Para tanto, enfocamos a personagem criada por Collins e as características que a definem como heroína, comparando-a ao modelo heroico clássico descrito por tantos autores da Grécia e Roma, como, por exemplo, Homero, Hesíodo, Vergílio, etc., e considerando também as reflexões sobre o herói tecidas por Campbell em O herói de mil faces (1997), dentre outros títulos e autores que embasam nossos estudos. Percebemos que há, na série, uma mudança na representação de arquétipos literários, a saber, herói clássico versus donzela clássica, visto que Katniss Everdeen assume o papel de herói e Peeta Mellark, tributo masculino, assume o papel de donzela, pois, em grande parte do enredo, é salvo por ela. Dessa forma, buscamos verificar o que desvia a trama em estudo dos moldes então estabelecidos pelos Clássicos, ou seja, como Collins redefine os padrões da Literatura Clássica greco-romana, nos quais o homem era guerreiro e a mulher era dona de casa. Para isso, iniciamos nossas considerações a partir de Jung (2002), porque autores como Randazzo (1996), Vogler (2006) e Meletínski (1998), dentre outros, partem das postulações do psicanalista suíço para discutirem a respeito de arquétipos encontrados na publicidade, literatura e cinema. No percurso do estudo da heroína, realizamos uma breve comparação entre Katniss, outrora escravazida pela Capital (em uma espécie de escravidão velada), que se torna heroína e símbolo de toda uma revolução, e o herói masculino de outra obra, Espártaco, escravo e gladiador da Trácia, que foi líder de uma revolução conhecida por Guerra dos Escravos, conforme se pode comprovar no romance Espártaco, de Howard Fast (1981), publicado originalmente em inglês em 1951, e no filme baseado nesta obra literária, de Stanley Kubrick (1960), com a finalidade principal de comprovar a mudança no tratamento dos arquétipos e averiguar a presença de elementos ligados à cultura romana na série escrita por Collins. Enfim, buscamos verificar de que modo o modelo de Herói Clássico, seja na figura dos heróis mitológicos, seja na personagem histórica de Espártaco, é representado na caracterização da protagonista feminina de “Jogos vorazes” e quais significados tais representações acrescentam à interpretação da série. / The present study aims at analyzing the series titled “The Hunger Games” to demonstrate, by observing the characterization of the female character Katniss Everdeen, how the representation of the heroic model from Classical Antiquity persists in Contemporary Literature. In order to do so, we have focused on the character created by Collins and the features that define her as a heroine, comparing her to the classical heroic model described by several authors in Greece and Rome, such as Homer, Hesiod, Vergil, etc., as well as to specifications about the hero character presented in “The Hero with a Thousand Faces” (1997), by Joseph Campbell, along with additional information on the topic provided by other authors. We have observed a change, in Collins’ novels, regarding the representation of literary archetypes, namely the classical Hero versus the classical Maiden, as Katniss Everdeen takes the role of the Hero and Peeta Mellark, the male tribute, plays the role of the Maiden, for throughout a large part of the plot he is saved by her. Therefore, we seeked to verify what deviates the plot in study from the patterns once established by Classical tradition, or, in other words, to observe how Collins redefines the standards of the Greco-Roman Classical Literature, in which the man was a warrior and the woman was a housewife. Our study is based on Jung (2002) because authors such as Randazzo (1996), Vogler (2006) and Meletínski (1998), among others, consider the postulates of the Swiss psychoanalyst to discuss archetypes found in advertising, literature and cinema. In the course of the study of the heroine, for the purpose of proving the change in the treatment of archetypes and ascertaining the presence of elements related to the Roman culture in the series written by Collins, we made a brief comparison between Katniss, once slaved by the Capitol (in a kind of veiled slavery), who becomes a heroine and a symbol of an entire revolution, and the male hero of another artwork, Spartacus, a slave and gladiator from Thrace who was the leader of a revolution known as the “War of the Slaves,” as it can be seen in Howard Fast’s (1981) novel Spartacus, originally published in English in 1951, and in the film based on this literary work, directed by Stanley Kubrick (1960). Finally, our study demonstrates that the Classical Hero model, whether taken from mythological heroes or from the historical character of Spartacus, plays an important role in the characterization of the female protagonist of “The Hunger Games,” adding different meanings to the interpretation of the series. / Proc. 2015/23592-6

Com a publicação de "O Minoutauro" (1939) e "Os doze trabalhos de Hércules" (1944), Lobato apresenta uma imagem da Grécia Antiga (em especial, do século V a. C., conhecido como "século de Péricles") e da Grécia Arcaica (que ele chama de "Heróica", por ser onde localiza os grandes feitos de heróis guerreiros, como Hércules). Nessas obras, chamanos a atenção a maneira como o autor se apropria da chamada "mitologia grega" - subvertendo, muitas vezes, a versão canônica, re-inventando narrativas, adaptando-as ao público mirim e apresentando uma imagem idealizada da cultura grega antiga e arcaica. Monteiro Lobato, writer known as one of the founders of our literature for young people, had an important contribution to these first adaptations. By publishing O Minotauro (The Minotaur), in 1939, and Os doze trabalhos de Hércules (The twelve trials of Hercules) in 1944, Lobato portraits na image of Ancient Greece (especially of the 5th century B. C., called â?¿Age of Periclesâ??) as well as Archaic Greece (which was called "Heroic" by Lobato, for being the period in which the great acts of heroes, like Hercules, took place). In these books, the way in which the writer makes use of the so-called Greek mythology attracts our attention â?¿ sometimes subverting the canonical version, reinventing narratives, adapting them to the young public and presenting na idealized image of the ancient and archaic Greek culture. In this way, Lobato reveals his influences of French writers, like Ernest Renan and Anatole France, and the philosopher and historian Will Durant, by reinforcing in his books, the idea of the "Greek miracle". Moreover, he singularly constructs the image of the hero Hercules, as a rude man, not only in his manners, but also in his intelligence, but endowed with great sentimentality. The enemies are at the gates. Being dazzled by their golden jewels - or perhaps fascinated by their handsome leader - a girl makes a pact with them and betrays her city and her own kin. However, instead of the promised reward, she is killed by her beneficiary. In a particular variant of this story, the girl's name is Tarpeia and the city is Rome, the agreed reward are golden bracelets of the hostile Sabines and the murder weapons are their shields being worn - surprise! - on their left arms together with the jewels. The rendering of this scene in the Roman visual arts is of the primary interest of this thesis. As a particular event linked tightly to the legendary history of Rome, the Punishment of Tarpeia is generally believed to lack any closer iconographic parallels in the Etruscan and Greek arts; sometimes it is even supposed that the traitress is portrayed as a kind of heroic figure, not a negative one. Having analysed the surviving scenes of the Punishment of Tarpeia, I put that opinion into question suggesting they were artificially designed and composed in full accordance with the traditional imagery of the trespassers in the Greek and Etruscan visual arts. Auteurs et poètes étaient engagés dans cette réflexion collective sur les fondements de la Ville, son identité, ses rapports avec son prince et ses dieux, I'imperium d'Auguste et les modèles à offrir à la nouvelle génération. La thèse entend étudier la manière dont le poète latin Horace participa non seulement au renouvellement des formes poétiques à Rome, mais aussi à ces réflexions sur le nouus status. Conflits et amours mythiques représentés sur des mosaïques de l’Afrique proconsulaire du Bas-Empire : fin du IIIe siècle – début du Ve siècle / Mythological conflict and love stories depicted in the Africa proconsularis mosaics in the late antiquity

Cette étude cherche à appréhender la place qu’avaient occupée les Conflits et les Amours mythiques dans la mosaïque de l’Afrique Proconsulaire au Bas-Empire (fin du IIIème - début du Vème siècle). Aussi, savoir la nature des sujets, les modalités d’assimilation figurative, l’évolution des concepts, ainsi que les rapports qu’auraient eus les mosaïstes ou les commanditaires avec une culture considérée comme étrangère. Pour chaque mosaïque sont mis en évidence les apports respectifs de l’iconographie et de la littérature. Les composantes structurelles et conjoncturelles de chaque image, à savoir le cadre de l’action, les personnages, les modèles et les formules iconographiques, ainsi que les modalités de mise en scène, sont examinés de plus prés. s’interrogeant sur l’insistance des empreints, l’interchangeabilité entre thèmes, nous remettons en question des idées devenues avec le temps comme des dogmes, telle la totale dépendance de la mosaïque de l’Afrique Proconsulaire aux tendances artistiques de l’époque et son incapacité à se détacher de l’hégémonie des arts dits majeurs, et nous montrons que les mosaïstes africains ne sont pas de simples imitateurs, mais de véritables novateurs. D’autres approches sont nécessaires pour mettre nos mosaïques dans leurs contextes architecturaux et décoratifs d’origines. Ceci permettant d’aborder les problématiques liées aux relations sémantiques, vise à connaître les modalités d’insertions utilisées dans le reste de l’Empire, mais aussi de s’interroger sur la validité de certaines idées, comme l’existence d’une codification régissant les scènes représentées et les contextes architecturaux.Enfin le replacement de la mosaïque, et à l’intérieur d’une production artistique englobant toutes les autres disciplines, et la prise en considération de toutes les particularités, géographiques, historiques, sociales et culturelles de l’Afrique romaine au Bas-Empire, montre qu’il est difficile, voire impossible, de mesurer le rapport exact entre fonction administrative, statut financier et niveau culturel des commanditaires. Au lieu de continuer de parler de l’existence d’une même et une seul culture élitiste à laquelle adhère tous les aristocrates de l’Empire, il serait nécessaire de surpasser certains a priori et parler de diversités et de différences que de ressemblances. / The object of this thesis is the review of the conflicts and mythological love endeavors depicted in the Africa Proconsularis mosaics in the Late Antiquity period. In the meantime, one of the main aims is the study of the subject of the mosaics, the manners of the figurative assimilation, the evolution of the concept, and also the relation between the mosaic makers and a culture considered as a foreign one.For each mosaic are highlighted the respective contributions of the iconography and literature. The structural and conjectural components of each image, meaning the setting of the actions, the characters, the models and the iconographic formulas, and the methods of the production are examined more narrowly; questioning the insistence of imprints, interchange- ability between subjects. We are putting into question theories which has become over time as a dogma, such as the total dependence of the mosaic of Africa Proconsularis to the artistic trends of the time and the inability to separate from the hegemony of the arts alias the major; and we will try to demonstrate that the African mosaic makers were not mere imitators, but truly innovators.Moreover, other approaches are needed to put the mosaics within their architectural and decorative context. These approaches will allow addressing issues related to semantic relations, aiming to find out the modality of the insertion in the rest of the Empire, but also to investigate the validity of certain theories, such as the existence of a codification as a regulator linking the scenes presented and the architectural contexts.Finally, the replacement of the mosaic, in the artistic production encompassing all the other disciplines, taking into consideration all the geographical, historical, social particularities, and the cultural aspects of Roman Africa during the Late Antiquity, which give evidence that it is difficult or impossible to measure the exact relationship between administrative function, financial status and cultural level of the elite sponsors. Instead of, continuing to discuss about the existence of only an elitist culture that adheres to all the aristocracy of the Empire, it would need to exceed some a priori and talk about diversity and differences rather than only similarities.
