Channel Partner - Atlas Copco : Increasing the engagement of the different players in the sales channel

Strömsholm, Lovisa, Wu, Karin January 2015 (has links)
The Atlas Copco group is an industrial group of companies that are making sales with customers located all around the world. This thesis is done at the ACTA-GI division (Atlas Copco Tools and Assembly Systems GI Division), where the sales process stretches through four main players; the Atlas Copco headquarter in Stockholm, local customer centers, distributors and end customers.   When having several different players in the sales process, the communication between these may sometimes be deficient. When news and information from the headquarter is released, it has to travel through several instances before reaching the distributors or the end customers. This leads to a deficient flow of communication where information is often delayed or misinterpreted before reaching its target. The purpose of this master thesis is to investigate how ACTA-GI can improve the flow of information in the sales channel and to develop a plan of action for increasing the engagement of the distribution partners by developing an online distributor portal. In order to investigate the best ways of handling distribution partners, this study contains both qualitative and quantitative research methods. The study contain a theory review on distribution and communication strategies, an analysis of the existing sales channels and current markets, an analysis of the content of the online portal, and a benchmarking study with a similar industrial company. The result is a plan of action for industry best practice and proposals for improvement areas.

The purpose of this Master’s thesis is to present to the reader a comprehensive overview on how the characteristics of grocery products and apparel products influence the customer behavior and the choice of an offline or an online sales channel within an omnichannel marketing strategy. This thesis takes a company’s point of view in order to investigate the reactions and the resulting marketing and channel strategies the different retailers apply while taking into account the varying customer behavior. In order to fulfill this purpose, we formulated and presented two research questions and three propositions that helped to investigate the chosen subject matter of this thesis. The research philosophy of this Master’s thesis is based on an interpretivist epistemological perspective and a subjectivist ontological view. The research conducted within this thesis has an exploratory nature. In addition, the deductive approach is used to study the research questions, while adopting a qualitative research method. The practical method employed in this thesis in order to fulfill the purpose is based on conducting multiple semi-structured, non-standardized interviews. The respondents and the companies they represent are divided according to the industry they belong to, namely the apparel retail or the grocery retail, and the geographically located in Europe. The final results are then gained by the combination of the primary data, yield from the interviews, and secondary data, collected during a literature search and an undertaken literature review. They provide an overview on how do the characteristics of products influence the customer behavior and the choice of an offline or an online sales channel within an omnichannel marketing strategy while focusing on apparel and grocery retailers in Europe. In addition, the findings also provide an overview on how the apparel and grocery retailers react on the varying behavior of their customers and based on this, what marketing and sales strategies they employ.

中國行銷通路策略創新之研究—以T家具公司為例 / The Innovation of Sales Channel Strategy in ChinaA-Case Study T Furnishing Company

任惠蓮, agogo Unknown Date (has links)
In last decade, China's economy kept growing at top speed. The booming stock market, while bringing the enormous opportunity for the Chinese capital market development, has driven the development of relevant industries too. The effect on furniture business is absolutely apparent. On one hand, the bullish stock market has brought high returns to stock holders, while raising the purchasing power of potential consumers. On the other hand, the development of capital market has offered the convenience to financing in furniture business too. However, the homogeneity and zero-sum game of marketing strategy in furniture business is serious enough to be a catastrophe to everyone concerned. In order to approach potential customers, the furniture factories must all rely on several sales channels of high market share to run their own shops inside. Furniture factories usually have their own distributors to promote their sales, or run their own shops. If there is information asymmetry between the furniture factories and sales channels, the furniture factories will encounter the possibility of the loss of shop presence and brand damage. In recent years, Carrefour, RT-Mart, and Wal-Mart develop their own sales channels in China at high speed in order to share the millions of dollars market. How to take advantage of the above-mentioned sales channels and leverage their own resources and core competence to create innovative sales channels, while offering higher value for the customers and getting rid of the cruel Red Sea competition is a challenge to the furniture factories and every participant concerned nowadays. This text takes furniture factory T Company as an example, through comprehensive and systematic marketing strategy analysis, and researches on T Company’s traditional sales channels and new sales channels within retailing chains, to explore a set of sales channels innovation model which is suitable for the Chinese market. This research consists of six chapters. Chapter one which is an introduction part mainly focuses on the basis of the selected title and related definition, introduces relevant concepts, ways of thinking and method studied, and last but not least recommends the thesis structure and its possible innovation. Chapter two is literature review and comment. Representative figures, relevant fields of the thesis and their research results are reviewed on a chronological basis, including several following respects: Resource-Base Theory, Blue Ocean Strategy, and Innovation Theory. Chapter three is the development overview of Chinese retailing business and also analyzes the development of hypermarkets in China emphatically in order to illustrate the background and motive for sales channels innovation. In Chapter four, this research analyzes existing models of sales channels and its characteristics of Chinese furniture business comprehensively. Chapter five takes T Company as an example and further elaborates its strategy and operation on the innovation of sales channels construction. Chapter six is the conclusion and follow-up study suggestion.
