The study aims to examine the implementation of the Swedish discrimination law on a regional level when it comes to transgender people’s right to a non-discriminatory health care. The study examens two health care institutions in Region Östergötland, Linköpings university hospital and health center Ödeshög. Interviews are being held in order to examine how the discrimination law is being implemented on a regional level, focusing on transgender people. Following questions are examined within the two different health care institutions. Is there knowledge and education on a regional level when it comes to transgender's right to nondiscriminatory health care? Are there any resources available on a regional level in order to maintain transgender's right to non-discriminatory health care? Lastly, does the health care institutions have interests, commitments and professional ethics when it comes to maintaining transgender’s rights to a non-discriminatory health care? It is possible to find friction when it comes to implementing the discrimination law at Linköping university hospital and health center Ödeshög. The absence of productive educations in LGBTQ and the lack of time are factors that are hindering the discrimination law to be fully implemented. Furthermore the lack of education in LGBTQ may lead to a lack of interests when it comes to maintaining transgender’s rights to a non-discriminatory health care.

This thesis considers conditions for collaboration between two actors during the extensive fire-fighting effort in the Gävleborg region (Sweden) in summer 2018. The main purpose of the study is to explore how Länsstyrelsen and Försvarsmakten respectively identify the conditions for collaboration, and to what extent this image responds to a defined ideal type of collaboration. Material is collected through interviews with professionals from Länsstyrelsen Gävleborg and Försvarsmakten, and the responses are analysed through selected parts of the theoretical framework presented in the model An Integrative Framework for Collaborative Governance, which as a sub-purpose of this thesis is applied, as well as evaluated in relation to, a case study of crisis management. The results of the study indicate that the conditions for successful collaboration between Länsstyrelsen and Försvarsmakten are perceived as mainly positive: The desire to collaborate and cooperate is by both actors expressed as high, trust between the actors is mutually defined as strong, and respective actor identifies and recognises the other’s contribution of valuable resources to the collected effort. However, the analysis also shows that there is room for improvement within the working processes in samverkansstaben, as well as within the actors’ communication. The evaluation of the application of the theoretical framework indicates conceivable difficulties in distinguishing between the model’s terms and elements, as well as their varying potential operationalization, yet it confirms that the theoretical framework is to a high degree applicable to this case study of crisis management.

This essay deals with the Chinese mega-project Belt and Road Initiative and investigates whether itis possible that it could have a positive impact on regional peace. Previous research, as well as thetwo major IR-theories realism and liberalism, have assumed the project will lead to more tensionand even increase the likelihood of war in the future. According to the constructivist securitycommunity theory this does not have to be the case. By applying Adler and Barnett's rendition ofDeutsch classical theory to the case of BRI through a literary analysis the possibility of a peacefuloutcome is investigated. The analysis concludes that at the moment of writing BRI does not live upto the criteria necessary to be classified as a nascent security community. However, three of the fourindicators, establishing of multinational institutions, coordination of inter-state relationships and acore power leading the integration are fulfilled. Only when it comes to expression of sameness inpolitical, cultural, ideological or social areas is BRI lacking. If more focus is placed on cultivating acommon identity, the possibility of BRI developing into a security community can not be ruled out.

How a citizen dialogue or planning consultation is conducted can be a root cause of planning contests in new construction projects. The aim of the paper is to study the effects of the citizensial dialogue in connection with the local development “Muminlandet” theme park at Skutberget. This study explores how the citizen dialogue have been done in Karlstad and tries to look at it in different democracy perspectives. The method used is qualitative semi-structured individual interviews with politicians, civil servants and citizens in order to gain their view of the process. The study analysis shows that the development of Skutberget area in Karlstad municipality has been divided into two separate plans. In one part, which is the outdoor recreational area, citizen dialogue has taken place with deliberative aspects in the form of focus groups and direct dialogues with the citizens. The second part is about “Muminparken” and it has been planned for public consultation meeting. Citizens have only given comments on this plan, but have not had the possibility to have a direct dialog with the people in charge, so no deliberative talks have been achieved. The conclusion that follows is that there has been no opportunity for citizens to enter into dialogue with the municipality regarding the “Muminpark”. The conclusion that follows is that there has been a certain tension between the representatives from my interviews and the citizens. They see the building plan from two different perspectives.

I denna fallstudie granskas 19 matematikvideor och utvärderingar som gjorts av lärarstudenter vidLinköpings universitet. Ingen deltagare i studien hade tidigare skapat en matematikvideo. Lärarstudenternasvideor analyseras mha ett egenutvecklat analysverktyg och följande forskningsfrågor besvaras:1) Hur kan av lärarstudenter skapade mikroföreläsningar i form av förklarande matematikvideor om ett förbestämtämne karaktäriseras?2) Hur relaterar lärarstudenternas val av upplägg och presentationssätt i matematikvideor till derekommendationer som förespråkas av aktuell forskning?3) Hur bör den utgivna uppgiften modifieras om den upplevs som problematisk och vilket förberedandematerial bör man låta studenterna ta till sig av för att de ska klara uppgiften bättre?Jag kommer bland annat fram till att deltagarnas val av längd på video ligger i linje med vad forskningenföreslår, men att detta val också kan ha påverkats av en instruktion som initialt gavs i uppgiften.

In political science literature, the development of social trust is often explained in terms of the influence of different environmental factors, socioeconomic status (SES) being one of the most important. Yet, even though there is empirical support of a genetic component in the expression of social trust, less is known about its interaction with environmental factors. The present study aims to explore heritability of social trust across socioeconomic status using a twin-design that tests potential gene-environment (GxE) interactions. Moreover, the study explicitly tests the hypothesis that different levels of SES may moderate the influence of genetic and environmental effects on social trust. Data comes from the Swedish Twin Registry and consist of 1535 twin pairs born between 1943–1959. Social trust was measured through self-report on a scale of 1–10. Socioeconomic status was assessed as a dichotomized variable of high/low SES, determined on the basis of the father’s occupation during the twin’s childhood or adolescence. To test whether SES interacted with genetic and environmental effects for social trust, I used structural equation modeling (SEM). Results from the best fitting model show that social trust has a significant genetic component, with an estimated heritability of 0.41 in low SES and 0.33 in high SES. Results showed no evidence for a significant difference in heritability between low and high SES. Accordingly, it can be concluded that the results of the study do not support the hypothesis that SES moderate the influence of genetic effects on social trust.

Den här uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka hur statens roll i krisberedskapen påverkas av det resiliensperspektiv som utgör grunden i den nationella strategin för skydd av samhällsviktig verksamhet. Uppsatsens frågeställningar är: ”Vilken form tar sig statens makt gentemot det omgivande samhället?” och ”Vilket önskvärt tillstånd för statens roll i krisberedskapen uttrycks i strategin?” Med utgångspunkt i governance-teori skapas ett analysverktyg med idealtyper av statens roll i samhällsstyrningen. Det används sedan för att analysera strategin. Analysen kompletteras av en intervju med en informant som har kunskap om strategins innehåll och om arbetet att ta fram den. Analysen visar att staten använder sig av samverkan när det är nödvändigt, men behåller samtidigt stort inflytande över policyprocessen. Vidare är det få av dimensionerna där den önskvärda rollen för staten faller helt inom den ena eller den andra kategorin i analysverktyget – ofta finns det drag av såväl government som governance.
