The city of Goiás presents itself as a historical patrimony of Humanity and has built its architectural, historical and cultural appearance with the profile of a mining city, with Catholic religious predominance and buildings marked by slavery. The city that was once the capital of the state, grew in an unplanned urbanistic way, the historic center was maintained where monuments and buildings can be traced back to the beginning of the history of the state, however its buildings that have undergone several reforms do not count with restorations / adaptations in favor of accessibility, making it difficult for physically handicapped visitors and residents of the city itself. Many of its residents who have some kind of physical disability had little access to the culture and leisure provided by their museums, churches and other spaces as a result of stones, staircases and non-standard accessibility ramps. The barriers that the historic center generates go beyond the difficulty of access caused by physical barriers due to the difficulty of accessing their spaces, but the generation of attitudinal barriers and diverse constraints that affect them and makes them try to avoid certain routes and not be able to enjoy parties traditional, even religious, among others. With the present research it was possible to note that Goiás 12 is a city that presents a high rate of accessibility and mobility unfeasibility, which ends up compromising not only people with physical disability or reduced mobility, but also the entire population, since investments could intensify tourism and therefore income in the city. We have worked with the idea that capitalism intertwines the most varied areas of human experience, where the commodified body suffers interference from space in the same way that it has become a biopower space and this biopower interferes in spaces. Taking the considerations that urban planning and reorganization measures need to be made and carried out so that the historic center and the city as a whole can receive the entire public in an egalitarian way, accessibility is not understood here as the only way to improve conditions of the lives of people with physical disabilities, but without a doubt it is a beginning towards equity, destroying the walls of prejudice and exclusion, overcoming the invisible barriers between normal sayings and people with any physical disabilities.

Individuální plánování jako nástroj pro zvyšování kvality sociální služby osobní asistence u lidí s těžkým tělesným postižením a seniorů v Praze / Individual planning as a tool of quality increasing social service of personal assistance in people with disability and seniors in Praha

SEDLÁKOVÁ, Kateřina January 2013 (has links)
This diploma thesis is concerned with individual planning with regard to the social service of personal assistance. The theoretical part contains a description of the origin and history of personal assistance in the world and in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part elaborates in detail on the no. 5 standard of quality of services provided and its four criteria. It also provides an overview of existing approaches toward individual planning of the social service of personal assistance for the target group of people with physical disabilities and seniors, including their positives and negatives, which the system of individual planning brings to providers of the social service of personal assistance and its users. The diploma thesis had two goals. The first was to ascertain the value of individual planning for users of the social service of personal assistance. The second was to assess the benefits that individual planning brings to organizations that provide the social service of personal assistance to people with serious physical disabilities and seniors with regard to improving the efficacy of the work of their employees. The practical part is based on qualitative research, with the main method of data collection being semi-structured interviews. The results showed that users do not see a major change in the way personal assistance is provided after the introduction of the individual planning system when compared to the situation before. Users mainly appreciated the fact that assistants are well-prepared even before the provision of assistance starts. This factor was unequivocally praised as a positive and a reason why individual planning should be introduced. In conclusion, the only negative aspect of individual planning for the employees was considered to be a higher administrative load, which, however, they were able to handle in the end, according their responses. On the other hand, both groups considered the greater level of preparedness of the social workers ? personal assistants during their social work a big benefit.

František Bakule ve světle archivních dokumentů / Frantisek Bakule in the light of archival sources

Turjanicová, Alexandra January 2014 (has links)
This dissertation examines the personality of Frantisek Bakule. It is largely based on many manuscripts of his rich estate, and the products of his pupils. The aim of the paper was to map out the unexamined part of the estate in the National Pedagogical Museum and Library of J. A. Comenius. This aim was only partially achieved as the estate is truly enormous. Therefore, the focus was put on the parts concerning Bakule's Little Singers, Childern's Workshop Group and letters from his former students. However, the main benefit of this paper is a complete record of all the products and toys made the children. Such record had not been compiled, not even in museum record keeping files. All the objects were photographed, measured, described and categorized. An important part of this dissertation is also an extensive chapter devoted to the history of caring for the physically disabled not only in the Czech Republic but also in other European countries at the turn of the 19th and 20th century.

A sense of control : a model of a virtual community for people with mobility impairments

Tilley, Christine Margaret January 2006 (has links)
This qualitative study develops a model of a virtual community for people with longterm, severe physical or mobility disabilities. The model also has implications for the wider community of people with disabilities. The study uses the Strauss and Corbin grounded theory methodology to inform the investigation from which a systematic theory has been developed. On the basis of this theory, the study proposes strategies for implementing the virtual community model. In-depth interviews were conducted with twelve Queenslanders with paraplegia, quadriplegia or other severe, long-term physical or mobility disabilities and with six health care professionals, service providers, information personnel and policy advisers involved in their well-being. The methodology used one interview question to determine their experiences and perceptions regarding virtual communities and the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Each interview explored in detail the elements, enablers and barriers behind the usage of ICT and/or assistive technology. The personal responses and narratives of the people with disabilities who use the technology and their allied health care professionals were analysed and interpreted for meaning before the transcripts were returned to these participants for validation. Rich explanations were derived. Details of the various response categories of these interviews were analysed as part of the grounded theory, constant comparison methodology, and the relationship to the literature was considered. These de-constructed meanings were compared and contrasted with those in the current literature. The central theme to emerge from these narratives is that people with long-term disabilities regain a sense of control and independence in their lives through the use of ICT, as they move towards an on-line community. Other major themes that emerged from being on-line indicated that being on-line tended to break down people's isolation, while potentially changing the work paradigm (both vexed issues for people with disabilities). Information and communications technology and on-line communities offer ways to enhance every person's inclusion, participation and empowerment in our society. The primary outcome of the study is a theory regarding the character of virtual communities for people with long-term, severe mobility impairments that stakeholders may consider whenever such a virtual community is proposed. The theory is represented as a virtual community model. The model identifies the need for "a sense of control" as the foundational element of virtual communities for the disabled, and distinguishes the key domains in which disabled people participate in virtual communities. The barriers and enablers to their participation are specified within it. The model also provides a framework within which virtual communities can be facilitated. It melds six types of e-communities or sets of well-developed discrete categories (for example, themes, concepts) that the data from this study revealed: education-oriented, fantasy-oriented, information-oriented, interestoriented, relationship-oriented and transaction-oriented, depending on the type(s) of consumer need(s) to be met. The study concludes that although the technology itself provides strategies for independence and thus facilitates self-empowerment, it is also capable of being disempowering. Many interviewees referred to this aspect as a "double-edged sword". Empowerment and dis-empowerment are intersecting processes because of digital divide and information literacy issues and this "double-edged sword", which virtual reality presents for people with physical disabilities. Based on the new knowledge and the model as the outcomes of this study, a range of recommendations are discussed that have application in the community for persons with mobility impairments.

Bengtsson, Henrik, Johansson, Sara January 2023 (has links)
MaaS (Mobility as a Service) is often described as an emerging and innovative digital concept for handling future mobility and sustainability challenges. However, the concept is a relatively new phenomenon still in its development stage, focusing on convincing users to choose MaaS over private vehicle ownership. In this belief, however, minority groups such as people with physical disabilities have been less prioritized. The literature review highlights the perceived frustrations of people with physical disabilities due to this problematic deprioritization, but these descriptions are deficient. Through a qualitative interview study with eight respondents, an increased and more in-depth understanding of the subjective first-hand experiences of using mobility services by people with physical disabilities has been created, which is also the purpose of this study. From this knowledge from collected empirical data and insights from the literature study, two design implications have been identified and explored: Distribution of digital information and Fair premises.  These design implications are intended to be used both in developing current mobility services with associated digital applications and in future visions of integrating the majority of mobility services in a common digital platform, for example, MaaS. The design implications thus become essential to consider in order to promote a more inclusive society where these types of mobility services and future concepts do not exclude anyone, both in terms of the actual use of the services and their development.
