CCSDS SPACE LINK EXTENSION SERVICE MANAGEMENT STANDARDS AND PROTOTYPING ACTIVITIES

Pietras, John 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 20-23, 2003 / Riviera Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / The Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) is developing standards for the interface through which spaceflight mission managers request tracking, telemetry, and command (TT&C) and Space Link Extension (SLE) services from TT&C ground stations and networks. The standards are intended for use not just by the spaceflight projects and networks operated by the CCSDS member agencies, but also by commercial networks and networks operated by other governmental agencies. As part of the process of developing the standards, several prototypes are under development. This paper presents a summary status of both the emerging service request standards and the prototypes that implement them.

Novel BICM HARQ Algorithm Based on Adaptive Modulations

Kumar, Kuldeep, Perez-Ramirez, Javier 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2011 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-Seventh Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 24-27, 2011 / Bally's Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Nevada / A novel type-II hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) algorithm using adaptive modulations and bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) is presented. The algorithm uses different optimized puncturing patterns for different transmissions of the same data packet. The proposed approach exploits mapping diversity through BICM with iterative decoding. The modulation order is changed in each transmission to keep the number of symbols transmitted constant. We present new bit error rate and frame error rate analytical results for the proposed technique showing good agreement with simulation results. We compare the throughput performance of our proposed HARQ technique with a reference HARQ technique that uses different mapping arrangements but keeps the modulation order fixed. By using optimized puncturing patterns and adaptive modulations, our method provides significantly better throughput performance over the reference HARQ method in the whole signalto- noise ratio (SNR) range, and achieves a gain of 12 dB in the medium SNR region.

Psykologisk påverkan för ökad bältesanvändning inom kollektivtrafik / Psychologically affecting passengers' to increase seat belt use on public transport

Schön, Isabella, Tunefjord, Jannika January 2014 (has links)
Previous research indicates that it is possible to psychologically affect people to increase their seat belt use on public transport (Young, et al., 2008). The study's hypothesis is that bus drivers can affect passengers' psychologically to use seat belts on public transport by delivering requests. The research questions are whether drivers can affect passengers with a neutral, pressuring, and/or humoristic request, how the seat belt usage appears within different age groups, if there is a difference between the sexes in seat belt usage, and if passengers' habits influence their seat belt usage. Four experimental groups were observed, one of which was the control group. The participants were passengers on a bus traveling from Lidköping to Skövde. 40 participants of the 93 observed were interviewed. Observations of the participants' seat belt use were conducted before and after the delivered request. The results of the observations showed no significant difference in seat belt use after the given request. Neither was there a significant difference in seat belt use between the sexes or a difference between the passengers' seat belt use at the time of the interviews and their habits of using the seat belt on public transport. The results of the interviews showed a significant difference between age groups in seatbelt use. It was suggested that requests from the bus driver would increase the seat belt use, although the observational results were not significant. Furthermore if the seat belts were more comfortable and flexible the seat belt use might increase. Young adults use seat belts less than middle aged adults; therefore, focus should possibly be on increasing the seat belt use of young adults.

Interpersonal and Shared Decision Making models of communication applied to simulated requests for organ donation

Baughn, Daniel 30 April 2009 (has links)
Using an analogue format, the present study evaluated the viability of relationship and interactional concepts that have been applied to the physician-patient interaction to the field of organ donation by examining the donation request process between procurement coordinators and simulated families. Interpersonal processes were assessed using behavioral ratings by independent observers. Procurement coordinators were viewed as being more submissive than dominant and more friendly than hostile. Family members were viewed as being more hostile than friendly, more dominant and hostile than submissive or friendly, disclosing slightly more personal information than medical information, and engaging in slightly more shared decision making than providing medical information. Procurement coordinator gender and ethnicity and family ethnicity influenced interpersonal behavior. Several interpersonal variables were associated with measures of the “decision to donate” obtained from raters and simulated families. Implications for the field of organ donation and the training of procurement coordinators are discussed.

Trestní právo a euthanasie / Criminal Law and Euthanasia

Dřímal, Pavel January 2011 (has links)
Euthanasia represents one of the most controversial topics around the world. As I mentioned in the first chapter there is no worldwide consistency whether to accept the idea of legalization Active Voluntary Euthanasia ("AVE") or not. The goal of this diploma thesis is not to persuade anybody. In approximately 60 pages of the text I am providing readers with some essential information about euthanasia in the Czech Republic. I am also trying to compare the foreign legal regulation of euthanasia and assisted suicide but theoretical ideas as well. The first chapter is mainly trying to capture the reader's focus and setting the theme of my diploma thesis. The second chapter of my thesis is called ,,The Term Euthanasia". This chapter provides readers with several definitions of euthanasia and Physician Assisted Suicide ("PAS") as well as some historic data. The act of euthanasia has its origin in Greek. First word euthanasia is mentioned in old Greek literature. The term euthanasia is composed from two Greek words. Eu which means good or normal and Thanatos which means death. The word euthanasia can be literally translated as a "good death". It should be mentioned that during the centuries the meaning of euthanasia has changed. Today's understanding of euthanasia is ending ones life in order to relieve...

Euthanasie / Euthanasia

Taschnerová, Lucie January 2011 (has links)
Euthanasia was and still is one of the most controversial topics. It is a complex problem that involves religious, moral, medical and legal aspects. My thesis is focused on euthanasia in relation to the law. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the issue of euthanasia from the perspective of legislation in the Czech Republic. The thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter contains introduction to the topic of euthanasia. The second chapter is devoted to the definition of term euthanasia. Euthanasia is a word of Greek origin ("eu"- good and "thanatos"- death). Its meaning is good, beautiful or merciful death. Nowadays the term is used in the sense of intentionally termination of life on request to relieve pain and suffering. This chapter also includes the definition of forms of euthanasia. The third chapter is focused on euthanasia in the sense of killing on request. In this meaning, euthanasia has never been explicitly regulated in the Czech Republic. But it does not mean that the issue of legislation of euthanasia is not actual. This chapter is subdivided into the three parts. The first part is about history of legislation of euthanasia. The second part is concentrated on legal classification of euthanasia according to the Czech Penal Code. The last part contains the ideas de lege ferenda....

Euthanasie / Euthanasia

Vlčková, Klára January 2013 (has links)
The aim of this Master's degree thesis is an overall assessment of the issue of euthanasia and a consideration of its possible legal regulation. In order to accomplish this aim it was necessary to carry out an analysis of foreign legislations of euthanasia. Furthermore, I have dealt in this thesis with the current status of euthanasia under the legal order of the Czech Republic with primary emphasis on criminal law. This thesis consists in total of four chapters. Chapter One deals with the most general matters of euthanasia, in particular with the matter of the term itself, usually determined forms and historical developments of attitudes towards euthanasia. Chapter Two compares foreign legislations of euthanasia and their impact on practice. Chapter Three clarifies the status of euthanasia in respect of the Czech legal order, in particular from the perspective of criminal law, in respect of recent legislative efforts for its legal regulation and considerations of possible future legal development. The last chapter deals with fundamental arguments of supporters and dissenters of euthanasia and provides its summarizing assessment. The conclusion, which I have reached while working on this thesis, is kind of a compromise. I suppose that legalization of euthanasia does not stand for a right direction,...

Change management / Change management

Kebrlová, Linda January 2010 (has links)
This diploma thesis is focused on Change Management, for which I used translation "správa změn" in my thesis. The diploma thesis includes a proposal for solution of Change Management, which is based from elements of RUP (Rational Unified Process), and methodology and CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration). In the first chapter, entitled Software requirements, there are at first defined basic concepts related to Change Management. The chapter includes the definition of software requirements and specification of different types of requirements. Then it focuses on sphere of Requirements Management, involving Change Management. Next part of chapter includes improving of existing processes, which can be used for change-oriented processes. The following section introduces the basic characteristics of RUP methodology. At first there are described its basic features, best practices and elements of methodology. The following there are described the components and procedures of specific discipline Configuration and Change Management. A separate part of thesis is also focused on the the presentation of the CMMI model. In the charter, which is devoted to this model, there is a definition of basic concepts. Then there is description of the model, the various components and method of improving in CMMI model. In the following section is a description of the Change Management in the CMMI model. The final part tries to evaluate the Change Management in concept of the RUP methodology and CMMI model. It also focuses on aspects of integrating these two areas. I try design solution of Change Management based on analysis of available information. This solution is the main aim of my thesis.

Mobility Analysis of Zoo Visitors

Byström, Kim January 2019 (has links)
In a collaboration between Kolmården Zoo and Linköping University, supported by the Norrköping municipality’s fund for research and innovation, mobility measurements have been performed inside the zoo. These measurements have been done by six WiFi sniffers collecting anonymised MAC addresses from the visitors smartphones. The aim of this thesis is to analyse these data to understand visitor flows in the park and other statistics using a model based mobility analysis. The work implies that one can make a rather good prediction of the geographical visitor distribution using this equipment and statistical models.

: Criteria’s identification of heritage value for listed buildings by the analyze of its revocation since 1990

Couturier, Bastien 11 June 2018 (has links)
In France there are more than 44.236 listed buildings, whose diversity of architectural typolo-gies increased significantly these last decades (industrials buildings, modern constructions, etc.). However, this diversification will entail the loss of criteria specifying the monuments which are meant to be preserved. This doctoral thesis is thus focused on the processes of pat-rimonialisation and on selection rules of buildings considered for listing. To be precise, this study relates to the opposite fact: thereviews, the cancellations of protections and therefore the delisting of buildings, in France, since 1990. This research aims to highlight the intrinsic and extrinsic factors of delisting requests – a net increase, mostly in the city centres - and thus to get an overall picture of the situation on inheritance evolution and on process for listing or delisting.
