Previous issue date: 2012-01-06 / This study aims at analyzing the problem of the nostalgia for a complete story, with beginning, middle and end, in a period marked by fragmentation, on Generation X: Tales for an accelerated culture, by Douglas Coupland. The theoretical part is based on the studies of Fredric Jameson, David Harvey and Steven Connor with the purpose of understanding the discontinuity which the characters try to escape. In this first part, the idea of waning of affect, the problem of change of perspective in relation to time and space witnessed in postmodernism, as well as metafiction are discussed. Finally, the novel written by Douglas Coupland is analyzed, establishing relations between the construction of the characters and the narrative itself trying to demonstrate how the author tackled the issue of fragmentation in the late capitalist society. / O presente estudo analisa o problema da nostalgia por uma hist?ria completa, com in?cio, meio e fim, em uma ?poca marcada pela fragmenta??o, em Generation X: Tales for an accelerated culture, de Douglas Coupland. Com base nos estudos de Fredric Jameson, David Harvey e Steven Connor ? feito um percurso te?rico com a finalidade de entender a descontinuidade da qual as personagens tentam escapar. Nessa primeira etapa do trabalho ? discutido a ideia de esmaecimento dos afetos, do problema da mudan?a de perspectiva em rela??o ao tempo e ao espa?o presenciado na p?s-modernidade e a respeito da metafic??o. Por fim, analisa-se o romance, estabelecendo rela??es entre a constru??o das personagens e da pr?pria narrativa, procurando demonstrar como o autor percebeu a quest?o da fragmenta??o na sociedade do capitalismo tardio.

Pesquisa do Estado do RJ - FAPERJ / The postgraduate education field in Brazil has gone through several changes over time, mainly related to its evaluation system. Such a system was implemented in 1976 original form and function was to develop education and research in the country. The first evaluation was mainly a result of the proposed development in each particular program (CAPES, 2014 s / p). The last major change in the system occurred in 1998, when it was deployed Qualis Ranking (VI PGNP, 2010), a stratification system that classifies vehicles disclosure of intellectual production (CAPES, 2004 s / p). Thus, the evaluation shall be taken from the analysis of the quality of the disclosure vehicles, or work quality is considered accepted if a vehicle which has good score QUALIS system. Thus, educational organizations tend to require their professors / researchers more production items to convert them into publication, aiming to win dominant positions on the field. In this sense, the logic of productivity is within the field of the country graduate governed by the excessive production of articles to achieve maximum points. These changes now reach the field of teaching in graduate management in the state of Rio de Janeiro, an area where are concentrated the main field programs. It seems possible to say that this marked change in the evaluation system led to a restructuring of the field, where the agents begin to modify their practices to suit the evaluation and gain more power. Thus, the objective of the study is to understand how the logic of productivity influenced the power struggles among organizations that make up the administration in post-graduate course in the state of Rio de Janeiro, from the theoretical perspectives of Bourdieu. The author sees the field as a force interactions of space between the officers with a particular type of capital among the different existing types, to conquer the field domain. / O campo de p?s-gradua??o no Brasil passou por diversas mudan?as ao longo do tempo, principalmente relacionadas ao seu sistema de avalia??o. Tal sistema foi implantado em 1976 de forma inicial, e tinha como fun??o desenvolver a educa??o e a pesquisa no pa?s. A primeira avalia??o teve como principal resultado a proposta de evolu??o de cada programa em particular (CAPES, 2014, s/p). A ?ltima grande mudan?a no sistema ocorreu em 1998, quando foi implantado o Ranking Qualis (VI PNPG, 2010), um sistema de estratifica??o que classifica os ve?culos de divulga??o da produ??o intelectual (CAPES, 2004,s/p). Sendo assim, a avalia??o passa a ser feita a partir da an?lise da qualidade dos ve?culos de divulga??o, ou seja, o trabalho ? considerado de qualidade se for aceito em um ve?culo que possui boa pontua??o no sistema Qualis. Com isso, as organiza??es educacionais tendem a exigir de seus professores/pesquisadores mais produ??o de artigos para convert?-los em publica??o, almejando conquistar posi??es dominantes no campo. Nesse sentido, a l?gica produtivista se insere no campo da p?s-gradua??o do pa?s, regida pela a produ??o excessiva de artigos para alcan?ar o m?ximo de pontos. Essas mudan?as atingem hoje o campo do ensino da p?s-gradua??o em administra??o no estado do Rio de Janeiro, ?rea onde o est?o concentrados os principais programas do campo. Parece ser poss?vel afirmar que essa marcante mudan?a no sistema de avalia??o provocou uma reestrutura??o do campo, onde os agentes come?am a modificar suas pr?ticas para se adequar a avalia??o e ganhar mais poder. Dessa forma, o objetivo do estudo ? compreender como a l?gica produtivista influenciou as disputas de poder entre as organiza??es que comp?em o campo de p?s-gradua??o em administra??o no estado do Rio de Janeiro, a partir das perspectivas te?ricas de Bourdieu. O autor percebe o campo como um espa?o de intera??es de for?as entre os agentes dotados de um determinado tipo de capital, dentre os diferentes tipos existentes, para conquistarem o dom?nio do campo.

Previous issue date: 2016-08-24 / Introduction: Stroke is a complication responsible for high morbidity and mortality after cardiac surgery, affecting 1.3 to 4.3% and mortality between 13% and 41%. Several models have been proposed to assess the risk of mortality after cardiac surgery. However, most of these models doesn?t evaluate the postoperative morbidity. Objective: To develop a risk score model for postoperative stroke in patients undergoing cardiac surgery (coronary artery bypass surgery, valve replacement surgery and combined - CABG + valve replacement), with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Methods: The study sample included data from 4,862 adult patients who underwent cardiac surgery between January 1996 to December 2012, at the Hospital S?o Lucas. Logistic regression was used to evaluate the relationship between risk factors and the development of stroke. After univariate and multivariate analysis, data from 3,258 patients were used to develop the model. Its performance has been validated in the remaining patients (n = 1,604). The final model was constructed with the total sample, remaining the same variables. The accuracy of the model was tested using the area under the ROC curve. Results: The estimated incidence for stroke in the postoperative period was 3% (149). Among patients who developed stroke, 59.1% were male, 51% were aged ? 66 years and 31.5% died. The mean age of the study population was 58.9 ? 12 years. In multivariate analysis, five variables remained independent predictors for the outcome: age, urgent / emergency surgery, peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD), history of cerebrovascular disease (CVD) and cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) time> 110 minutes. The area under the ROC curve obtained was 0.71 (95% CI 0.66 to .75). Conclusion: The risk score allows to establish the calculation of the incidence of stroke after cardiac surgery using clinical and surgical variables (age, surgical priority, PAD, CVD history and CPB time). From these variables, it was possible to construct a risk score that classifies patients as low, medium, high and very high operative risk for cerebrovascular stroke. / Introdu??o: O acidente vascular cerebral (AVC) ? uma complica??o respons?vel por alta morbi-mortalidade no p?s-operat?rio de cirurgia card?aca, com incid?ncia de 1,3 a 4,3% e mortalidade entre 13% e 41%. V?rios modelos foram propostos para avaliar risco de mortalidade ap?s cirurgia card?aca. Entretanto, a maioria desses modelos n?o avalia a morbidade p?s-operat?ria. Objetivo: Desenvolver um modelo de escore de risco para AVC p?s-operat?rio de pacientes submetidos ? cirurgia card?aca (cirurgia de revasculariza??o do mioc?rdio, troca valvar e cirurgia combinada - CRM + troca valvar), com circula??o extracorp?rea (CEC). M?todos: A amostra do estudo incluiu dados de 4.862 pacientes adultos que realizaram cirurgia card?aca entre janeiro de 1996 a dezembro de 2012 no Hospital S?o Lucas da PUCRS. Regress?o log?stica foi utilizada para avaliar a rela??o entre fatores de risco e o desenvolvimento de AVC. Dados de 3.258 pacientes foram utilizados para desenvolver o modelo, ap?s an?lises uni e multivariada. Seu desempenho foi validado nos demais pacientes (n=1.604). O modelo final foi constru?do com a amostra total, permanecendo as mesmas vari?veis. A acur?cia do modelo foi testada utilizando-se a ?rea sob a curva ROC. Resultados: A incid?ncia estimada para AVC no p?s-operat?rio foi de 3% (149). Dentre os pacientes que desenvolveram o desfecho, 59,1% eram do sexo masculino, 51% tinham idade ? 66 anos e 31,5% evolu?ram para ?bito. Na an?lise multivariada, cinco vari?veis permaneceram preditoras independentes para o desfecho: idade avan?ada, cirurgia de urg?ncia/emerg?ncia, doen?a arterial obstrutiva perif?rica (DAOP), hist?ria de doen?a cerebrovascular (DCV) e tempo de circula??o extracorp?rea (CEC) > 110 minutos. A ?rea sob a curva ROC obtida foi de 0,71 (IC 95% 0,66 ? 0,75), Conclus?o: O escore de risco constru?do permite estabelecer c?lculo da incid?ncia de AVC ap?s cirurgia card?aca, utilizando vari?veis cl?nicas e cir?rgicas (idade, prioridade cir?rgica, DAOP, hist?ria de DCV e tempo de CEC). A partir dessas vari?veis, foi poss?vel construir um escore de risco que classifica o paciente como de baixo, m?dio, elevado e muito elevado risco operat?rio para o evento cerebrovascular AVC.

In this period, the course faced several changes, due to many factors as the recommendations of the national system of master and doctoral courses evaluation (CAPES), changes in the professors staff and also the influences of the development of the scientific area of Information Science. In the present research, the history of the course was based in the analysis of the official documents of the master course. Attention was paid to the profile of the students as well as of those that had concluded the course. As a consequence, comparisons may be enabled with other graduate courses in Information Science. In the same way, the gathered data may allow the development of policies for this scientific area. Previous issue date: 2008-02-11 / The research has the objective to investigate the cognitive institutionalization of the scientific research in Information Science in Brazil, from the methodological repertoire analysis of the dissertations developed in two post-graduation courses, from 1993 to 2005. The specific objectives are: identify and describe the methodological repertoire used by the dissertations authors and identify the thematic tendencies. It is characterized as an exploratory and descriptive study, supported by tools and techniques of the methods of the analysis of the contents and scienciometric. The empiric corpus is constituted by 255 dissertations, 73 of them are documents from Universidade de S?o Paulo (USP) and 182 of them are from Pontif?cia Universidade Cat?lica de Campinas (PUC-Campinas). The analysis of the graphic representations supported by the theoric conception brought the following results: the dissertations developed in the IS post-graduation courses in PUC-Campinas and USP follow the same tendencies of others research programs of IS in Brazil. The dissertations are characterized by their methodological plurality and they are directed to practice, appliance, or solution of specific and located problems. It can also be observed that there are little reflexion and explanation about the repertoire adopted in these researches. As well there is a lack of understanding about what are the types of researches, methods and techniques. The more commonly used method in theses dissertations is the case study with a pragmatic focus and with a quantitative nature, in place of theoric and conceptual researches that are very important to the cognitive institutionalization of this area. / A pesquisa tem como objetivo investigar a institucionaliza??o cognitiva da pesquisa cient?fica em Ci?ncia da Informa??o no Brasil, a partir da an?lise do repert?rio metodol?gico das disserta??es defendidas em dois Cursos de P?s-Gradua??o, no per?odo de 1993 a 2005. Os objetivos espec?ficos s?o: identificar e descrever o repert?rio metodol?gico utilizado pelos autores das disserta??es e identificar as tend?ncias tem?ticas. Caracteriza-se como um estudo explorat?rio e descritivo, apoiado pelas ferramentas e t?cnicas dos m?todos de an?lise de conte?do e cienciom?trico. Previous issue date: 2017-08-28 / The aim of this study was to demonstrate the aspects that influence the trajectory of graduates of Master and Doctoral degree into lines of research in Finance. As it was a descriptive study, the data source used was the curricular information available in CNPq Lattes Platform, from Professors and students of these programs. In this study, we proposed to give an overview about the profile and scientific publications of the graduates, in order to identify factors that affect the scientific production, the continuity of the academic formation, the choice of research lines, and the professional career in Universities. We also aimed to infer whether the Professors?? academic factors, with Doctoral or PhD degree titles, the acquisition of a scholarship, the authorship of international publications, or the membership in teaching staff/ or researchers of first class Universities, have positive effects on the trajectory of graduated students. We verified a high academic productivity in the applied sample, through the general Lotka index, and the Price??s Elitism Law. It was possible to deduct the existence of a positive relationship of Professors concerning their students in the following aspects: educational background, the student??s professional career in teaching and academic production. / Neste estudo, buscou-se evidenciar os aspectos que influenciam a trajet??ria dos egressos dos programas de mestrados e doutorados, com linhas de pesquisa focadas em finan??as. Por se tratar de um estudo de cunho descritivo, utilizou-se, como fonte de dados, os curr??culos disponibilizados na plataforma Lattes, dos docentes e discentes dos referidos programas. Como prop??sito, elaborou-se um panorama sobre o perfil e as publica????es cient??ficas dos egressos, a fim de identificar fatores que impactam a produ????o cient??fica, a continuidade da forma????o acad??mica e a carreira profissional em Institui????es de Educa????o Superior ??? IES. Objetivou-se inferir, ainda, se fatores acad??micos dos docentes, como Doutorado ou PhD, obten????o de Bolsa Produtividade, autoria de publica????es internacionais, ou integra????o no quadro de docentes/ou pesquisadores de IES de primeira linha, influenciam, de forma positiva, a trajet??ria dos egressos. Verificou-se uma alta produtividade acad??mica na amostra utilizada, tanto pelo ??ndice de Lotka Generalizado, bem como pela Lei do Elitismo de Price. Foi poss??vel deduzir a exist??ncia de uma rela????o positiva dos docentes sobre seus egressos nos seguintes aspectos: Forma????o Acad??mica, trajet??ria profissional do egresso na doc??ncia e produ????o acad??mica.

Pesquisa do Estado da Bahia - FAPEB / This document aims at comprehending the formation process of the national awareness as well as the Brazilian identity in Ana Miranda?s works, focusing on the novel Desmundo (1996). To do so, it is taken into account the relevance of the important post-modern concept of ?presenting of the past? in the literary and contemporary texts and the way this concept introduces issues related to the process of construction of the national identity in the novels of historiographic metafiction. Therefore, based upon a descriptive and analytical bibliographical methodology, it is presented theoretical and methodological discussions raised by scholars of post-modernity, formation of awareness and national identity such as: Hutcheon (1991), Baudrillard (1991; 2001), Jameson (2002; 2006), White (2001), Renan (1997), Anderson (2008), Santos (1997), Guibernau (1997), Bhabha (1997; 1998), Hall (2003), Bauman (2005), and so forth. In the analysis of Miranda?s works it is discussed the formation of the Brazilian nation and the national awareness since its genesis ? the colonial period - , which is, broadly speaking, based on transgression, prejudice and discrimination, in a taken-as ?rigorous? classes structure and power abuse. Furthermore, it is examined the parody presence of the foundational myth, as well as the origin of the nation and the Brazilian identity, emphasizing the importance of the individual acknowledgement. To sum up, it can be noticed that the protagonist of the novel can be taken as a standard of representation of this process of identity acknowledgement. Such process is, at the same time, a plural, multifaceted and decentralized one. / O principal objetivo nesta disserta??o ? a compreens?o do processo de forma??o da consci?ncia nacional e da identidade brasileira na prosa da escritora Ana Miranda, com ?nfase no romance Desmundo (1996). Para tanto, considera-se a relev?ncia do importante conceito p?s-moderno de ?presentifica??o do passado? nos textos liter?rios contempor?neos, e nos modos como esse conceito introduz quest?es relativas ao processo de constru??o da na??o e da identidade nacional nos romances de metafic??o historiogr?fica. Previous issue date: 2014-11-24 / The processes of investigation and production of evidence in cases of suspected sexual abuse are complex, given the frequent absence of eye witnesses and physical and biological signs, as well as the possibility of false allegations. Thus, a set of techniques and tools is required for assessing the child or adolescent with suspected sexual abuse, providing professionals with valid investigative resources for identifying abusive situations as well as their impact on the health of victims. The aim of this study was to assess psychological and behavioral indicators in forensic assessment of children with suspected sexual abuse. The thesis is divided into four studies, two theoretical and two empirical. Theoretical Study 1, entitled Forensic psychological examination in child and adolescent sexual abuse , reviewed the role of forensic psychological assessment in sexual molestation of children and adolescents. Theoretical Study 2, named Post-traumatic reactions in children: How, why and which aspects assess? , discussed the clinical assessment of posttraumatic reactions in children and adolescents exposed to traumatic events, including issues related to symptom manifestation, long-term consequences and availability of assessment instruments. Empirical Study 1 investigated the use of psychological and behavioral indicators in forensic assessment of children with suspected sexual abuse. Empirical Study 2 aimed to identify factors associated with the development of posttraumatic stress symptoms in child and adolescent victims of maltreatment. The set of theoretical and empirical studies indicate that (1) forensic psychological assessment should integrate different sources of information and indicators, for some of the latter may be contradictory or nonspecific; (2) the early assessment of posttraumatic reactions is key for detecting risk factors and indicating different interventions, serving as a source of secondary prevention; (3) assessment of sexual concerns should be included, among other indicators, in forensic procedures for children with suspected sexual abuse; and (4) investigation of posttraumatic cognitions should be included in assessment protocols of posttraumatic symptoms, even for children exposed to recurrent trauma, as is the case in sexual abuse and other situations of maltreatment. Therefore, the findings of this study comprehensively indicate the need for caution when considering the high individual variability in reactions associated with sexual abuse. Although there is no single symptom framework for characterizing victims, it is pertinent to assess physical, emotional and behavioral alterations triggered or aggravated by abusive events, as well as the child report and familiar and social contexts. O objetivo geral deste trabalho foi avaliar indicadores psicol?gicos e comportamentais na per?cia de crian?as com suspeita de abuso sexual. A tese de doutorado est? organizada em quatro estudos, sendo dois te?ricos e dois emp?ricos. O Estudo Te?rico 1 intitulado Per?cia psicol?gica no abuso sexual de crian?as e adolescentes revisou o papel da per?cia psicol?gica no abuso sexual infanto-juvenil. O Estudo Te?rico 2 denominado Rea??es p?s-traum?ticas em crian?as: Como, por que e quais aspectos avaliar? discutiu a avalia??o cl?nica das rea??es p?s-traum?ticas em crian?as e adolescentes expostos a situa??es traum?ticas, incluindo quest?es relacionadas ? manifesta??o dos sintomas, ?s consequ?ncias a longo prazo e aos instrumentos de avalia??o dispon?veis. O Estudo Emp?rico 1 avaliou indicadores psicol?gicos e comportamentais na per?cia de crian?as com suspeita de abuso sexual. O Estudo Emp?rico 2 identificou fatores associados com o desenvolvimento de sintomas de estresse p?s-traum?tico em crian?as e adolescentes v?timas de maus-tratos. O conjunto de estudos te?ricos e emp?ricos aponta para: (1) a avalia??o psicol?gica no contexto forense deve integrar diferentes fontes de informa??o e indicadores, j? que alguns destes s?o contradit?rios e inespec?ficos; (2) a avalia??o precoce das rea??es p?s-traum?ticas ? fundamental para a detec??o de fatores de risco e indica??o de diferentes interven??es, servindo como fonte de preven??o secund?ria; (3) a avalia??o da presen?a de preocupa??es sexuais deve ser inclu?da, entre outros indicadores, nos procedimentos periciais de crian?as com suspeita de abuso sexual; e (4) a investiga??o das cogni??es p?s-traum?ticas deve ser inclu?da nos protocolos de avalia??o de sintomatologia p?s-traum?tica, mesmo em crian?as expostas a traumas recorrentes, como ? o caso do abuso sexual e outras situa??es de maus-tratos. De uma forma global, os achados do presente estudo indicam a necessidade de cautela ao se considerar a elevada variabilidade individual nas rea??es associadas ao abuso sexual. Ainda que n?o haja um quadro sintomatol?gico ?nico que caracterize as v?timas, ? pertinente avaliar as altera??es f?sicas, emocionais e comportamentais desencadeadas ou agravadas pelos epis?dios de abuso, assim como o relato da crian?a e o seu contexto familiar e social. Portanto, o uso de m?ltiplos indicadores e fontes de informa??o pode incrementar a prova pericial, na medida em que adiciona elementos de convic??o para se aceitar ou rejeitar hip?teses, minimizando n?o apenas os casos falso-positivos, mas tamb?m os falso-negativos.

The effects of Person-Supervisor Fit and Person-Workgroup Fit on role performance, job satisfaction and perceived support: The Airline crewChin, Hung-chi 09 June 2010 (has links)
Previous researches about the Person-Environment Fit were mainly based on the points of view of Person-Organization Fit and Person-Job Fit. Researches based on the points of view of Person-Supervisor Fit (P-S Fit) and Person-Workgroup Fit (P-G Fit) was less made. But nowadays, more and more companies adopt team approach for the organization of the main mold of operation. How to establish a harmonious group and enhance group¡¦s and individual performance becomes an important issue. The main purpose of this research is base on Fit Theory to examine Person-Supervisor Fit and Person-Workgroup Fit between crew, their supervisor and their coworker in every flight. In this study, Person-Supervisor Fit and Person-Workgroup Fit were defined as independent variables; role performance, job satisfaction and perceived support were defined as dependent variables. The relationship between independent and dependent variable are deeply discussed.
There are 136 pairs of questionnaires surveyed by employees and their supervisors. Supervisor Leadership Profile (SLP) and Workgroup Characteristics Profile (WCP) were reduced to 16 of 25 statements as Q ranking items, and Q methodology was applied for measuring P-S Fit and P-W Fit. Regression analysis was used to further explore the dependent variable on the independent variable's influence.
The result indicate that¡GFirst, employee with high P-G Fit, has more job satisfaction, the correlation between P-G Fit and job satisfaction is significant; second, employee with high P-S Fit, has more perceived supervisor support, the correlation between P-S Fit and perceived supervisor support is significant; third, employee with high P-G Fit, has more perceived coworker support, the correlation between P-G Fit and perceived coworker support is weak significant. This research further represents the direction of future research and practical meaning of management.

An Assessment Of The Dynamic Properties Of Adapazari Soils By Cyclic Direct Simple Shear TestsHassan Zehtab, Kaveh 01 July 2010 (has links) (PDF)
Among the hard-hit cities during 17 August 1999 Kocaeli Earthquake (Mw 7.4), Adapazari is known for the prominent role of site conditions in damage distribution. Since the strong ground motion during the event was recorded only on a rock site, it is necessary to estimate the response of alluvium basin before any study on the relationship between the damage and the parameters of ground motion. Therefore, a series of site and laboratory tests were done on Adapazari soils in order to decrease the uncertainty in estimation of their dynamic properties. In downtown Adapazari, a 118 m deep borehole was opened in the vicinity of heavily damaged buildings for sample recovery and in-situ testing. The stiffness of the soils in-situ is first investigated by standard penetration tests (SPT) and by velocity measurements with P-S suspension logging technique. Disturbed samples were recovered by core-barrel and split-barrel samplers. 18 Thin-Walled tubes were successively used for recovering undisturbed samples. A series of monotonic and cyclic direct simple shear tests were done on specimens recovered from the Thin-Walled tubes. It is concluded that the secant shear modulus and damping ratio of soils exposed to severe shaking during the 1999 event are significantly smaller than those estimated by using the empirical relationships in literature. It is also observed that the reversed-S shaped hysteresis loops are typical for cyclic response of the samples.
