where it is common to see people on the streets carrying tablet computers, smartphones and even laptops, it is unacceptable that there is no simple and common knowledge way to insert a mathematic equation on a web search. Initially we address the interaction between people with special needs, especially those who make use of applications or devices for easy communication, then treat the virtual communication applied to the form of distance education, whether instantaneous or not instantaneous. Following deal about differences between Mathematics written in Portuguese and other languages as well as inconsistencies in mathematical notation observed in Brazil. Then treat the common text input forms used in Information and Communication Technologies to finish with a rough draft agreement that meets the needs exposed at work.

Mathematical symbolisation: challenges and instructional strategies for Limpopo Province secondary school learnersMutodi, Paul 09 1900 (has links)
This study reports on an investigation into the manner in which mathematical symbols influence learners’ understanding of mathematical concepts. The study was conducted in Greater Sekhukhune and Capricorn districts of Limpopo Province, South Africa. Multistage sampling (for the district), simple random sampling (for the schools), purposive sampling (for the teachers) and stratified random sampling with proportional allocation (for the learners) were used. The study was conducted in six schools randomly selected from rural, semi-urban and urban settings. A sample of 565 FET learners and 15 FET band mathematics teachers participated in the study. This study is guided by four interrelated constructivist theories: symbol sense, algebraic insight, APOS and procept theories. The research instruments for the study consist of questionnaires and interviews. A mixed method approach that was predominantly qualitative was employed. An analysis of learners’ difficulties with mathematical symbols produced three (3) clusters. The main cluster consists of 236 (41.6%) learners who indicate that they experience severe challenges with mathematical symbols compared to 108 (19.1%) learners who indicated that they could confidently handle and manipulate mathematical symbols with understanding. Six (6) categories of challenges with mathematical symbols emerged from learners’ encounters with mathematical symbols: reading mathematical text and symbols, prior knowledge, time allocated for mathematical classes and activities, lack of symbol sense and problem contexts and pedagogical approaches to mathematical symbolisation. Two sets of theme classes related to learners’ difficulties with mathematical symbols and instructional strategies emerged. Learners lack symbol sense for mathematical concepts and algebraic insight for problem solving. Learners stick to procedurally driven symbols at the expense of conceptual and contextual understanding. From a pedagogical perspective teachers indicated that they face the following difficulties when teaching: the challenge of introducing unfamiliar notation in a new topic; reading, writing and verbalising symbols; signifier and signified connections; and teaching both symbolisation and conceptual understanding simultaneously. The study recommends teachers to use strategies such as informed choice of subject matter and a pedagogical approach in which concepts are understood before they are symbolised.
As avaliações apresentam resultados promissores. / To enable effective business process management, the first step is the design of appropriate process models to the organization’s objectives. These models are used to describe roles and responsibilities of the employees in an organizations. In addition, business process modeling is very important to report, understand and automate processes. However, the documentation existent in organizations about such processes is mostly unstructured and difficult to be understood by analysts. In this context, process modeling becomes highly time consuming and expensive, generating process models that do not comply with the reality of the organizations. The extracting of process models from textual descriptions may contribute to minimize the effort required in process modeling. In this context, this dissertation proposes a semi-automatic approach to identify process elements in natural language text. Based on the study of natural language processing, it was defined a set of mapping rules to identify process elements in text. In addition, in order to evaluate the mapping rules and to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach, a prototype was developed able to identify process elements in text in a semiautomatic way To measure the performance of the proposed prototype metrics were used to retrieve information such as precision, recall, and F-measure. In addition, two surveys were developed with the purpose of verifying the acceptance of the users. The evaluations present promising results. The analyses of 70 texts presented, on average, 73.61% precision, 70.15% recall and 71.82% F-measure. In addition, the results of the first and second surveys presented on average 91.66% acceptance of the participants. The main contribution of this work is to provide mapping rules for identify process elements in natural language text to support and minimize the time required for process modeling performed by process analysts.

A precisão nesta etapa do
Requirement Engineering Methods and Processes have become a focus point for scientic
research, in which quality, cost estimates and time frames are elaborated as good practices
in development. Building a software product includes several phases, and the most complex
is to know exactly what to build. Precision is essential during this phase of the project,
because if the specication fails, there will be greater loss at the end of the software system
project. The main reason for software project failures is inept management of system
requirements, generating high costs that have to be corrected in the phases following requirement survey, and creating dissatisfaction for all those involved. Thus, producing quality software is a complex task, which demands understanding, planning, and compliance to provide the necessary solutions. This paper presents a methodology for developing requirement specifications, with an approach directed towards aligning IT and Business through a requirement engineering process integrating Use Case with Business Process Modeling Notation. Through case studies presented and applied at a private health care insurance company, the methodology proved to be eective, by reducing exceeding the agreed-upon budget by 69.68%. Additionally, this study is still on-going at the abovementioned company, optimizing resources and reaching better results for the organization.

We believe that, according to the proposals contained in the Manifesto, in these scores we can find evidence of an attempt to renew musical aesthetics determined by the experimentalavant-gardethought, which can be examined on the basis of thecreation of new graphics, representing procedures of indeterminacy, improvisation, timbristic explorations and the incorporation of elements of poetic, theatrical and visual languages. The focus of the research is the Concerto para Tímpanos, Caixa e Percussão (Gilberto Mendes, 1991), Antinomies I (Rogério Duprat, 1962) and Memos (Willy Corrêa de Oliveira, 1977). In discussing the notation characteristics for percussion in these parts, we identified the positioning of the sixties avant-garde in its search for novelty that we also intend to evaluate through a trial of these three composers to incorporate typical Brazilian percussion instruments in their experimental music, in this case: the berimbau, the cuíca and the agogô, checking the notation problem for these instruments

This PhD dissertation presents the analysis of the link between the government debt market, sovereign risk, financial stability and development of the local currency debt in emerging economies. The reserch contribution to the academic literature lies in the empirical analysis of capital flows in bond markets and, for this purpose, I constructed a novel database covering domestic and foreign holdings of government bonds in developed and emerging economies. As a result, this disertation projects a complete and coherent image of the globalisation of sovereign bond markets.

The signaling perspective argues that when a firm limits the extent of its sustainability disclosure, it prevents stakeholders from evaluating its achieved degree of sustainability performance, and may thus reach higher financial returns. However, transparency is an institutionalized norm that stakeholders value, and firms may not be able to limit their disclosure without being penalized. This thesis therefore raises the question of whether firms can strategically limit their sustainability disclosure to reach higher profits, or if pressure for conformity to the norm of transparency exists and weakens such strategies. Using econometrical methods, this thesis empirically shows that sustainability raters do not converge in their assessment of firms’ sustainability performance, supporting the assumption that firmsmay prevent stakeholders from evaluating their actual degree of sustainability. It also shows that less sustainable and more reputed firms are more likely to limit their sustainability disclosure, that highly sustainable firms encounter higher short and long term financial returns when they adopt an extensive disclosure, and that less sustainable firms, on the contrary are more profitable in the short term when theylimit their disclosure. This thesis therefore shows that in line with the signaling perspective, firms may strategically adjust the extent on their disclosure to reach higher returns in the short term. However, in the long term, normative pressure for transparency is too high and weakens the benefits of such strategies.
