Previous issue date: 2012-03-05 / Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos / The most recent process of productive restructuration of Alagoas´ sugarcane agro industry initiated in the 1990 modified profoundly the criterions of workers selections, the labor organization and its way of management. Those changes, which affect directly the workers, resulted in the intensification of the work rhythm, elevation of its productivity and decrease of job numbers. In the core of those configurations in the relationship between capital and work, the purpose of the present dissertation is to analyze how the exploration-domination of the labor force is processed and ways of resistance constituted by the sugarcane worker in Alagoas. To achieve this purpose, were realized field research and interview with sugarcane cutters, formers sugar mill residents, unemployed workers, brail operator, bituqueiros , cabos (inspectors) and leaders of rural labor union. The interviews were leaded by the oral history methodology. The municipal district of Teotônio Vilela was the empiric universe privileged, though it concentrates a large number of workers employed in many sugar factories in the south of Alagoas.

Previous issue date: 2016-03-10 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) / This thesis aims to study the working conditions in the sugarcane agribusiness in Alagoas
and its effects on workers' health. The issue studied was the analysis of working
conditions and health in the face the current situation of sugarcane agribusiness in
Alagoas: characterized by productive restructuring and the intensification of work in
manual cutting of sugarcane. The increased effort required in this labor activity produces
besides the physical, moral and psychological distress. . This thesis is justified to the
extent that it aims to complete at least two gaps with regard to health approach to rural
workers: the absence of research focusing on the physical health of workers articulated
the moral and psychological distress; and the absence of studies on the cane fields of
Alagoas that communicate substantially with the research undertaken in the cane fields
of Sao Paulo. The main objective of this research was to contribute to the reflections on
the causal connection between illness and the cane cutting job. To achieve this scope,
field research and interviews were carried out with cane cutters, mill former residents,
unemployed because of illness, cable (surpervisor), plant manager, medical, among other
key informants; furthermore it was performed exercise testing, monitoring heart rate
during labor, application Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire and physical evaluation
- procedures performed with the collaboration of doctors and fitness trainers -. The
interviews were conducted by the methodology of oral history. The municipality of
Teotonio Vilela was the privileged empirical universe by concentrating a large number
of workers employed in various plants in the south of Alagoas. The data collected indicate
existence of direct relationship between work in the cane fields and the early exhaustion
of physical and spiritual energies of workers.
O aumento do esforço exigido nessa
atividade laboral produz, além do sofrimento físico, o sofrimento moral e psíquico. A

Previous issue date: 2016-06-29 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq) / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) / This thesis aims to analyze the contradictions present in the cultivation of flowers,
highlighting the life experiences of men and women working in the fields and
greenhouses of flowers in the region of Holambra, São Paulo, Brazil. The theoretical
references are the studies on rural wage and on the globalized intensive agricultural. The
field research was conducted in four cities: Artur Nogueira, Holambra, Mogi Mirim and
Santo Antônio de Posse. The narratives were collected through conversations and
interviews at workers home. The methodology used was the Oral History, which allowed
us to view the work in addition to the data brought by the official statistics, trying to break
with the analyzes that polarize the productive and reproductive spaces, and naturalize the
female skills. The research has allowed us to verify the existence of a variety of settings
that make the work morphology in growing flowers - this diversity relates to the size of
the properties and greenhouses, forms of employment (family labor, wage, unregistered
work), and the place of residence of workers (rural districts, urban districts, producing
colonies of flowers). People interviewed related that the working hours are intensified to
fulfill the demands, there is exposure to pesticides and thorns of flowers, and carrying out
the activity in the greenhouses and fields is often strenuous, which makes some people
use medicines to face the workload. Finally, we present a discussion on ways of
estrangement and the possibilities of creating emotional bonds with the plants, which
causes the activity to be evaluated positively by workers.
A metodologia utilizada

Between work and school: A study on adolescents who study and work, children of rural migrant workers residing in the city of Guariba / SP.Edinalva Santana 28 May 2015 (has links)
In Brazil there is a significant number of adolescents who study and work. The practice of inadequate labor activities by adolescents jeopardizes their chances of successfully reconcile study and work and the development of opportunities and full learning. This study aimed to investigate how adolescents, children of migrant workers, were being included in the labor market and reconciled study and work activities. Therefore were study subjects teenagers who studied and worked, residents of a suburban neighborhood in the city of Guariba / SP, markedly inhabited by peasants who migrated from poorer regions of the country to work in the sugar cane fields of the region. The research, a qualitative one, had the recorded interview as the main technique of data collection. 30 interviews were conducted with adolescent workers of both gender, aged between 14 and 18 years incomplete, students of schools \"State School Professor Josephine de Camargo Neves\" and \"Municipal Preparatory High School Teacher Izabel Sadalla Crispino\", located on the outskirts Guariba. There were also interviews with municipal professionals who could help us on understanding the aspects involving our goals. According to the obtained data, it was possible to detect that these teenagers were being inserted in the labor market in prohibited activities, demonstrating the helplessness regarding the application of Brazilian law; while performing activities that competed against physical, mental health and adolescent morals. Most adolescents in this research worked without any formal employment contracts and reported workplace accidents, work overload and difficulties regarding the reconcile between school and work. Thus, the situation found among these adolescents can be configured as an obstacle to the overcome of poverty history and exploration of their parents - migrant highly exploited by the dynamics of the current capitalist mode of production.

Previous issue date: 2013-05-09 / This thesis approached a relatively complex phenomenon that is still observed in
the Brazilian society: the existence of slave labor and forced labor, both in rural
and urban areas. The main objective was to bring elements trying to show the
conceptual differences between both, as well as to propose subsidies to eradicate
these conditions, despite of conceptual aspects, wrong treatment even in the
public sphere -, ideological positions or even lack of clarity in the definition of each
of these concepts. Seeking to achieve this goal, this thesis is structured as follows:
it began with a historical review of slave labor in Brazil and worldwide; then, it
described what has happened on the international scene in terms of slave labor
and forced labor; after that, it included features of both, considering their
differences nowadays and highlighting the importance of the fundamental rights in
the understanding of this differentiation. In order to deep this discussion, this work
brought up the case of Bolivian immigrants in São Paulo, where it seems difficult
to say exactly what it is: forced labor or slave labor? Then became involved in the
revision of Brazilian legislation about the subject, showed the position of the
leading Brazilian institutions involved in the solution of the exploitation of human
labor, after revealing the extent of this problem in the Brazilian case. Finally, based
on this material, realized several of recommendations, suggestions and subsidies
to expand and improve the fight against forced labor and slave labor in Brazil,
whether in rural or urban areas. Among these, are stand out: the discipline of
terminology and standard of sentences in the sphere of the labor court; the
complement of the PEC in terms of clarity about what is slave labor, using the
concept of Decent Work for easier differentiation of terms; setting up
recommendations to make clear and consensual what is slave labor and forced
labor. The final conclusions bring the key messages that emerged from the
development of the thesis: persisting on the fight against the exploitation of human
labor in all its forms; taking out the ideological character of the discussion;
regulating the outsourcing; the need of clearly identify the phenomenon: criminal
problem or circumventing the labor laws?; understand them as an economic
phenomenon, indicating the need of prevention and not just combat, and the
absolute necessity of a clear concept of what the slave labor is / sociedade brasileira: a ocorrência de trabalho escravo e de trabalho forçado, tanto
As conclusões finais trazem as principais mensagens extraídas do
escravo
