People, Environment and Recourses : A Study of the Archivists Role as a Consultant.

Gustafsson, Sara January 2017 (has links)
The aim of the thesis is to examine how archivists work as consultants and how they perceive their professional role.  The research emanates from the notion of resources and how these relate to aspects like environment and roles. The resources that the consultant can use in their work are dependent on which environment they are located in. The resources and the environment in turn effect the archivist’s role and the exertion of their profession. The study focuses on three Swedish archivists that are employed at the city archive of Stockholm and work as consultants to businesses of the city. The empirical study is based first on observations and then interviews. Grounded theory is used as a method, initially in the purpose of finding a theory that originates from the viewpoint of the informants. The results from this analysis highlight the way the consultants use resources in their everyday work. Theories concerning roles and environment are used to show how the insufficiency or availability of resources effect the roles and work of the consultants, as described here above. The result of the analysis show that the consultant’s role changes depending on which environment they are located in and whether or not they have access to certain resources. For example, time can both be an asset and a limitation. When the consultants work in an environment for a short period of time, their role are seen as an expert and they also advance in the hierarchy of the customer’s company. Simultaneously, the shortage of time can also pressure the consultant to make a less sufficient job. This in turn effects the role that the consultants have within their own establishment, in this case the city archive. Because of the shortage of time the consultants are, occasionally, instead seen as “sloppy” or not even considered to be real archivists.  The study also shows that the role as a consultant might enable the archivist to better market their knowledge and become a more significant part of companies’ and businesses’ everyday work, and furthermore that additional research is needed.

Dokumenthantering inom den medicintekniska branschen : En fallstudie

Jonsson, Julia January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to examine the records management in an enterprise in the private sector. The thesis dis-cuss the process construction within the core business and how the employee interpreters its construction. Also the goals in the processes are discussed by their Quality Management System and what the employees sees as their goals in the processes. To understand how people manage their records the information culture is studied in different variations, for example in observations and in records management systems. The case study which has been examined is a multinational enterprise in the medical technology industry. The industry is characterized by regulations, such as Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and International Organi-zation of Standardization (ISO). To put the findings in the thesis in a perspective the Swedish process oriented archival description is used as a counterpoint, to highlight similarities and contradictions with the aim of develop-ing the different perspective in both private and public sector from an archival science point of view. The position-ing is organization theory with the aim of process orientation and different ways to perform a process description. As a method to understand the organization and how the core business is assembled, a process description was created based on both the enterprise's Quality Management System and the interviews performed. To overview the general records management in the enterprise, the employees were asked to perform a survey about their hab-its and point of views about records management. The result of the analysis shows that the enterprise's Quality Management System mainly describes their pro-cesses in a way to achieve quality, requirements and efficiency. And not in a way that helps the employee to pre-form records management in a sustainable and long-term way. A long-term storage is in this case study about 10 years after the product has been out of production and in some few cases more. The thesis has shown that in many cases, only adequate solutions occur in records management in the enterprise, and this attitude is part of the in-formation culture. Adequate solutions means that the enterprise still fulfills the regulations that FDA and ISO require. But the records management that's part of their daily work routines can improve to prevent human errors and to ensure the quality of long-term storage. This is a two years master's thesis in Archive studies.

Genus i arkiv : En fallstudie om kvinnors arkivmaterial i Sveriges Pressarkiv / Gender in Archives : A Case Study of the archival documents of women in the Swedish Archive of Press

Jansdotter, Evelina January 2017 (has links)
This thesis aims to study the archiving of Womens archival documents in the Swedish Archive of Press. Through a case study three aspects of archival practice will be studied: collecting, description and availability. The study also aims to shed light on the issues of gender and archives and to emphasize the possibilities that gender perspectives offer to make women visible in archives. The theoretical framework consists of gender theory, intersectional perspectives and archival theory. The method used is a case study in which text studies, interviews and analysis of the historical background and con- text together form a triangulation witch aims to strengthen the analysis. The source material consists of archival inventories of the women’s personal archives, archival documents, transcripted interviews and historical literature. The results of this study shows that women have been made both visible and unvisable in the archival hold- ings. It also shows how structures based on gender, in society and within archival practice, has through unreflect- ing practices led to women being made visible and unvisable in archival holdings. The results also show how the archival practice partly rests on a basis of the notion of archives and archivists as neutral and objective. To im- plement gender perspectives in archival practice this notion needs to be replaced by an awareness of the power relations that exists within the archival profession and archival institutions.

Kunden i centrum : En avgörande kvalitetsprincip / Focus on Customer : A Crucial Quality Principle

Boije, Sara January 2019 (has links)
This study aims to use the quality principle: Customer Focus, based from the concept of Total Quality Management, as a base for an empirical study. The chosen organization that has been the subject of the study is GotlandsHem AB, the largest housing agent on Gotland island. The study has been carried out as a project and has been based on a preliminary study that was previously carried out in the spring, 2019. The preliminary study showed seven problem areas within the organization, one of which was chosen to be the focus of the project. The problem area has been named Customer Perspective and deals with which perspectives GotlandsHem uses today as a basis for the daily activities. A crucial principle that many companies today are trying to maintain, is the quality principle: Customer Focus. The purpose of this study is to investigate and evaluate which principles related to their customers, GotlandsHem uses today. The purpose also includes how the company can use Customer Focus to better understand how they can use their own principles to control their daily work and affect Customer Satisfaction. The design for the study is qualitative with a deductive approach. The study design for the study is a case study and the data collection method used is semi-structured interviews. The study is based on several theoretical concepts: Customer, Customer Satisfaction, TQM, Quality, and Customer Focus. The theoretical background also deals with measurement of Customer Satisfaction and Quality. The result showed that there are different perceptions about whether GotlandsHem works according to the quality principle: Customer Focus. It also revealed the current principles GotlandsHem works according by today.   Key words: customer, customer focus, customer satisfaction, principle, total quality management / Den här studien avser att sätta kvalitetsprincipen kunden i centrum, från konceptet Totat Quality Management, i relation till ett verkligt exempel. Nyckelord: kund, kunden i centrum, kundfokus, kundtillfredsställelse, offensiv kvalitetsutveckling, princip.

Digitaliseringens framgång : En kunskapsöversikt kring digitala verktyg i biologi.

Andersson, Louise, Larsson, Elin January 2019 (has links)

Gestures and Groups : An interaction analysis of hand gestures during in-group and out-group speech / Gester och grupper : En interaktionsanalys av handgester under tal om in-grupper och ut-grupper

Lindblad, Patricia January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine how body language, specifically handgestures, correlate to in-group and out-group notions. To approach the issue thehand gestures of two politicians are compared with a focus on how theirgestures relate to in-group and out-group notions in their speech. Interactionanalysis is applied, and the gestures of each politician are categorised andsummarised to be analysed. The analysis reveals that there is a distinctdifference between the two politicians in what gestures they use over all, andconsequently also differences in their gestures when discussing in-groups versusout-groups. However, the main takeaway from the discussion is that one of thepoliticians is directing their gestures towards the camera, whereas the otherpolitician mostly directs their gestures at the live audience.
