Spelets regler : En retorisk analys av Mobilbets och Unibets reklamfilmer / Rules of the game : A rhetorical analysis of Mobilbets and Unibets commercials

Parkic, Barbara, Forsell, Linda January 2016 (has links)
This study is researching gambling-commercials that aired on Swedish television channels, and examines how Mobilbet and Unibet uses rhetorical tools in their tv commercials with the form of beliefs by arguments: ethos, pathos and logos. Four commercials were investigated, two of which that were condemned by the Advertising Union representative and the remaining two have been broadcast on television in the fall of 2016. The study will introduce relevant background information about tv commercials, rhetoric, regulations within the ICC and Marketing Practises Act. The analysis is based methodologically from the rhetoric analysis six-step model of Karlberg and Mral in order to be able to break down the tv commercials context into smaller parts, and undertake a comprehensive compilation and analysis. The model is based on the six stages and with the help from these steps and related issues, it was helpful for the rhetorical analysis in order for it to be able to carry on and research the selected commercials. The study has shown that both Mobilbet and Unibet use ethos-, pathos- and logoargument to convince through their advertising. The logo argument Mobilbet and Unibet used in their commercials from 2013/2014 do not have enough of support arguments. Unibet has been the company that has demonstrated the clear changes in their use of rhetoric tools in the tv commercials from autumn 2016 in their way of convince, because they have tried to strengthen their logo arguments with more supporting arguments.

I skuggan av mediernas renommé : En kvalitativ textanalys av krigsfotografier premierade i World Press Photo of the Year

Stenström, Philip, Jansson, Hampus January 2016 (has links)
The aim of our study was to examine war pictures rewarded by the prominent foundation World Press Photo. Direct and indirect the foundation displays pictures to Western audience, pictures that are considered prestigious and current by the foundation itself. The image of World Press Photo and the editorial staff behind the organization therefore reflect how the West perceives current events in the world. Hereby, knowingly and unknowingly the foundation contributes to construct and reproduce everlasting pictures of important events. By examining how pictures are constructed and to ascertain what resemblances and differences that pictures of the Vietnam War as well as modern wars and conflicts contain, we consequently investigated eight war pictures awarded by the foundation World Press Photo. Our findings indicate that these war pictures offer emotional aspects like compassion and suffering. In addition, several photos provide notion of a postcolonial perspective of us and them. Our results also display that the awarded war pictures.

La pronuntiatio musicale : une interprétation rhétorique au service de Händel, Montéclair, C. P. E. Bach et Telemann / The Pronuntiatio in music : A Rhetorical Interpretation with Reference to Händel, Montéclair, C. P. E. Bach and Telemann

Palacios Quiroz, Rafael 13 February 2012 (has links)
The present dissertation aims to contribute to the debate on Historically Informed Performance: setting aside thequestion of a particular piece’s global pronunciation, HIP ignores the rhetorical dimension of musical interpretation, and it is this specific gap we would fill. Based on a reflection on the rhetorical pronuntiatio theory, and leaning on theprinciples of interpretation as exposed in several selected treaties (C.P.E. Bach, Quantz, Mattheson, L. Mozart), ourreflection leads us to propose what we call the Rhetorically Informed Performance. The RIP is defined as a musicalpractice that grounds its interpretative decisions on information contained in the corpus of rhetorical and oratorial artskill treaties, as well as in public-speaking manuals and methods of vocal and instrumental interpretation. Thepronuntiatio is considered in both its visual and auditory aspects (corpus and vox), its four virtues (puritas, perspicuitas, ornatus and aptum), and their respective vices and licenses. Our intention is to put together a group of adjustablerhetorical strategies enabling the analysis to contribute to the interpretation in terms of the generation of ideas, theenrichment and channeling of imagination, and the inscription of the appropriate movement and energy into thesonorous reproduction. This musical pronunciation theory is applied to four pieces (Händel, Montéclair, Telemann,C.P.E. Bach): these examples of interpretation programs allow us to put forward the idea that the music of thatperiod was in its essence eloquent, and that its interpretation cannot become eloquent again without returning torhetorical intelligence and its principles of pronuntiatio.

Norrlin, Elice January 2017 (has links)
The main purpose of this thesis is to qualitatively study how the argumentation appears in the museum debate from 2016 in the Swedish newspapers ”Svenska Dagbladet”, ”Dagens Nyheter”, ”Expressen” and ”Aftonbladet’” from a rhetorical perspective. Research was performed on two to three mounths worth of debate articles from 2016. The thesis has been analysed through both classic rhetorical analysis and from Norman Fairclough’s three- dimensional model in order to answer the questions as to how the argumentation was done in order to acutate the writers positions, which discources that was managing in the debate and how the writers treats the concepts ”identity policy” and ”standard criticism”. Based on the articles that the thesis analysed, I were able to draw certain conclusions. First, the debate concists of writers who argument from rhetorical style figures to persuade one another. Writers identify with each other alternatively exclude from each other, depending on the discourse they are belonging to. And the view of the museum plays a major role in debate, that contributes to the discourse belonging.

A presença da filosofia platônica na pedagogia do estado novo / The Presence of Platonic Philosophy in the New State Pedagogy

Silva, Tatiane da 24 May 2013 (has links)
The Western thought was inaugurated over two thousand years ago by Plato, who created some peculiar forms to elaborate and solve philosophical problems, establishing discursive frameworks that are allowed by thinkers from diverse areas of knowledge, both in political and social field as well in education. Previous research analyzed the books The authoritarian state and national reality by Azevedo Amaral (1938), The National State by Francisco Campos (1941) and Trends of Brazilian education by Lourenço Filho (1940), which are considered as responsible for the criation and dissemination of theoretical basis of the pedagogy that prevailed during New State (1937-1945). The conclusions of that research noted that these authors sought argumentative support in Plato. The aim of this work is to review these books by means of Chaïm Perelmans rhetorical analysis, seeking to investigate the presence of Platonic discursive frameworks in the arguments of those authors. The first chapter discusses metaphor as argumentative strategy, showing that the authors established previously determined guidelines to define New State political and educational actions. The second chapter focuses dissociation of notions, which the authors use to argue about freedom in New State. The third chapter examines the link between act and person, with which the authors give exceptional personal characteristics to the ruler, thus justifying his actions in command of the Nation. The fourth chapter analyses definition, which is used by the authors to disqualify democracy and to praise New State qualities. The conclusions defend that the similarity between the discourses of the authors can be attributed to the presence of Platonic discursive frameworks in their arguments about politics and education; and that this presence is responsible by their alignment to a monistic conception of State.

January 2010 (has links)
Abstract: The present study analyses the philosophical conceptions of John Dewey presented in the book The quest for certainty: a study of the relation of knowledge and action, published in 1929, in which the author proposes to use the method of experimental sciences in human sciences, specially to the examination of moral judgments. In this book, Dewey defends the disruption of the dichotomy between practical and theory and attributes a probabilistic character to the scientific inquiry knowledge, citing as an example the quantun mechanics. The methodology adopted to analyze deweyan discourse is the new rhetoric, based upon Treatise of argumentation by Chaïm Perelman and Lucie Olbrechts-Tyteca. The objective of the this work is to show to the proximity between Dewey and the skepticism, having as a basis the conceptions of Pyrrho from Élis systematized by Aenesidemus and Sextus Empiricus, as well as recent developments of this philosophy. The work also intends to contribute for the discussion of theses which diverge on the theme of this work: on the one hand, the ones that blame Dewey's skepticism for the harmfulness of contemporary education; and, on the other, those which attribute the origin of important progress in pedagogy to Dewey. / Doutor

The mixed economy in China: through rhetorical perspective

Yuan, Yuchun 15 November 2004 (has links)
Mixed economies gradually emerge in many countries. China is no exception. China's traditional planned economy system is limited to state-owned enterprises, which are undergoing reform. In the private sector, the market system has begun to play a dominant role. The coexistence of the planned system and the market system, as well as governmental intervention and regulated policies, constitute China's mixed economy. In this thesis, I try to evaluate Deng Xiaoping's speeches through rhetorical analysis in order to justify China's economic policies. In addition, I illustrate some historical and cultural factors that would affect Chinese ideas towards the market economy.
