Généalogie et famille insulaire : les unions mixtes et leurs descendants sur l’île de San Andrés, caraïbe colombienne / Genealogy and island families : mixed relationships and their descendants on San Andrés island, Colombian Caribbean

González Delgadillo, Gabriel Gilberto 10 June 2015 (has links)
In recent years, much attention has been paid to the Colombian island of San Andrés, focusing primarily on demographic problems and the defensive posture displayed by some of the island’s residents regarding central government policies. This posturing manifests itself through ethnic and cultural identity claims and a desire for political autonomy, which are legitimated by the 1991 Constitution. However, blindsided by the idea of a political conflict, the research done on San Andrés often omits a key aspect of life on the island: the social relationships that link its inhabitants to one another. This research aims to shed a new light on the ethnohistory and memory as well as the social and genealogical relationships that shape San Andrés’s present day society. From a genealogical point of view based in kinship studies and a thorough understanding of this society’s social, cultural and religious organization, this study’s objective is to identify the role and importance of mixed relationships and their descendants on San Andrés’s society today.

New data about the synagogue of Bova Marina in the context of the Jewish archeology of Calabria in late antiquity

Tromba, Enrico 08 September 2015 (has links)
The research aims to reconsider and analyze the situation of the archaeological site of San Pasquale of Bova Marina (RC). The site, discovered in 1983, was the subject of archaeological investigations since 1985 and brought to light structures of great importance, among which is a building identified as a Jewish synagogue and dated to the fourth century of our era. Along with the Jewish structure, were brought to light other buildings and two burial areas. Until now, the life of the synagogue had been dated from the fourth to the sixth century of our era and burial areas were put in phase with it. Through this research, carried out on documents and through a series of archaeological excavations, we have shown that the life of the synagogue does not go beyond the middle of the fifth century and the two cemeteries are not connected to it. We also reconstruct more accurately the various phases of Jewish building life and their development. Fundamental point were the three-dimensional reconstructions of the mosaic floor of the classroom and of the hall of the prayer. We also found profound differences with the other synagogue discovered in Italy, at Ostia, while we found important points of contact with the synagogues of the Land of Israel, in particular those of the valley of Beth She'an. The site of S. Pasquale of Bova marina, then, saw a Jewish attendance from the fourth century to the middle of the fifth when the area continued to be used primarily as a burial area and then stop any type of attendance in the seventh century, as other sites places on the Ionian coast of Calabria.

Among some of its main features, we can highlight the promulgation of the 1946 Constitution, important reforms in the electoral legislation on the issue of political participation, the formation of a broad party-political agenda and other factors that reinforce the importance of the conjectural complexity of the period. In this sense, related to the fragility of the political institution scenario, this Master thesis aims to analyze and understand the Brazilian political situation of this the brief democratic period. This analysis will be based on the interpretation of Francisco Clementino de San Tiago Dantas (1911-1964) in the column ?V?rias Not?cias?, published in the ?Jornal do Commercio? between the years 1957-1959. The triumphal arch motif in Sant'Andrea, Mantua: Respondeo and rhetoric in Alberti's architecture and theory

Carrer, Tomaso, School of Architecture, UNSW January 2007 (has links)
Leon Battista Alberti's church of Sant' Andrea in Mantua has been closely studied by many Renaissance scholars in relation to its layout, dimensions, proportions, chronology, style and aesthetics, as well as earning its place in both Alberti's corpus and the sweep of Renaissance architecture. The thesis investigates how eloquence is embodied in the sequential repetition of the triumphal arch motif between inside and outside. This thesis it is based on extensive and critical review of historical and theoretical literature. It marks a close examination of Sant?Andrea and to lesser extent San Francesco in Rimini, revisiting key ideas, texts and words. The principal finding of the thesis is that Alberti?s concept of respondeo, as developed in De Re Aedificatoria is the key to understanding the triumphal arch motif and its repetition in the interior. The thesis also comprehensively outlines the variety of contexts in which repondeo can be understood. This term, correlated to the passing of time and to rhetorical-based Albertian terms as decorum and convenio, means a 'sensitive suitability' between parts. The analysis of the triumphal arch motif of Sant?Andrea suggests that formalism has played a more important role in Alberti's design for this church than previously believed. This is by the motif's rigorous outline changing between the interior nave and the exterior fa??ade according to the observer's different visual perceptions. The rhetorical structure of the triumphal arch, in the way that it moves became from two to three dimensions in the fa??ade, seeks familiarity with the city's surrounding environment to establish simultaneity of actions. In this way, by joining the historical-religious point of references to a strategy of perception, the triumphal arch achieves public consensus. This rhetorical program is addressed especially by the patron of the church of Sant' Andrea Ludovico Gonzaga II also the ruler of Mantua with popular aspects of his public representations.
