UMA METODOLOGIA PARA ASSISTIR PACIENTES EM AMBIENTES HOMECARE PERVASIVOS / A METHODOLOGY TO ASSIST PATIENTS IN PERVASIVE HOMECARE ENVIRONMENTS

Freitas, Leandro Oliveira 09 December 2011 (has links)
Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / Every year the queues in hospitals publics and privates grows due to, among others, the increasing of the world population and the delay in the patients service. This is a serious problem faced by administrators of hospitals which believe that it is increasingly difficult to offer services of quality to those who search for them. One of the ways to decrease these queues is through the development of homecare systems that allow the patient to receive the clinic treatment directly in his house. The development of these kind of systems would help to decrease the queues and consequently, would improve the attendance of those who goes to the hospitals looking for assistance. Considering this, this work has as main purpose to present the modelling of an architecture of a pervasive system to be applied in homecare environments. The pervasive systems developed from this modelling aim to improve the services provided by healthcare professionals in the treatment of patients that are located in their houses. The architecture proposed by the methodology uses concepts of pervasive computing to provide access to information anytime and wherever the user is, once that a homecare environment has a high level of dynamicity of the envolved. The knowledge representation of the homecare environment needed in the modelling of the architecture is made through ontologies due to the possibility of reuse of the information stored, as well as the interoperability of information among different computational devices. To validate the proposed methodology, we present two use cases, which are also used to demonstrate the workflow of the pervasive system of homecare.

Mercadal, Julien 10 October 2011 (has links)
The sheer size and complexity of today's software systems posechallenges for both their programming and verification, making itcritical to raise the level of abstraction of software developmentbeyond the code. However, the use of high-level descriptions in thedevelopment process still remains rudimentary, improving and guidingthis process marginally. This thesis proposes a new approach to making software developmentsimpler and safer. This approach is based on the use ofdomain-specific languages and a tight coupling between a specificationand architecture layer, and an implementation layer. It consists ofdescribing functional and non-functional aspects of a software systemat a high level of abstraction, using the specification andarchitecture layer. These high-level descriptions are then analyzedand used to customize the implementation layer, greatly facilitatingthe programming and verification of the software system. We have validated our approach in the domain of pervasive computingsystems development. From a complete domain analysis, we haveintroduced two domain-specific languages, Pantaxou and Pantagruel, dedicated to the orchestration of networked smart devices.

Pervasive Quantied-Self using Multiple Sensors

January 2019 (has links)
abstract: The advent of commercial inexpensive sensors and the advances in information and communication technology (ICT) have brought forth the era of pervasive Quantified-Self. Automatic diet monitoring is one of the most important aspects for Quantified-Self because it is vital for ensuring the well-being of patients suffering from chronic diseases as well as for providing a low cost means for maintaining the health for everyone else. Automatic dietary monitoring consists of: a) Determining the type and amount of food intake, and b) Monitoring eating behavior, i.e., time, frequency, and speed of eating. Although there are some existing techniques towards these ends, they suffer from issues of low accuracy and low adherence. To overcome these issues, multiple sensors were utilized because the availability of affordable sensors that can capture the different aspect information has the potential for increasing the available knowledge for Quantified-Self. For a), I envision an intelligent dietary monitoring system that automatically identifies food items by using the knowledge obtained from visible spectrum camera and infrared spectrum camera. This system is able to outperform the state-of-the-art systems for cooked food recognition by 25% while also minimizing user intervention. For b), I propose a novel methodology, IDEA that performs accurate eating action identification within eating episodes with an average F1-score of 0.92. This is an improvement of 0.11 for precision and 0.15 for recall for the worst-case users as compared to the state-of-the-art. IDEA uses only a single wrist-band which includes four sensors and provides feedback on eating speed every 2 minutes without obtaining any manual input from the user. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Computer Engineering 2019

Mise en oeuvre des approches de clusterisation dans les réseaux de communication sans fil / Implementation of the clustering approaches in wireless communication networks

Maghmoumi, Chadi 22 December 2010 (has links)
The proposed clustering approache divides the network into clusters based on affinity relationships between nodes and two types of keys which are generated by a clusterhead. The first one is shared by a clusterhead and its local members and the second one is shared by the clusterhead and its parent cluster. The proposed algorithm is adaptive according to the limitation of the mobile nodes battery power and to the dynamic network topology changes. The performance evaluation and communication overhead analysis of the proposed algorithm are presented using simulation.

In this scenario, the applications are widely distributed, mobile and hosted on inherently open and dynamic environments. Moreover, the systems must have mechanisms that enhance the cooperation among users as well as among applications. These features strengthen the challenges related to the execution infrastructure for distributed systems and add new aspects that need to be considered. Existing coordination models employed in distributed systems are limited considering the demands of modern computing environments, specially regarding scalability, mobility and disconnection. This work presents the EXEHDA-TS, which is a distributed mechanism for coordinating applications in the Pervasive Computing with dynamic control of scalability and communication costs. The proposed software architecture allows a proactive coordination and information exchange among components of distributed applications, promoting scalability in a mobile environment. The EXEHDA-TS was modeled as a service and implemented as a prototype running on the pervasive environment managed by the middleware EXEHDA. / A procedure for modelling the control system in intelligent buildings based on colored Petri nets.

Igei Kaneshiro, Percy Javier 22 August 2011 (has links)
Technological advances in recent decades have motivated the development of intelligent buildings, aimed at creating environments more productive for the occupants, economically advantageous for the owners and environmentally correct. New ways of interaction between users and the buildings systems are emerging from these kinds of systems, which are not adequately treated by conventional modeling techniques. In this sense, it is necessary the study of new approaches which address these new functionalities. Thus, this work presents a proposal for a systematic approach to model and simulate the control system of the intelligent buildings. The control system is considered to be a discrete event system, where the communication between the devices that integrate it is oriented by means of asynchronous messages exchange. This approach uses the colored Petri nets in order to specify the functionalities of the building system and their devices interactions. The approach provides a structured procedure to develop models that facilitate the algorithm specification of the control system. In order to verify the main characteristics of the proposed procedure, it is presented an example that is a control system that integrates a distributed telephony system and a surveillance building system. The approach proposed enabled the identification of the main functionalities and interactions of the intelligent devices constituting the control system. The achievement of this thesis contributes to the development of new approaches to develop heterarchical control system architectures. This kind of system architectures is constituted by collaborative intelligent devices that have a high degree of autonomy.

Over the last few years, we have observed the growing evolution of portable devices, such as new technologies for wireless communication. This technological advance makes possible the emergence of an ideal scenery for developing environments supporting the creation of pervasive applications. However, such a highly dynamic environment demands the use of more powerful abstractions than those available today. Holoparadigm proposes a new form of abstraction, created aiming distributed applications running on mobile environments. In the present dissertation, we propose an architecture for Holoparadigmdesigned to support pervasive applications. This proposal extends the functionalities of HoloVM and defines new services to respond to the demand of pervasive computing. Among those services, one is defined as essential to the architecture, the support for distribution, which is composed by a name server and a layer for supporting distributed and transparent execution of programs. For the name server, a scalable and fault tolerant distribution strategy is defined, following the principles of pervasive computing. Furthermore, we show the results of experiments performed using this support.
