An Integration Study of Quality Management System and Performance Management System On TFT LCD IndustryHuang, Li-Yuan 09 June 2005 (has links)
After the ISO9000 series of quality management standards was released by the International Organization of Standard, certificate of ISO9001¡G1994 was deemed by enterprises as a guarantee for performance improvement. Ironically, not until recently is the implementation of ISO9001: 2000 substantially depreciated and suspected as an obstacle to efficient operation.
Since the certificate of ISO9001 still represents the passport to be a candidate in international trade, enterprises bear to implement ISO9001 even under the circumstance that they do not understand the value of ISO9001. This not only violates the basic requirements of ISO9001: 2000 but also leads to employee¡¦s careless attitude about the practice.
The prevalence of different evaluation tools such as Key Performance Index (KPI), Management By Objectives (MBO) and etc. tells the story that enterprise nowadays puts performance before anything. However, most enterprises fail to integrate the similar concepts behind evaluation indexes and ISO like quality goal, quality review, human resource, and process management and treat each index as an independent system. This has caused enterprises serious waste and cost. Also, there is always lacked an objective evaluation method between human resource development and performance management.
Enterprise performance management system is often criticized for its isolation from the real competitive environment and helplessness in staff encouragement or efficiency improvement. The fact that the current quality system and performance management system cannot reflect customer¡¦s voice, the main source of profit improvement, undermines the benefits of system implementation and is against the expectation of persistent development.
Through in-depth interview, this study specifies how enterprises in LCD industry implement performance evaluation and ISO9001: 2000 and clarify the correlation between these internal systems and the disconnection occurred. Based on bibliography and theory study, then conduct to an integrated operation system that has two major parts, including mixed-construction and process management. The process oriented management flow could easy to connect the performance evaluation gap between enterprise and customer concern. The mixed-construction could meet the performance evaluation request of LCD industry which is customers¡¦ satisfaction¡Bspeed and competence. Through this kind of operation system, enterprise could easy to put customer concern in the enterprise internal system and also could achieve a closed loop of continuous improvement. That is also called as system synergy.
In enterprises operation, cost reduction stands as important as profit seeking. The concept of integration of performance management system and ISO9001¡G2000 quality management system indicated in this research provides a way to meet the targets of performance and cost while promoting employee satisfaction, enterprise competitiveness and customer satisfaction.

Cultural Centers in the Knowledge Age : The Impact of Digital Presence on the Success of Cultural Centers in GermanyRukat, Agata, Böhm, Rasah January 2010 (has links)

This study investigates the digital presence of cultural centers in three regions of Germany taking into account the theoretical framework of knowledge age. In order to find out if the adaption of online tools has a positive influence on visitor reach, i.e. on the success of the centers, the thesis attempts to gather information on online tool usage of individual institutions via questionnaires. Taking into consideration the overall context three factors referring to traditional economic concepts namely industry Size, institutions size and program diversity are proposed as additional success factors. The research results indicate that digital presence, together with the other measured factors, have a positive impact on the success of the centers. Moreover, the cultural infrastructure appears to have a direct positive impact on the industry size and, consequently, an indirect impact on the success of cultural centers.

Merger & Acquisition : Avoiding the path of decayGot, Elisa, Sanz, Fabrice January 2002 (has links)

Background : Globalisation has led company to think globally and act locally. Such a change in the business world have made emerge the need to find partner around the world, and even to merge with complementary companies in order to sustain the corporate strategic advantage and to create value.

Purpose : The objective of this paper is to integrate major Merger & Acquisitions theories in order to establish a warning model pointing out the main pitfalls changing promising motivations into failed implementation in the process of Merger & Acquisition. Such a model will aim at preventing managers engaged in a transnational horizontal merger from the potential hazards leading to value destruction.

Delimitations : We choose to focus on the transnational merger because it should play with different national management and with the consequent variance in cultural distance ; the human and social context appears more clearly as fundamentally variable when a merger involves different sensibilities.

Results : After having integrated the main theoretical finding into a holistic framework which enabled us to shape a warning model we tested successfully in case of Pharmacia-Upjohn merger, which aims at analysing the general risks of one strategic merger or/and the following implementation process.

Integrated Marketing Communications : A quantitative study of the perceptions of integrated marketing communications in the Swedish marketKreidly, Fikrie, Aden, Abdikadar, Tvrtkovic, Adnan January 2014 (has links)
When planning to implement a marketing tool such as Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) into ones company, marketers need to know what IMC means or is perceived to be in their environment. The definition of IMC is shown in the background chapter of this study and more definitions are stated in the theoretical frame chapter as well. Months of research lead to the conduction of a study, that is to test the perception of IMC in the Swedish market by sampling and sending questionnaires to Swedish marketers. Five Hypotheses were formed to test if each factor has a positive or negative relation with IMC. A questionnaire was formulated that tested all of the five main success factors (customer focus, targeted communication, customer-brand relationship, synergy and communication channels) in relation to IMC and how the Swedish marketers perceived each one of the factor’s connection to IMC. The marketers were chosen due to the fact that they would know most about IMC since it’s within the field of marketing. It was found that Swedish marketers support 2 out of the 5 hypotheses. This means that the results showed that Swedish marketers perceive that there is a positive relationship between both channels of communication and IMC, and customer brand relationship and IMC, while targeted communication, customer focus and synergy were denied to be as positively related to IMC. This study would be of great help to a Swedish company trying to implement IMC because it gives directions to the Swedish perception of it, thereby making it more clear to know exactly what they are implementing, which help them find out in what way they should implement IMC, in order to avoid failures that could be very expensive.

Quantifying synergy value in mergers and acquisitionsDe Graaf, Albert 06 1900 (has links)
Mergers and acquisitions have been demonstrated to create synergies, but not in all cases.
Current research reveals that where synergies exist, these seem to accrue to the shareholders
of the selling companies. Given the limitations of our qualitative research design, we find that it
is important to quantify synergy before the acquisition, preferably by applying certain best
practices. In an attempt to enhance understanding of the phenomenon, we find that several
types of synergy exist and that their origins include efficiencies, such as economies of scale
and economies in innovative activity. We further find that the bid price is an important indicator
of success and that its maximum should not exceed the intrinsic value of the target, plus the
value of synergies between the bidder and target. We further find that best practices exist in
quantifying cost and revenue synergies and describe these separately per origin. / Management Accounting / M.Com. (Accounting)

Previous issue date: 2006-12-04 / This study investigates the elements of the soteriology of John Wesley and its dynamic aspects. Instead of favoring a specific period of the life of John Wesley, the theological biography of John Wesley is developed based on the concept of the sedimentation of experience. In this manner, the theologia viatorum of John Wesley is developed with a focus on its transverse elements and their unfolding in terms of communitarian, synergetic and public aspects. According to the thesis, the theologia viatorum of John Wesley gains depth and vitality with its growing and conscious learning from and commitment to the English people, and, in special,
with the poor of England. Accompanied by a careful self-analysis, Wesley begins offers an analysis of the diverse soteriologies of his day, which are marked by a slow transition between the Medieval era and modernity. There arises a reconstruction characteristic of soteriology, currently called social soteriology. We understand this social soteriology as a pivotal point in the theology of John Wesley, which manifests itself in a typical soteriological anthropology, Christology, pneumatology, eschatology and ecclesiology. The communitarian, synergetic and public aspects of this social soteriology are seen and developed by Wesley based
on his own experience and life with the people, their dynamics, their culture, their needs and their competencies. Such aspects lead, step by step, toward a praxis that begins to contemplate the interconnections between the reform of the Church, the nation and the transformation of persons. This movement is co- motivated by an utopist soteriological horizon that foresees the continuation of the theologia viatorum until the transformation of the entire cosmos. This social soteriology appears as a web that closely accompanies the socio-economic and religious topography of the its time, and seeks paths to overcome impasses, despair, and irresponsibility in relation to the poor.(AU) / Este estudo investiga os elementos da soteriologia de John Wesley e seus aspectos dinamizantes.

Domestic honeybees are suffering from unprecedented colony losses, which could at term have a strong economic impact, considering their part in crop pollination, notably. These losses are defined as caused by multifactorial stresses. However, the impact of these stresses is usually measured separately, on individuals or colonies. Colonies are known to concentrate pesticides from their environment through collection of pollen and nectar, but they also concentrate pathogens. The study of a co-exposure between thiamethoxam, a neonicotinoid insecticide, and two honeybee viruses, DWV and CBPV, has shed light on the existence of interactions between each of these viruses and the pesticide. Different virus transmission methods have been tested to be as close as natural conditions, and a repeatable CBPV transmission method through contact has been developed. Metabolisation kinetics of thiamethoxam have been obtained for the first time, underlining the strong probability for excretion of the metabolite in natural conditions. During caged experiments, the co-exposure experiments between thiamethoxam at high chronic doses and CBPV cause synergistic mortalities, or an increase in viral loads which reached the number of viral copies threshold associated with clinical signs in bees. The varying results between bees from colonies kept in different conditions underlined a stress tolerance effect yet to be studied in the honeybee. In parallel, co-exposure in colonies between sublethal doses of thiamethoxam and DWV caused extremely precocious first foraging trips in bees, as well as large proportions of bees never returning to the hive after their firs exit, which both could in the end have a devastating effect on the colonies. The study of gene transcripts suggests that the obtained effects on CBPV viral loads could be due to a negative effect of thiamethoxam on dorsal-1a, an immune factor, and the precocious trips to a significant down-regulation of vitellogenin, which takes part in honeybee aging, cause by DWV. The development of molecular clones of DWV and a DWV recombinant was initiated, which will in the future allow for reverse genetics studies on this virus, which will help explain their transmission and infection mechanisms that are still unknown to this day.

The development of energy policies is an issue that involves aspects of different nature
and is related to a large context. The introduction of sustainability as a goal to be achieved to
maintain the energy supply and to allow the economic and social development of a country
increases the complexity of the decisions to be made. Energy Efficiency and Renewable
Energy are two essential aspects for building a sustainable energy policy. This work proposes
the use of multicriteria methods to address two relevant political energy problems: the
sustainable energy policies portfolio selection and the subproblem of selecting alternative
energy sources to be included in an energy matrix. Regarding the portfolio problem, synergies
consideration is an important issue and its analysis allowed proposing a model for the
elicitation of such values. The synergies elicitation is a task highly dependent on the set of
alternatives considered and on the perception of the experts interviewed. The model
developed enables to elicit synergies among pairs of alternatives, without requiring that these
values are separated in the contribution of each alternative to another. Compared to the
individual synergy model the proposed model requires less information from the expert,
which makes the elicitation questionnaire less exhaustive.
