Automatisation of programming of a PLC code : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements of the degree of Masters of Engineering in Mechatronics

Mastilovich, Nikola January 2010 (has links)
Appendix D, CD content can be found with print thesis held at Turitea library, Palmerston North. Content: Empty APCG program Empty RSLogix5000 l5k file Empty RSLogix5000 ACD file Real Life project - APCG program (only partial) Real Life project - RSLogix5000 l5k file (only partial) Real Life project - RSLogix5000 ACD file (only partial) / A competitive edge is one of the requirements of a successful business. Tools, which increase an engineer s productivity and minimize cost, can be considered as a competitive edge. The objective of this thesis was to design, create, and implement Automatic PLC Code Generator (APCG) software. A secondary objective was to demonstrate that the use of the APCG software will lead to improved project efficiency and enhanced profit margin. To create the APCG software, the MS Excel and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programs were used as the platform. MS Excel sheets were used as a user interface, while VBA creates the PLC code from the information entered by the engineer. The PLC code, created by the APCG software, follows the PLC structure of the Realcold Milmech Pty. Ltd, as well as the research Automatic generation of PLC code beyond the nominal sequence written by Guttel et al [1]. The APCG software was used to design and create a PLC code for one of the projects undertaken by Realcold Milmech Pty. Ltd. By using APCG software, time to design, create, and test the PLC code was improved when compared to the budgeted time. In addition, the project's profit margin was increased. Based on the results of this thesis it is expected that the APCG software will be useful for programmers that tend to handle a variety of projects on a regular basis, where programming in a modular way is not appropriate.

Scrum-processens påverkan på den inre projekteffektiviteten : En fallstudie av ett nationellt distribuerat Scrumteam / The Scrum process impact on the internal project efficiency : The case study of a nationally distributed Scrum team

Hodzic, Almir January 2017 (has links)

Features of solar energy development in Russia

О., Shiryaeva, Yu. O. January 2020 (has links)
Among all existing types of renewable energy, solar energy is the fastest growing and most promising sector. Despite the relatively small share of solar energy in the world, this industry is characterized by a fairly high growth rate. The main prerequisites for the accelerated growth of solar energy include government support measures, as well as a significant reduction in the cost of production of solar power plant components due to technological development and economies of scale. The aim of this work is to identify the features of the development of solar energy in Russia by conducting a comprehensive assessment of this sector. The practical results obtained in the course of this work can be used by energy companies to evaluate scenarios for the implementation of solar power projects, including without taking into account the state support measures for this sector.

Nordgren, Gustav, Rasmussen, Fredrik January 2013 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to identify the factors that drive efficiency and effectiveness in technical development projects performed at ÅF’s department of product development. In addition to identifying and analyzing these factors, the thesis also analyzes what needs to be taken in to account in order to implement a measurement system that is able to both monitor and control the identified factors. The thesis has been performed in a qualitative manner. It is based on interviews with people from several different technological companies, within different lines of business, all of which are customers to ÅF’s department of product development. The results show that there are seven critical factors for project efficiency and effectiveness. These consist of: Communication, Project scope, Top management support, Technical competence, Availability of technical equipment, Processes and methodologies and, lastly, Motivation. In order to measure these factors, a KPI based measurement system has been analyzed and recommended. To be able to establish a measurement system for specific development projects, the measurement system needs to be able to take a great number of things into consideration. The selected KPIs need to reflect and represent critical factors for efficiency and effectiveness, but also at the same time be adapted to different aspects such as the project’s resources, activities and deliverables. Lastly, the thesis discusses the use of a KPI library in addition to a set of criteria for choosing appropriate KPIs, and exemplifies how to present the chosen KPIs.

Key Performance Indicators' Effects on Public Sector Infrastructure Project Efficiency in Grenada

George, Kelvin Michael 01 January 2019 (has links)
Grenada is 1 of 15 developing countries in Caribbean Community known as CARICOM. The infrastructure capital projects in these developing countries are plagued with an array of issues: unethical practices, inadequate supervision, lack of transparency and accountability, inadequate monitoring and evaluation, cost overruns, and inefficiencies. In the 1980s and 1990s, the International Monitory Fund and World Bank introduced a balanced scorecard engineered under the structural adjustment program, but it was unable to improve infrastructure project efficiencies. This qualitative case study sought to understand the role of management key performance indicators (KPIs) on public sector infrastructure capital project efficiency on the island of Grenada. An institutional assessment and development framework and a classical management theoretical framework methodology were used to explore the effects of management KPIs on public sector infrastructure capital projects efficiencies in developing countries. The research incorporated a constructivist philosophy that underpins the evaluation and perception of the government, the National Water and Sewerage Authority (NAWASA), project teams, systems, and stakeholders. A purposive sampling strategy with elements of snowballing was used to obtain 12 representative participants for interviews, and a systematic approach of transcribing, coding, and thematic analysis was done. Findings indicate inadequacies in the BSC performance measure system on infrastructure projects, which justifies the use of comprehensive management KPIs. Positive social change implications of this study include recommendations for comprehensive management KPIs and policies to improve public sector infrastructure project efficiency in Grenada.
