Examining software architecture evolution using change-sets

McNair, Andrew 30 April 2008 (has links)
A significant challenge in understanding the evolution of a software system is coping with the huge amounts of data left behind during the evolution. One strategy for summarizing this data is to visualize its effect on the system’s architecture. Existing tools that implement this strategy often provide mechanisms to filter the data under consideration. However, this filtering is generally limited to showing the evolution over some unbroken sequence of time, for example the changes over the last six months. In this work we present an alternative approach designed to provide a method for examining the net effect of any set of changes on a systems architecture. We also present Motive, a prototype tool that implements this approach, and demonstrate how it can be used to answer questions about software evolution by describing case studies we conducted on two Java systems.

Potřeba pacientů na druh poskytovaných informací / Types of patient's information needs

KOSOVÁ, Michaela January 2017 (has links)
These days human being can find itself swamped with tons of information. It is neccessary to think over provided information given by a health care system and its efficiency. The thesis named Types of patient´s information needs is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. Materials about nursing, medicine, psychology, sociology and a law issued in the Czech Republic and abroad were used to get necessary information about current condition of problematics. Two goals were set based on acquired knowledge. The first goal was to get to know about what type of information were requested and needed by patients and which they missed from nurses and doctors in ambulances and hospitals. The second goal was to double check if a personal perceiving of a given information corresponds with the real diagnosis. With respect to thesis goals, 9 research questions were formulated. Information regarding examined topic were acquired through research and investigation. As the means of collecting the data an interview was chosen. 23 interviews with patiens were done and the analyzed according to the Strausse theory. It was found, that patiens involved in this interview, take care about their health condition and that the information, which they perceive as important, are given to them by the medical staff. The information they have makes them more comfortable and they view it as a very important. It was as certained, that patients are very sensitive about the way the medical staff communicates with them and that their personality plays part in this process. The purpose of this thesis is to give an impulse to reinforce informing the patiens in a written form, but mainly to reinforce their personal contact with a doctor. Is is obvious, that the information and the way they get it is very important for patients.

No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 2472000 bytes, checksum: 1da40c449f0799bfa5b98bc5ce04cafe (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-11-29 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / For several decades, Portuguese Language teaching in schools was founded on a normative perspective, turning almost exclusively to the assimilation of grammar rules or standard language. In this context, the activities of reading and writing took place in a decontextualized way, unrelated to students experience, which made difficult the development of these skills. Against this teaching model, the work proposal from discourse genres, in which fits the current study, seeks to explore text in real conditions of use, highlighting the communicative function beyond the formal aspects of each genre. Based on theorists as Bakhtin (2011) and Marcuschi (2010) with regard to the conception of discoursive/ textual genre, and Dolz, Schneuwly and Noverraz (2011) in relation to Didactic Sequences, among others. The present study aims to prepare 9th grade students of public Elementary School located in the countryside of Pedro Régis (PB) to recognize and produce the genre letter of request from its linguistic and discursive functioning and its social use, investigating the development of skills and argumentative strategies, from the proposed contextualized textual genre production and subsidized by a didactic sequence. The genre was chosen for enabling writing with a concrete social function: request rights and persuade a specific interlocutor, through argument, to take action on any situation. Counting with ten (10) volunteer students, the corpus of our analysis was made for the first and last version of the texts produced by them during the Sequence's implementation. Based on the first productions, we mapped the main difficulties presented by students about genre, from that mapping, modules / workshops were developed aiming to overcome these difficulties. After the comparative analysis between the two versions of the letters, we identified that advances were more significant in the following ways: informativeness, cohesion mechanisms and development of argument. Therefore, the results indicate that the use of DS in the teaching-learning process of investigated genre contributed to enlarge the linguistic-discursive competence of students.
