A otimização do processo melhora o diálogo entre as equipes envolvidas no projeto como arquitetos e consultores acústicos / Abstract: The influence of architectural design in acoustics of concert halls is the object of study in this research. This work seeks to understand the physical characteristics of the room, its relevance and the relationship of dependence between these characteristics on the influence of acoustic quality. Through case studies was made an analysis of dependence among the factors that characterized the room using the methodology proposed by Christopher Alexander in his book Notes on the synthesis of form. This methodology presents some principles that guide and organize the development of complex projects. The application of this methodology was used to design a context, which are the functional requirements of each case study, and how the form (result of process design) responds to that context. The study of relationships between functional requirements and the form of the room helped to identify key elements in architectural design and prioritize the features of the room, to discover the influence of design decisions as the room acoustics. The results of this methodology for the acoustics of concert halls provided an optimization of the design process, making it more transparent and less dependent on trial and error, contributing to the design of a room, as well as reforms in acoustic settings. The optimization process improves the dialogue between the teams involved in the project as architects and acoustics consultants / Mestrado / Arquitetura e Construção / Mestre em Engenharia Civil

En fallstudie om framgångsfaktorer för projekt

Wallin, Linnéa January 2016 (has links)
The case study is done at a larger company which has been working with project as a work form through many years, facing issues with keeping within time limits and over limited costs. The study is fo-cused upon the first phases of the project, because that is where impact can be made on the time- and resource- limits and therefore has an impact on the outcome of the project. The purpose of the study is to investigate how a project organisation could work in the early phases of a project, for the projects to be able to stay within the time frame and to keep costs down. A qualitative method was chosen to get a deeper understanding of the current situation of the case company's situation. Secondary data was brought together by scientific papers and litera-ture within the fields of the current project case. The empirical material was brought together through semi-structured interviews with 12 different people who all had different working fields within the project. Thereafter the empirical material was processed and created the re-sult of the study. Analyse and discussion of the study was created by putting the result to-wards the theory. The study shows that it is important to focus on the work in the early phases of a project for the success of the projects as a whole. The study provides a systematic review of the problems that can occur in the early phases of a project and propose solutions to these problems.

Concepções de conhecimento e currículo em W. Kilpatrick e implicações do método de projetos / Conceptions of knowledge and curriculum on W. Kilpatrick and implications of the project method

Bin, Ana Clara 26 November 2012 (has links)
This dissertation, confined to the area of Didactics, theories of teaching and school practices has, as its object of study, the pedagogical production of Professor William Heard Kilpatrick (1871-1965), a subject little explored in the field of research in education. Disciple of John Dewey, but with its own singular reflection, the author has an important contribution regarding to the recognition of the need for philosophical reasoning and reflection to emphasize the effects and political possibilities of education. The analysis of the conceptions of Kilpatrick and his performance in the progressive education movement of the early twentieth century also showed that his ideas remain pertinent and relevant to the discussions that have occurred in recent years, which is observed in an effort to understand the social changes, the democratic purposes of schooling, as well as the need to link these purposes with concrete pedagogical actions. Thus, the option to review the work of this author is justified by its historical relevance, the lack of research devoted to the topic and, to the extent that is possible, to find at the forefront of current teaching references to many of his ideas, as well of important readings and applications of the project method. The study aims to contextualize the pedagogical work of Kilpatrick in light of his broader conceptions, focusing on the ideas of curriculum and learning and describing the project method proposed by him; also investigates the approximations and the distances between the project method of Kilpatrick and the appropriation made by Fernando Hernández, present in his method of work projects, within a perspective of seeking contemporary approach towards the project method. It was configured as a relevant method to this research, the analytical readings of selected bibliography: Kilpatricks specific works, which covers his educational concepts, part of the academic references about the author\'s work and his theoretical frameworks and works on the project method that composes the object of analysis. The results of the research indicates that, understanding the use of projects in the contemporary school, requires a dialogue with the prospect of Kilpatricks proposal in accordance with the idea of building and consolidating the democratic society and that his work is a relevant material for educational research.

An investigation of the teaching practices of music teaching artists participating in four selected elementary school arts integration projects

Unknown Date (has links)
This mixed methodology study investigated the arts integration practices of music teaching artists participating in four selected elementary school arts integration projects in the United States. This study also explored the possibility that music teaching artists’ formal education, arts integration training and professional development, and their own attitudes as well as different stakeholders’ attitudes about arts integration and music education impacted their arts integration practices. The explanatory two-phase design of this study began with the collection and analysis of quantitative data and was followed by the collection and analysis of qualitative data, thus connecting the results from the former to those from the latter. The quantitative data provided information for purposefully selecting the interview participants who provided the qualitative data collection in phase two. The data gathered in this study indicate that the music teaching artists shared similar beliefs about arts integration but that they believed their school leaders’ goals and objectives differed from their own. The data also provided evidence for concluding that the music teaching artists believe that the most successful arts integration projects are those that are collaborative partnerships between an arts specialist or classroom teacher and a teaching artist. A unexpected finding in this study was the teaching and exploration of sound in arts integration projects team taught between a sound teaching artist,–some without musical backgrounds or formal training–a music teaching artist, and a classroom teacher. The statistical analysis in this study regarding the degree to which formal education, arts integration professional development and training, music teaching artists’ attitudes about arts integration, and the beliefs held by music teaching artists regarding school leaders’ and their arts organization’s administrators’ attitudes about arts integration were predictors of the arts integration practices as self-reported by music teaching artists produced results that were non-significant. The content analysis of curriculum documents and student products submitted by the study participants revealed information to support the findings from the interview and survey data / Includes bibliography. / Dissertation (Ph.D.)--Florida Atlantic University, 2014. / FAU Electronic Theses and Dissertations Collection

Johansson, Elin, Gräns Engblom, Stephanie January 2015 (has links)
In today’s changing environment, creation of projects by organizations has become more common. The problem is, though, that the knowledge of the subject is still limited which causes many projects to fail. This has made it extra important to have a good project manager whocanlead the project in the right direction. While doing this both the project method and the project manager’s motivation are contributing sources. That is why this studywill take a deeper look into the project methodand the motivation of the project manager and also the relationship between these two. To do this, this study is based on a theory of motivation, the Vroom’s expectancy theory. The purpose with this study is to create a greater understanding for the project methodand how it is affected by the motivation. This is a qualitative study in which interviews with four project managers has been done. The results showed that there is a connection both between the different variables in the Expectancy theory, but also connected to how these are affecting the project method.

Project-based instruction in a Canadian secondary school's ESL classes : goals and evaluations

Beckett, Gulbahar Huxur 11 1900 (has links)
Research on project-based instruction is common in mainstream education. It conceives the activity broadly, but omits language. It is rare in English as a Second Language (ESL) education, and Second Language Acquisition (SLA) theory conceives it narrowly, omitting a functional view of language. The present study examines the implementation of project-based instruction in ESL classes in a Canadian secondary school through interviews with Canadian ESL teachers and Chinese ESL students, observations of two projects in action, and examination of students' written work, and school, school board and Ministry of Education documents. Results indicate that the teachers held and implemented a broad, integrated conception of project-based instruction that includes a functional view of language. They have many more goals than those stressed for project-based instruction in the SLA literature, and have goals that are not included even in the mainstream literature. The teachers evaluated project-based instruction positively, and the researcher's observations support the teachers' evaluations. However, despite teacher's and students' successes, a number of students evaluated project-based instruction negatively. This discrepancy is discussed using three explanatory models (philosophical, cultural, and linguistic) that the participants may have been using when interpreting project-based instruction. The study points to the need to develop a rationale which adequately addresses project-based instruction as a functional language learning activity in the context of academic subject matter learning. It identifies problems of cross-cultural interpretation of and communication about projects, and notes difficulties of resolving them. It points out the necessity for an examination of the processes of project-based instruction, noting places of difficulty and success, and considering promising strategies.
