Asselin-Léger, Philippe 07 1900 (has links)
This paper aims to understand the place that the climate change took in the 2019 federal election, considered by many to have determined voters' attitudes to climate change. It analyzes the relationship between electoral behavior and climate ramifications, embodied in the carbon tax and oil pipeline issues that split the political class and served as an explanation for the victory of Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party of Canada. Some political commentators from West to East argued that for the first time in Canadian history, a Canadian election was the scene of a referendum on climate change. Others announced that the big winner of the election was notJustin Trudeau's outgoing government, nor the defeated Conservative formation led by Andrew Scheer, but the carbon tax adopted by the federal government in the 2017 Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change.

Bräddning av avloppsvatten : Möjlighet till rening för att skydda recipienten / Sewage overflow systems : Possibility of improving quality to protect recipient

Dahlqvist, Marcus, Lind, Hampus January 2023 (has links)
The report focuses on various purification techniques that can be used to treat wastewater discharged during overflow events before it reaches the receiving water body. The report begins by describing what overflow events are and the potential issues that can arise when untreated water is discharged, including possible contaminants. Several potential purification techniques are highlighted and analyzed, intending to be utilized in a multicriteria analysis with criteria such as environmental impact, efficiency, and capacity. Different weightings are employed to determine the performance of the various purification techniques based on different focal points.

[pt] COMPARANDO ULTRASSOM E SHEAROGRAFIA COMO FERRAMENTAS PARA MONITORAR E PREVER A PROPAGAÇÃO A LONGO PRAZO DE DANOS EM REPAROS COMPÓSITOS EM TUBOS / [en] COMPARING ULTRASOUND AND SHEAROGRAPHY INSPECTIONS AS METHODS TO MONITOR AND PREDICT LONG-TERM DAMAGE PROPAGATION OF COMPOSITE PIPELINE REPAIRS

BRUNO JORDAO LOPES 30 October 2023 (has links)
[en] Pipeline integrity is one of the key aspects for safe and efficient operation of offshore structures. Pipeline failures can result in significant economic and environmental consequences, making pipeline integrity management a top priority for the industry. One of the most effective tools for managing in-service pipelines is non-destructive testing (NDT). In this study, ultrasound and shearography inspections were performed on composite pipeline repairs over the course of approximately two years and their results were compared. The test samples evaluated were steel pipes with composite repairs and were submitted to just over 13,500 hours of salt-spray accelerated ageing, under three different temperatures. Test samples were removed from the salt-spray chambers at regular intervals and inspected by using field inspection apparatus. The results showed that both techniques provided consistent results between each inspection, although not always being consistent with each other. Maps comparing detections and accuracy of each technique were provided. The feasibility of each technique as a field tool for monitoring pipeline integrity was also evaluated with positive results. Furthermore, a modified Arrhenius methodology was proposed as a first step towards predicting long-term damage propagation.

Fine-tuning a BERT-based NER Model for Positive Energy Districts

Ortega, Karen, Sun, Fei January 2023 (has links)
This research presents an innovative approach to extracting information from Positive Energy Districts (PEDs), urban areas generating surplus energy. PEDs are integral to the European Commission's SET Plan, tackling housing challenges arising from population growth. The study refines BERT to categorize PED-related entities, producing a cutting-edge NER model and an integrated pipeline of diverse NER tools and data sources. The model achieves an accuracy of 0.81 and an F1 Score of 0.55 with notably high confidence scores through pipeline evaluations, confirming its practical applicability. While the F1 score falls short of expectations, this pioneering exploration in PED information extraction sets the stage for future refinements and studies, promising enhanced methodologies and impactful outcomes in this dynamic field. This research advances NER processes for Positive Energy Districts, supporting their development and implementation.
