Audiovisuais archives, interviews and testimonies are presented to prove the importance played for the first brazilian radio, whose objective was to spread out education and culture to all people, narrowing the tie between science, technology and information. The period of its existence (1923-1936) was marked by a peculiar politic conjuncture, whose determination had made impracticable the continuity of the Radio Sociedade in the molds determined for its precursors, which were: educative diffusion. The radio was donated to the Federal Government in the year of 1936, receiving a new name Radio Ministerio of Education.

O jardim de si: paisagens líricas de Claudia Roquette-Pinto / The self garden: Lyric landscapes of Claudia Roquette-Pinto

Guizzo, Antonio Rediver 18 February 2014 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2017-07-10T18:55:35Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Antonio Guizzo.pdf: 1582188 bytes, checksum: 27681cd71a75eb357b0fdac9d739c1e3 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-02-18 / The current research focused on reflections and analysis about Claudia Roquette-Pinto lyric, from the purpose that the work of art is composed by four dimensions, the writer, society, work and imaginary, engendered on a dialogue in which synthesis does not exist, but a complementary relation, an indissoluble junction of opposites. Using this perspective, this search scrutinize the writer s lyric, composed on a border zone between modern economic social order saturation, guided by the planned utilization of the resources and by nature domination, and the post-modern insurgency of an ecological order, that privileges the actual fruition of this resources. From this dualism, we delineate, as a general objective, to comprehend how the constitutive dimensions of the work of art guide and establish senses on the writer poetic work. In order to achieve the proposed objective, the research was sustained by theoretician purposes of Gilbert Durand figurative structuralism, and its unfoldings on Jean Burgos and Maria Thereza de Queiroz Guimarães Strongoli assertions; on body, society and alterity relation, investigated by Michel Maffesoli and Zygmunt Bauman; by Bakhtin and Edward Wilson questions about language and consciousness, also on subjectivity and literary work of Dominique Combe, Paul Ricoeur, Alfredo Bosi, Antonio Candido e Theodor Adorno. This research, thus, uses the bibliography method, by a perspective that dialogues with phenomenology, sociobiology and figurative structuralism, also taking into consideration some hermeneutical considerations, discipline that analyzed the lyric of Claudia Roquette-Pinto, contemporary poet. As a result of this investigation process, we intend to conciliate the resulting analysis of the four constitutive dimensions of the work of art, using the complementary principle (not excluding coexistence of the opposites), not searching a totalizing synthesis of the perceptions derived from the writer poetic, but the description of plural senses emanated of a poetic making that creates itself in an historical moment when different social orders coexist and multiple communities are established by an esthetics ethics / A pesquisa ora apresentada focalizou-se em reflexões e análises sobre a lírica de Claudia Roquette-Pinto, partindo do pressuposto de que a obra artística é constituída por quatro dimensões, autor, sociedade, obra e imaginário, que se engendram em um diálogo no qual não há síntese, mas uma relação de completariedade, de união indissolúvel de contrários.

Education and culture on the brazilian radio: Roquette-Pinto radioschool conceptions.

Gilioli, Renato de Sousa Porto 12 May 2008 (has links)
This research studies the first systematic experience of radio as an educational technology in Brazil: the Municipal Radio School of Rio de Janeiro (PRD-5), which started its activities in 1934. The enterprise was conceived by Edgard Roquette-Pinto about middle-1920\'s, when debate about the use of educational technologies have been strengenthened with reforms in educational systems of many Brazilian States. Roquette-Pinto used his medical formation, his solid career as an anthropologist of the National Museum (MN), and his involvement with the official start of the Brazilian radio to make a \"diagnosis\" of national problems, mainly inspired on the anthropological 1910\'s-20\'s Brazilian mixing of races debate. Based on that, he proposed education as a \"medicine\" to solve the Brazilian problems. His link with the Brazilian Association of Education (ABE) lead him to present radio as a mean to educate those who didn\'t have access to schools. His objective was to \"Brazilianize\" the brasilianos, bringing the \"underdeveloped\" sertanejo (wilderness inhabitant) to a presumed most advanced level of \"civilization\". His Nation-building proposal implied in a conservative modernization project, which would be lead by the intellectuals as an avant-garde capable of shaping the \"amorph masses\" and of conducting the political class to assure the national development. His experience on Radio Society of Rio de Janeiro (PRA-2), first officially recognized Brazilian radio station (1923), privileged the diffusion of erudite culture - under an imposing and dirigist way - at the moment in which \"industrial culture\" was flowering. The eruditism, a distinctive face of Roquette\'s radio diffusion idea, intended to spread the intellectual knowledge among the radio listeners, focusing on natural sciences, languages and arts. This educational and cultural field of radio diffusion was opposed to the commercial one, based on free-market functioning, what meant dependency of sponsorship and audience. The commercial field of radio diffusion became hegemonic since earlier 1930\'s in Brazil, forcing the educational and cultural one to promote efforts to conquer institutional spaces, governmental support, and listeners to the cultural standard to be spread. One of these institutional spaces was PRD-5, thought precisely as a radio school station. Some components of PRA-2 experience was adopted on the Municipal Radio School, but the station had some particularities as focus on children listeners (conducting radio classes to primary schools), on teachers, and on adult education. PRD-5 was installed on Institute of Education of Rio de Janeiro (IERJ) and its destiny was to become the radio of University of Federal District (UDF), assuming extension role. The study of Roquette-Pinto radio school project, from planning to practice, observes the biographical path which lead him to structure his thinking and his conversion from anthropology to education. The Roquette\'s experience in Radio Society - in which general culture, and not the schooling, was predominant - was analyzed as an extensive laboratory able to supply standards and questionings to shape the radio school project. The approaching of these aspects and the developing of documental research made possible to identify persisting ideas related to the use of mass media in schools since that time until nowadays.

This dissertation deals with the history of physical anthropology and discussions about race and nation at the beginning of the twentieth century, focusing on the anthropological studies carried out by the doctor and anthropologist Edgard Roquette-Pinto. As a scientist linked to the National Museum between 1905 and 1935, he dedicated his trajectory to researching the anthropology and ethnography of Brazil, through which he sought not only to describe the formative racial characteristics of the country, but also to valuate the biological feasibility, psychological character and social conditions of the population. By linking Roquette-Pinto’s nationalist activism, his public actions and his dialogue with the anthropological thought of the time, the aim of the dissertation is to analyze the relations between anthropology, nation and politics, emphasizing the national and international frontiers involved in the debate. As it will be demonstrated, Roquette-Pinto’s anthropology was based both on a national context and Brazilian intellectual and scientific concerns, and the international debate on race and populations. On the one hand, the dissertation analyzes the interlocution and the controversies between the anthropologist and Brazilian writers, such as Euclides da Cunha, Manoel Bomfim, Oliveira Vianna, Renato Kehl and Gilberto Freyre, seeking to understand how controversies about racial miscegenation, immigration and the settlement of Brazil were central to the construction of interpretations, diagnostics and projects of national reform. On the other, it is also shown how his anthropological writing was constructed in dialogue with physical anthropologists, historians and foreign eugenists, mostly German and American, including Charles Davenport, Madison Grant, Eugen Fischer, Rüdiger Bilden and Franz Boas. One of the arguments defended in this dissertation is that the anthropology of Roquette-Pinto becomes more intelligible when analyzing the international debate involving anthropological studies and intellectual networks. The dissertation is a contribution both for the history of anthropology in Brazil and for the history of the circulation of ideas about race, national identity and population in an international context.

The use of biofumigation crops as an alternative to Methyl Bromide for the management of the root-knot nematode in greenhouse cucumber production

Haroutunian, Garabed 25 March 2013 (has links)
In the past, soil fumigation ‎with methyl bromide has been considered as ‎the best control measure against root-knot ‎nematodes. However, in the light of the global phase out of methyl bromide, finding ‎efficient and viable alternatives is an essential necessity.‎The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of the two biofumigation ‎crops ‎Oil Radish (Raphanus sativus oleifera) and Arugula (Eruca vesicaria sativa) applied ‎with ‎and without plastic tarp, separately and in combination with Oxamyl in the ‎management of ‎the root-knot nematodes in greenhouse cucumber crops. Additionally, this ‎study aimed at ‎assessing the financial feasibility of the biofumigation technique with the ‎two cops used ‎and the final profitability of these green manure crops in terms of cost to ‎benefit ratio as ‎compared to methyl bromide.‎For this purpose, three field experiments were carried out in ‎commercial ‎greenhouses situated on the coastal zone of Lebanon.‎In both experiments A & B consistent results were recorded in terms of production ‎of ‎significantly higher yields and reduction of nematode population with the ‎biofumigation ‎crops used whether with or without plastic cover, as compared to untreated ‎fallow.‎As to the results achieved by the biofumigation crops with respect to methyl ‎bromide, ‎in experiment A yield produced by methyl bromide was significantly higher than ‎oil radish ‎with plastic cover. However, no significant difference was found between ‎reduction of ‎nematode population resulting from methyl bromide and oil radish with plastic ‎cover. ‎Difference was significant between methyl bromide and oil radish without plastic ‎cover in ‎both yield and reduction of nematodes.‎In experiment B no significant difference was observed in neither yield nor ‎reduction ‎of nematode population between any of the two biofumigation crops used with ‎plastic ‎cover and methyl bromide. These differences were significantly in favor of methyl ‎bromide ‎only when oil radish was used without plastic cover.‎In experiment C where Vydate (Oxamyl) was incorporated at the rate of 1 liter ‎per ‎‎1,000 m2 to all treatments, there was no significant difference in neither yield nor ‎reduction ‎of nematode population between any of the two biofumigation crops used with or ‎without ‎plastic cover.‎Cost-benefit analysis made on all treatments applied in the 3 experiments ‎showed ‎that in all cases, all treatments applied, whether chemical, non-chemical (with or ‎without ‎plastic cover) or in combination have produced higher net profits than methyl ‎bromide, ‎even when yield produced by methyl bromide was significantly higher.‎Use of plastic for covering oil radish has generally produced ‎better results in terms ‎of ‎production of higher yields, better reduction of soil ‎populations of root-knot nematodes‏‎ ‎and ‎‏leading to ‎‏reasonable increases of net profits.‎Based on these findings and in the light of global phase out of methyl bromide, ‎it ‎can be concluded that the use of oil radish and arugula as biofumigation crops with ‎plastic ‎cover can be considered as ‎an alternative management tool for the root-knot ‎nematode in ‎greenhouse cucumber ‎production under Lebanese conditions.‎
