Vodoznačení statických obrazů / Image watermarkingŠtágl, Luboš January 2009 (has links)
This diploma thesis is concerned in static pictures Security problems. That means, additional informations (watermark) are embedded to the original picture in a specific way. This complex picture structure (watermark) should be unremoval by different attacks runing processes. The main goal of this diploma thesis is realize two separated methods digital data watermarking in MATLAB program. For reason of a quite large scale of different watermarking methods are chosen at this time only two of take were choosen. First of the methods is Watermark injection in the spatial domain and the second in the freuquency domain. Both methods are set up in a special way and finish goals of the process. Expected result are, that digital picture user doesn't know about the watermarking technique was aplied on this picture and the watermarking data are the most resistant as possible as can be. These attacks were simulated in Checkmark program.

CHECK ME : Reducing Waste Trough Salvage CraftsMüllerström, Malin January 2021 (has links)
Textile waste, both pre and post consumer, is a problem that needs a solution, and fast. This work aims to find a simple solution to that problem, to exemplify how a small change in thinking and structures can make a big difference. The proposal is a design system of square construction, with roots in historical fabric conservancy practices and by use of salvage craft techniques. By constructing garments out of squares, waste is eliminated by simple means and existing materials of different qualities can be cut in the same way, thereby rationalized, then assembled into larger materials and so an up cycling process is achieved. The result of this work is a versatile design system which may lead to many different outcomes in the hands of different designers without compromising on desired fit and without the waste generated from cutting conventionally. In the present fashion field solutions such as this system are necessary to encourage the apprehensive designer to take steps towards sustainable practices.

Constructions tropicales de noeuds algébriques dans IRP3 / Tropical constructions of algebraic knots in the 3-dimensional real projective spaceWill, Etienne 20 September 2012 (has links)
In this thesis, we construct real tropical curves in R^3 whose projectivization - which is a projective link in RP^3 - has 2connected components, one of them being isotopic to a given knot. For some torus knots, it is possible to modify thetropical construction such that the corresponding projective link is a knot (with a single component) isotopic to the giventorus knot. For each of these real tropical curve, we use a recent result of G. Mikhalkin, asserting the existence of a realnon singular algebraic curve in RP^3, of the same genus and degree as the real tropical curve, and isotopic to thecorresponding projective link.

Contributions to the economic analysis of even-aged silviculture: From simple models to complex analysesHalbritter, Andreas 19 August 2022 (has links)
In managed forests, the enormous complexity of an ecologic system meets a vast range of economic and other impact factors. Thus, to determine, analyze and understand economically optimal stand management is a task which has kept forest economists occupied for the past 200 years. The approach which has been followed since the days of Martin FAUSTMANN is the analysis of models which describe rather specific management scenarios using a set of clearly defined model assumptions. Unfortunately, the applicability of the findings to more general scenarios is limited. On the other side, the possibility of analyzing general management environments with single models is also limited by increasing complexity. Thus, a holistic understanding of optimal forest management is still missing. This statement also holds for the extensive field of optimal even-aged timber production, which essentially consists of only three main components, i.e., planting, thinning and final harvest. Therefore, this dissertation aims to make a contribution to further increase the general understanding of even-aged forest management.
To achieve this goal three steps were taken. First, a qualitative analysis of a combined management plan including decisions on all three basic components is presented based on HALBRITTER and DEEGEN (2015). It provides a discussion of the direct and indirect dependencies between the decision variables of a rotation in a rather classical management environment.
Second, three studies are presented which dissolve some of the classical model assumptions and extend the existing knowledge on even-aged forestry to relevant but more complex mangement questions. HALBRITTER (2015) includes natural regeneration and a shelter period in an even-aged system and explores the borders between the even- and uneven-aged management. Thereby, the influence of natural regeneration and the impact of several age classes were studied. HALBRITTER (2020) drops the assumption of stand homogeneity and investigates stand management under heterogeneous tree growth in which, for example, different social classes of trees are maintained. Lastly, HALBRITTER et al. (2020) extend the classical deterministic management environment in the direction of density-dependent hazard risk. This adds an additional aspect to the thinning and the
rotation decision because, in this scenario, the probability of stand destruction can be controlled by thinning.
As a third step, the studies above were embedded in a patchwork representing a conglomeration of models which are connected and validated by overlapping scopes. Using this approach, a wide range of different management scenarios can be covered by rather simple models. Thus, the complexity of the analysis decreases compared to single models with a more generally applicable framework and the problem of model complexity is mitigated. In addition, the inclusion of reference models with a particular focus on the management components stand establishment, thinning or rotation allows for a clear identification of the relationship between optimal stand management and the characteristics of a scenario. Applied to the qualitative analysis of the four studies above, the approach yields insights which contribute to a better understanding of even-aged forest management.:1. Introduction

The Patchwork-Quilter as the Storyteller : MY DEAD DOG!Towndrow, Lizzie January 2016 (has links)
Objects can evoke our most vivid memories and sensory emotions, through the stories that have been engraved into them across their lifetime. Throughout history, patchwork-quilting has been used to tell stories, hide messages and hold histories. They are seen as objects of warmth, comfort and security, inanimate extensions of ourselves that store our most complex sentiments and memories- becoming heirlooms that are kept in the families and communities for generations, preserving our histories and material culture. I intend to explore the inseparable relationship between craft and narrative within quilts, whilst re-imagining the quilts forms and functions in order to communicate stories more vividly. To do so I will use my memories of My Dead Dog, Henry, to illustrate narratives and embed them into quilted objects to stage as a tableau of artifacts. I intend to encourage the viewer to realise the imagined, through a haptic experience of my material world, whilst simultaneously creating my own heirlooms that can be passed down so my stories are not forgotten. /
The full thesis contains copyrighted material

which has been removed in the published version

Previous issue date: 2006-12-22 / This is an ethnographic work which proposal is to extract from a
patchwork quilt an articraft item with its utility and peculiar aesthetic the
sociocultural interpretation of a time, of a representative group of a quarter, in the
city of Goiás, National Historic Patrimony. The research was a field work, made by
means of interviews and of narratives according to the methodology of the oral
history, and was anchored to the works of ethnographers, mainly Geertz.
Moreover, it was also based on the anthropo philosophic proposals made by
Câmara Cascudo, looking for the uncommon inside the common. As we may
consider the quilt as a pile of memories, it was possible, by choosing a few among
so many patches, to define different periods, as well as categories such as,
established and outsiders, conciliation and transformation historic urban and nonhistoric
ones. In the second part of the work, the narrative is enriched with oil
paintings on canvas which offer a new reading of some of the patches and their
stories.
Câmara Cascudo, buscando o incomum dentro do comum.

Any therapeutic project implies training people to be able to innovate, invent, and create. This is the origin of the desire for increasing our knowledge regarding the individual’s creative dimension and life power, as well as in terms of ways to create environments that stimulate self-invention and the invention of the world. This interest served as the basis for the analysis of an experience involving a group of craftswomen and an artist. The objective of this study is to present such experience. Based on the concept of Happening created by Gilles Deleuze, and having patchwork as the means, this experience relates ways of working to ways of practicing subjective analysis. This experience is based on the assumption that the way people work with patchwork constitutes a creative aesthetics of opportunities and transformations, producing new ways of being. The topic of attention, according to the concept created by Henry Bergson, is one the essential elements in the process of search for freedom to consider aesthetics and the way we use the environments. From getting familiar with still machines to the transformation of this equipment into subjectivizing devices, this is the process we intended to show, and such a process is summarized in this text.
