Etude et réalisation de filtres matriochkas pour des applications spatiales / Conception and fabrication of matriochka filters for spatial applications

Hallet, Christophe 26 October 2018 (has links)
The matriochka resonator is based on reentrant coaxial Stepped Impedance Resonator (SIR). So, the thesis develops theoretical innovations on the matriochka technology offering accurate analytical models on the frequency and the quality factor behaviors of the resonator. The models prove the existence of degrees of freedom within the matriochka resonator which allows to get different form factors of the resonator. The degrees of freedom create many configurations of the matriochka resonator for a fundamental frequency and a quality factor. Consequently, a volume optimization is realized to design a L-band filter and a C-band filter. A multipactor study is also carried out for the L-band filter. So, a joint optimization method of the multipactor and the volume minimization is proposed for this filter. Thus, the models and optimisations are used in the order to to design and fabricate the microwave filters. The first one is a transmission L-band filter for the navigation application Galileo which offers a volume alternative and a high power in the vaccum. Then, the second one is a reception C-band filter for the telemetry application which offers wide spurious free-performance and a low volume compared to the state of the art. Finally, for a frequency and a quality factor and depending on the configurations, the matriochka technology offers an alternative of the resonator volume, and it offers a wide spurious free- performance and a low volume compared to the state of the art.

A microscale chemical sensor platform for environmental monitoring

Truax, Stuart 18 August 2011 (has links)
The objective of this research is to apply micromachined silicon-based resonant gravimetric sensors to the detection of gas-phase volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This is done in two primary tasks: 1) the optimization and application of silicon disk resonators to the detection of gas-phase VOCs, and 2) the development and application of a novel gravimetric-capacitive multisensor platform for the detection of gas-phase VOCs. In the rst task, the design and fabrication of a silicon-based disk resonator structure utilizing an in-plane resonance mode is undertaken. The resonance characteristics of the disk resonator are characterized and optimized. The optimized characteristics include the resonator Q-factor as a function of geometric parameters, and the dynamic displacement of the in-plane resonance mode. The Q-factors of the disk resonators range from 2600 to 4360 at atmosphere for disk silicon thicknesses from 7 µm to 18 µm, respectively. The resonance frequency of the in-plane resonance mode ranges from 260 kHz up to 750 kHz. The disk resonators are applied to the sensing of gas-phase VOCs using (poly)isobutylene as a sensitive layer. Limits of detection for benzene, toluene and m-xylene vapors of 5.3 ppm, 1.2 ppm, and 0.6 ppm are respectively obtained. Finally, models for the limits of detection and chemical sensitivity of the resonator structures are developed for the case of the polymer layers used. In the second task, a silicon-based resonator is combined with a capacitive structure to produce a multisensor structure for the sensing of gas-phase VOCs. Fabrication of the multisensor structure is undertaken, and the sensor is theoretically modeled. The baseline capacitance of the capacitor component of the multisensor is estimated to be 170 fF. Finally, initial VOC detection results for the capacitive aspect of the sensor are obtained.

Filtres à forts facteurs de qualité accordables continument / Continuously tunable filters using high quality factor resonators

Laplanche, Etienne 18 October 2019 (has links)
New needs in the field of satellite telecommunications have led manufacturers in the sector to focus on optimizing resources by creating reconfigurable systems able to adapt their operating frequencyplan during the mission. This thesis focuses on multiplexers and how to make them agile through their architecture and the filters that compose them. This manuscript starts by realizing the state of the art oftunable filtering devices through analysis of contributions made by research teams around the world. Based on this state of art, solutions to the problematic are proposed using a hybrid coupler multiplexing topology. Then studies are presented on various tunable cavities or coupling elements concepts. Some of these concepts have been selected and assembled to form tunable filtering and multiplexing functions. The last part thus presents two tunable multiplexers, allowing narrowband or broadband reconfiguration. An experimental realization has also been conducted on the narrowband version.

Compact Superconducting Dual-Log Spiral Resonator with High Q-Factor and Low Power Dependence.

Excell, Peter S., Hejazi, Z.M. January 2002 (has links)
No / A new dual-log spiral geometry is proposed for microstrip resonators, offering substantial advantages in performance and size reduction at subgigahertz frequencies when realized in superconducting materials. The spiral is logarithmic in line spacing and width such that the width of the spiral line increases smoothly with the increase of the current density, reaching its maximum where the current density is maximum (in its center for ¿/2 resonators). Preliminary results of such a logarithmic ten-turn (2 × 5 turns) spiral, realized with double-sided YBCO thin film, showed a Q.-factor seven times higher than that of a single ten-turn uniform spiral made of YBCO thin film and 64 times higher than a copper counterpart. The insertion loss of the YBCO dual log-spiral has a high degree of independence of the input power in comparison with a uniform Archimedian spiral, increasing by only 2.5% for a 30-dBm increase of the input power, compared with nearly 31% for the uniform spiral. A simple approximate method, developed for prediction of the resonant frequency of the new resonators, shows a good agreement with the test results.

Výzkum pokročilých metod analýzy online písma se zaměřením na hodnocení grafomotorických obtíží u dětí školního věku / Research of Advanced Online Handwriting Analysis Methods with a Special Focus on Assessment of Graphomotor Disabilities in School-aged Children

Zvončák, Vojtěch January 2021 (has links)

Innovative production of nuclear fuel by microwave internal gelation.

Cabanes Sempere, Maria 02 September 2013 (has links)
In the continuous aim to reduce the amount of minor actinides (MA) from the spent fuel of Light Water Reactors (LWR) and therefore reduce its radiotoxicity (radioactive toxicity), new nuclear fuel concepts have been developed. Sphere-Pac (SP) fuel gives the opportunity to reintroduce the MA in a fuel matrix and to burn them in a fast reactor, which facilitates a multi-cycle because of its breeding feature, or in a subcritical fast system, i.e. an Accelerator Driven System (ADS) where its sub-criticality allows higher MA contents than a normal fast reactor reducing efficiently the radiotoxicity in one step. SP fuel is produced from the base solution (already containing all the elements) by internal gelation, which guarantees a good material homo- geneity and a lower contamination risk compared to the classical pellet fabrication, avoiding presses and grinding machines. The internal gelation is an aqueous chemical reaction occurring when the solution is heated up to 80 ± 5¿C. When performing the internal gelation process with electro- magnetic heating, some advantages appear with respect to the traditionally heating through conduction by contact of the sample with hot silicon oil: the recycling step of the oil and the organic solvents necessary to clean the particles from oil are avoided. In the Microwave Internal Gelation (MIG) unit, the microwaves represent a much simpler and safer alternative: the contactless volumetric heating facilitates the remote production of the fuel in hot cells and furthermore reduces the contaminated liquid waste. The fuel related project called Platform for Innovative Nuclear FuEls (PINE), in which this thesis is embedded, aims for the production of SP- fuel by MIG. In the MIG system, the heating time is very short (in the order of tens of milliseconds), therefore the microwave heating parameters have to be optimized and a good knowledge of the interaction between the microwaves and the samples must be achieved. In the first part of this dissertation a finite difference time domain (FDTD) thermal model capable to determine over each instant about the thermal behaviour of a definite point inside a material during heat process- ing is investigated. A detailed overview of the most relevant parameters on the model including the boundary conditions (e.g. convection) is pre- sented. Furthermore, the model is analytically implemented and validated with different techniques: a theoretical based physically validation, a par- tial differential equations (PDEtools) based validation and a validation with examples from the literature. Secondly, possible microwave cavity designs for MIG are researched. The cavities (selection of modes, resonant frequency, Q-factor, etc.) and its subsequent characterization for the coupling of energy are explained. Furthermore, the power transfer mechanisms of the cavities are explained using the perturbation method to analyse the losses when a dielectric sam- ple is placed inside a cavity. The developed power transfer model delivers the microwave heat generation rate which is applied to the FDTD thermal model mentioned in the previous paragraph. The analytical results provide a positive impression about the feasibility of producing gelated spheres by MIG. Next, the main parameters dealing with the heating of a material by microwaves are introduced. A new procedure that enables the measure- ment of dielectric properties of aqueous droplets freely falling through a microwave cavity is developed. The experimental setup is presented and several experiments prove its feasibility. The measured dielectric properties are afterwards included in the perturbation and thermal models with the main intention of determining the absorbed power by the material in form of drops and the reached temperature. In the last part the MIG system for the laboratory practice of the high frequency heating applied to the PINE project is implemented. Each device is characterized for a power study precedent to the MIG system assembly, avoiding then failures when putting the system into operation. In addition, the experimental techniques and the results are reported. Successful pro- duction of gelated spheres shows the favourable usage of microwave for the production of SP-fuel by internal gelation. / Cabanes Sempere, M. (2013). Marín Martínez, Sandra 31 October 2022 (has links)
An assessment of the role of corporate brand identity in corporate brand image formation

Le Roux, Christelle 13 June 2013 (has links)
This study focuses on the extent to which the various elements of corporate brand identity as identified in the literature are perceived to contribute to corporate brand image formation. In doing so, a theoretical perspective is adopted for this study that borrows from both marketing communication and corporate communication theories. Three data collection techniques – Q methodology, an online questionnaire and computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI) – were used to determine to what extent these elements are perceived significant in corporate brand image formation among participants from 106 South African organisations across various business sectors. Four categories were identified to be perceived as significant for corporate brand image formation, namely transformational leadership and management, positioning and differentiation strategy, brand equity and employee orientation and mentorship. To date, a comprehensive measuring instrument that theoretically includes all the corporate brand identity elements perceived to be significant in corporate brand image formation has not been developed. Based on the research findings, the study aims to propose a theoretical framework for establishing a measuring instrument that includes all the corporate brand identity elements deemed significant in corporate brand image formation as perceived by South African organisations. The objective of providing a theoretical framework for establishing a measuring instrument is to enable organisations to assess the role of their corporate brand identity in corporate brand image formation among their stakeholder groups. The theoretical framework includes the four identified categories perceived as significant in corporate brand image formation. It indicates which of the corporate brand identity elements included in the four categories are perceived to be more significant in corporate brand image formation by South African organisations. In addition, it provides assumptions on how these corporate brand identity elements are perceived to work in synergy to enhance corporate brand image formation based on the research results. / Communication Science / D.
