Design of an Assembly System at AERCRETE INDUSTRIESHansson Tengberg, Henrik, Adlerborn, Andreas January 2009 (has links)
The forming of an assembly system is a complex task, which should be considered as never ending. In order to successfully plan and implement an assembly system it is of vital importance that the obstacles and preconditions that have an impact on the system are identified and evaluated. This together with the necessary support activities and the attributes of the product to be assembled constitutes the starting point for the forming of the assembly system. The aim of this thesis is to link the theoretical findings with the issues stated above, and through this explain a best practice approach when forming the assembly system. The theoretical work aims at describing the nature and activities within assembly and manufacturing systems and explains these in three different levels of strategies divided into Manufacturing strategies, Layout, material flow and design strategies and finally Logistic, material handling and quality strategies. Then the obstacles and preconditions found are discussed and evaluated which set the basis for the forming of the assembly system and by linking these with the relevant theory, conceptual design proposals for the assembly system and the Logistic support system are formed. These are then evaluated and finally a proposal for the detailed layout of the assembly system is given. This proposal is then to be used as a guideline for the company Aercrete when forming their assembly system.

Previous issue date: 2005-03 / Fundação Oswaldo Cruz. Instituto de Tecnologia em Imunobiológicos. Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brasil / Fundação Oswaldo Cruz. Instituto Oswaldo Cruz.
quadro epidemiológico do país”. Neste contexto, vem seguindo as tendências
This dissertation describes the model adopted by Bio-Manguinhos in the
incorporation of a brand-new technology (immunochromatography and lateral flow)
for the production of reagents for diagnosis. This technology is strategic and
extremely valuable for the country, as it allows for the production of a low-cost
diagnostic kit (Rapid Test HIV-1/2 – Bio-Manguinhos) that will, in turn, promote the dissemination of more extensive public health measures in the prevention and control of STD/Aids, including the socialization of HIV diagnosis in Brazil. Also, the
substitution of large bulks of imported tests by their nationally produced equivalent will result in great, monetary savings by the Brazilian Ministry of Health and that the technological platform applied in such tests can also be used in the development of rapid tests designed for the diagnosis of other endemic diseases that afflict the Brazilian population. Finally, due to the positive repercussions it may have on other production sectors, this initiative will ameliorateand strengthen the area of Reagents for Diagnosis in Bio-Manguinhos. All of these arguments, represented strong incentives for the establishment of the partnership, being essential for the implementation of the technology transfer process.
Bio-Manguinhos undertook the necessary negotiationswith MoH, especially
with the National Program for STD/Aids, offering a share of the Brazilian public
market for a period of three years in exchange for the technology to be transferred by the American company that detains it, thus avoidingany extra use of public funds by the Brazilian government.
Aids is still one of the biggest public health problems in the world today,
presenting impacting figures: approximately 40 million people are infected with HIV
worldwide, with 5 million new cases diagnosed per year and 3.5 million deaths being reported in 2004. Despite Brazil´s policy for universal Aids treatment and assistance coverage – which is considered an example for the rest of the world – the country, with its estimated 600,000 HIV positive citizens, still deals with an epidemic that continues to spread at alarming rates.
Certainly, much is yet expected to result from today´s scientific and
technological revolution. Within this context, Bio-Manguinhos, whose mission is to
“contribute to the improvement of the Brazilian public health standards through
technological research and development and the production of immunobiologicals
necessary for the fulfillment of the demands generated by the country´s
epidemiological status”, has been investing heavily in R&D projects as well as in the
acquisition and incorporation of new technologies for the large scale manufacture of products that will feed MoH´s national public health programs. One of the new
tendencies in the field of reagents for laboratorial diagnosis is geared toward guiding a better therapeutic approach and calls for a more precise, differential and early disease diagnosis. The time required to obtain results also tends to be shorter and the tests, designed in much simpler formats, can beperformed faster, without need for extensive professional expertise or fully – equipped facilities.

Previous issue date: 2014-02-24 / Innovation generates business competitiveness and business opportunities. The corporate sector can generate innovative products and processes based on technological progress in the company, developed in academia, or developed in partnership. But as the business sector can meet the technological advances that arise in the gym? What are the relevant details? What sources of information can be found? The sources of information currently available contains relevant and sufficient information? The context of this research is the monitoring of technological advances from academia to facilitate the transfer of such advances to the business sector. Among the objectives proposed for the research are: to identify sources of information publicly available descriptions of the technological advances of the academy, and investigate these sources of information through experimental research involving extraction and analysis of data in a universe of limited research. For the experimental investigation were chosen as sources of information and the Lattes Platform Innovation Agency UFSCAR site. The research universe was defined set of technological advances produced by professors from San Carlos UFSCar campus. The interval between the years 2007 and 2012 was defined as the period of investigation. Results indicate that 907 teachers UFSCar São Carlos campus reported in Lattes 192 technological advances produced between 2007 and 2012, 89 software without registration, 58 patents, 28 technology products, 13 processes and techniques, Industrial 2 drawings 1 software with registration and 1 mark. These data were grouped by department, by district and by year of production, generating statistics. The results of analysis of descriptive information extracted from Lattes showed problems in the reliability of the data: errors, duplicity, vagueness and lack of standardization in the filling. The website of the Agency for Innovation UFSCar reported numerically, 98 patents, 12 computer programs, 12 licenses of technology, 17 international patents, trademark registrations 4, 5 and 17 cultivars protected utility models between 2008 and 2012. Fifty-three of these advances - 49 patents and 4 cultivars - were described on the website of reliable, accurate and inviting manner using textual and audiovisual resources, enabling the identification and contact with researchers. Comparing the information provided in the Lattes Platform and the Innovation Agency site, we identified in the Innovation Agency site descriptions are more reliable and effective, however cover a limited number of technological advances, restricted to patents and cultivars indicators. On Lattes descriptions of advances reported in other indicators (such as software, processes and industrial designs) can be found, but more superficial descriptions and in some cases inaccurate. This work contributes to a better understanding of how the technological advances of the academy are being monitored, it also helps to aim the Lattes Platform and the websites of Technological Innovation Centers as sources of information that can be integrated in order to enhance monitoring technological advances of the academy and encourage technology transfer to the business sector.
