The emotional effects of disruptionAdcock, Christina Annie Lee 15 November 2004 (has links)
Disruption is something that we must negotiate as part of our everyday lives. The context of disruption can vary in nature from being positive to being negative in nature. However, the emotional effects of the disruption have not been investigated in the social psychological literature. This study utilizes structuralized ritualization affect theory of social exchange, attribution theory, and the theory of relational cohesion in order to investigate the effects of disruption on the overall positive emotion of the actors involved and their feelings of cohesiveness with regard to their group.

The report is about setting up an Implementation plan for a structured maintenance work on Valmet ABs foundry in Karlstad. This work is the final part for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and takes place at Karlstad University in the spring of 2014. Valmet has recently bought the foundry at Lamberget in Karlstad. The maintenance work is much neglected and in the current state there is no good structure. The maintenance work is in need of systemization and integration into Valmets other maintenance organization. The purpose of the project is to develop a plan Implementation plan for a structured maintenance work on Valmet ABs foundry in Karlstad. The project is divided into three phases. - Situational analysis through both interviews of maintenance personnel and identifying the current equipment - Create a vision of how they want to work with maintenance through benchmarking against other similar businesses, and literature studies - Establishment of a plan for how to get there. What activities to be performed and in what order The work is based on the methodology TPM (total productive maintenance). However it is not about an implementation of TPM, but limited to certain parts. From interviews with the maintenance staff at the foundry, observational studies and an identification study of the machinery, a situational analysis has been made. This situation analysis has shown the problems and challenges that exist in the maintenance department at the foundry. A vision of how they want to work with maintenance on the foundry has been drawn, based on study visits and interviews with management staff. It is most vital that emerged in this phase is the importance of management commitment to implement a process of change. A good communication both between the different departments and within the group is also vital. Using the two phases above, together with the theory processed during the project, a plan has been established for a more structured maintenance. The plan includes 12 stages that addresses the activities that should be implemented, and in what order, in order to get a better structure on maintenance work at the foundry at Valmet. The two single most important elements of the plan are, in my mind, to hire a person who is responsible for the daily operations of the maintenance work. As well as to implement the maintenance system AM-underhåll, so you can get a better structure to the maintenance work in the form of work orders, metrics and history.

Moving towards food sovereignty: creating a connected, fair and sustainable food system in Winnipeg through productive urban landscapesQuesada, Evelyn 21 January 2014 (has links)
The intention behind this work was to re-imagine the possibilities for productive landscapes within our city. The purpose of this practicum is to design opportunities
for people to become more self-sufficient, self-sustaining and less-dependant on the current food system through productive urban landscapes. This practicum proposes that we design a strong network of city wide productive landscapes in order to provide people with the space to grow, trade, buy or sell good quality food at a fair and just price. Through a set of strategies derived from research, observation and experience, we can design a new way of looking at landscapes within our city in order to create a connected, resilient, fair and sustainable food system within Winnipeg.

Relationships between Changes in Coping Strategies and Community Integration Status at 6 and 12 Months after Traumatic Brain InjuryLi, Erxun 20 November 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this prospective cohort study was to determine the relationships between changes in coping strategies and community integration at 6 and 12 months post traumatic brain injury (TBI). Seventy-one participants were adult significant others (SOs) (family members/friends) of people with TBI. SOs, proxies for TBI patients, completed coping and community integration questionnaire to describe TBI patients’pre-injury status immediately post-injury as baseline information. Followed-up interviewed were completed at 6 and 12 months. Results showed that increased emotional preoccupation coping from baseline to 6 months were significantly associated with decreased productive activities and decreased social integration at 6 months and 12 months and modestly associated with decreased home integration at 12 months. Multivariable regressions showed that changes in emotional preoccupation coping from baseline to 6 months contributed significantly to social integration and productive activities above and beyond demographic factors and injury severity. Implications for cognitive rehabilitation are discussed.

The aim of this study is to critically analyse the productive chain of fine wines in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, as well as design, describe and identify his main strengths and weaknesses and the interrelationship between them. In order to achieve this aim, the dissertation has beem divided in two stages. First, an exploratory study took place, with owners and executives ofthe sector. This stage subsidised the descriptive research which sought to describe the productive chain ofthe "gaúcho" fine wines. The principal results point at the lack of integration between the productive links, which in tum, has negative results for its competitivity. Based on this avidence a number of improvements have been suggested.

Salvador
