Lecture subjective en classe et avènement du sujet lecteur : étude longitudinale en lycée professionnel / Subjective reading in the French class and birth of the reader as a subject-reader : a follow-up study in a vocational school

Lemarchand Thieurmel, Stéphanie 17 October 2014 (has links)
In vocationa l schools, can the school become a vector for the enhancemeht of the reading experience ? To answer this question, we encouraged the pupils to read subjec tively and analysed the persona!readin gs of each student. A comparative study over three years took place in two different classes which allowed us to highlight the links between school reading and everyd ay literature. In each case, we find the need for stories which provide the means to access knowledge, the very knowledge Claude Lévi-Strauss termed the mythical thought. We identify three uses of school texts which, once subtly mixed, allow access to literary reading and the birth of the subject-reader.

The Audiobook as a Teaching Tool : English teachers’ attitudes towards using the audiobook as a teaching tool in the SLA classroom

Ala-Jukuri, Elina, Envall, Hanna January 2022 (has links)
The increased popularity of listening to audiobooks has influenced the discussion of literacy, pressuring the educational system to adjust accordingly. This study investigates if the audiobook is being used as a teaching tool in the upper secondary, SLA classroom and what attitude teachers have toward using audiobooks in their teaching as well as the reasons behind their attitudes. This research also investigates whether there is a correlation between age or student program and the usage of audiobooks. To gather data, a questionnaire was sent out to 46 English language teachers in upper secondary school in Halland. The questionnaire included open-ended questions which resulted in qualitative answers from 28 participants. The retrieved result proved that most upper secondary school English teachers are using the audiobook as a teaching tool, however, the reason for their usage differed. Some participants, who did not make use of the audiobook in their classroom still had a positive attitude towards using it and could present many beneficial aspects of it. The result contradicts the initial hypothesis about teachers showing reluctance using audiobooks in their teaching.

"Jag blev galen i den där boken" : En studie av vietnamesiska barns syn på läsning / "I got mad about that book" : A study of Vietnamese children's views on reading

Åberg, Sofia January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this Bachelor thesis and Minor Field Study is, from the perspective of the Vietnamese children at The General Science Library in Ho Chi Minh City, to obtain a deeper understanding of the ways in which the reading environment of The Children's Room supports children's interest in reading and their reading experience. It is assumed that reading is a dynamic and social activity made possible by internal and external conditions. In this context limited freedom of expression is one of the external conditions that is taken into consideration. In order to obtain understanding of Vietnamese children's experiences of reading, I used Aidan Chambers' model of The Reading Circle as a theoretical framework. The methods used in this study were semi-structured interviews with Vietnamese young people at the library, four girls and five boys, aged between 10 and 15 years. The children in this study describe two types of reading experiences: 1) reading that gives feelings of excitement and joy, and makes them want to reread a book, talk about it with others, think of it, remember and analyse it. And 2) reading they describe as developing, either spiritually or intellectually, a form of reading for improvement. Four reading environments are identified that both enable and obstruct reading experiences, their homes, school, library and the bookstore. Primarily, The Children's Room enables reading.

A escritura da voz : uma experiência na prática de leitura/escuta de As aventuras de Pinóquio, de Collodi, no ensino fundamental /

Souza, Carolina Gonçalves. January 2009 (has links)
These concerns led to the present work, which has, as study subject, the listening process of a literary text as a cultural practice of learning by orality. Its general objective is to experience this process, with children about seven and eight years old, from "E. M. 'Profª Diva Marques Gouvêa'", located in Rio Claro (SP). For this, I plotted as methodology a route with some features of the participant observation and action research, such as the constant observation, the record and the methodological listening posture issues, as well as the cultural history approach in terms of the everyday life study, the readers' community and the cultural practices of reading and listening. We focused in daily readings of the book The Pinocchio's Adventures, by Carlo Collodi (2002). I made the records of the students' speech on the reading of the day, in a Field Diary, with the aid of a photographic camera and camcorder. The theoretical route was based on the formulations of: the reading of world (FREIRE, 2003), the reading experience (Larrosa, 2002, 2005), the formation of the readers' community (CHARTIER, 1999), the importance of classics reading (Calvino, 2004; MACHADO, 2002), and the importance of conducting a proper education literature (Soares, 2003 and others). As final comments, I show some notes on the research objectives, which I consider as accomplished, regarding the description of activities with students and their achievements as readers. The recent researches about the literary reader's formation (CEALE) point to a methodological problem between the literary field and the reading teach in school. My research reinforced a suggestion, also of methodological nature, which may help other people to think what would... (Complete abstract click electronic access below) / Mestre

Tryckt vs digitalt : Materialitetens roll i läsning av tidskrifter / Print vs digital : The role of materiality in reading magazines

Wallin Rundqvist, Sofia January 2022 (has links)
To digitally read books, newspapers and magazines on a tablet, computer or smartphone is constantly increasing in popularity and the number of users of digital magazine subscriptions is increasing every year. The difference in the content between printed and digital magazines in the application Readly is minimal, but the materiality of the medium that holds the content has a significant difference. This bachelor's thesis therefore aims to answer the question: How does materiality affect the reading of digital and printed magazines regarding paratext, document properties and reading experience? The materiality is analyzed based on three aspects: paratext, document properties and reading experience. Using previous theories about the three aspects, a phenomenological approach is used to make the comparison with a focus on observations, experiences and emotions. The comparison is made on the printed and digital version of the magazine Nya rum. The results of the analysis show that digital habits play a major role in how the content is experienced on the tablet. It also appears that the homogeneous design of the tablet creates a distance between the content and the reader, while the printed magazine seems to extend the content all the way out. Other results include that the tablet's navigating functions enable a greater immersion in the text but can also be perceived as disturbing. And finally, that the reader experiences a greater commitment to the printed magazine. The conclusion is that the materiality is important for how the magazine is experienced even though the content is equivalent, but that there are advantages and disadvantages with both the printed and the digital version.

Design av användarupplevelse genom typografiska vägval / Design of User Experience through typographical choices

Nilsson, Josefin, Carlsson, Jacob January 2023 (has links)
The study focuses on how typography affects the overall User Experience on the web, and how the knowledge can be used to design guiding recommendations that can be used to support the design of User Experience through typography on the web. The study is limited to focusing on typography as an area with a focus on the factor’s readability, aesthetics, layout and structure as well as the user's emotional response. The study helps to highlight the importance of making conscious typographic choices when designing and developing websites and to create an understanding of what distinguishes typography on the web from typography on paper and how this should affect the design to ensure a good User Experience. This has been investigated through a literature review and qualitative semi-structured interviews with university students in Skellefteå in Sweden, and Medellín in Colombia.  The results of the study show that people take part in typography in different ways depending on whether the text is on a screen or on a piece of paper, that users tend to leave the website faster if the typography negatively affects the User Experience and that design of typography can evoke different feelings and associations in the user. The conclusion is that more general advice and guidelines for interaction design and interface design are useful when designing typography on the web, but they may need to be supplemented with specific recommendations to clarify which typographic choices should be made on the web and how to ensure a good User Experience. The study proposes indicative recommendations. However, these should be validated and further developed. However, the study contributes to a foundation to build on through continued research on typography and how typographic choices affect the user.

Improving reading experience in digital newspapers

Berg, Mikaela January 2015 (has links)
Reading news on mobile devices has during the past decade transcended into an every- day activity, which induce greater demands on design and presentation of news. Several researchers have examined essential components in the area of digital newspapers, despite this, there are few newspapers that have switched to a reader-friendly format. The objective of this thesis is to evaluate how the reading experience in digital newspa- pers can be improved by abandoning the traditional structure of today’s printed newspapers. Based on numerous tests and studies, as well as support from literature, a set of guidelines has been produced as a result of this thesis. The design guidelines contain recommendations for optimal line size, typeface, point size, appearance, functionality, placement, recognition factor and packaging. To ensure quality, all guidelines were validated in order to prove that the reading experience had increased. An evaluation was performed that attempted to determine that. The statistic result of this thesis showed a significant difference in both reading speed and the subjective experience. However no significant difference could be seen regarding the reading comprehension. The conclusions made was that structure and design of content can influence both reading speed and reading experience. All design guidelines can be used as guidance when developing templates for digital newspapers.

"Čtenářský zážitek" v kontextu školního vzdělávání / "Literature Experience" in the Context of Institutional Education

Krpatová, Lucie January 2019 (has links)
This thesis raises the question of what represents a "reading experience" in the didactic context. It focuses on both the mapping of didactical literature that is available in the Czech environment, and on how to work with the "reading experience" during the Czech language and literature classes. It further presents specific suggestions and comments about how to work on reading of selected texts in the classroom. Primarily, the thesis focuses on education in the sixth grade of primary schools.
