Análisis de la autopercepción en gemelos idénticos entre 22 y 26 años de Lima, Perú / Analysis of self – perception in a group of identical twins between 22 and 26 years old from Lima, PeruCassana Abad, Carla Estefanía 13 November 2019 (has links)
The main purpose of this investigation is to describe the characteristics of self-perception in a group of identical twins between 22 and 26 years old. To achieve this goal, nine pairs of twins were assessed with the Rorschach Test, using Exner’s Comprehensive System. The twins were divided into two groups, the older twins formed the study group and the younger twins formed the comparative group. To compare groups, descriptive statistical analysis, as well, as the U of Mann Whitney were used as main statistical analysis. Results reflect significant differences only in the following variables: Morbid Content (MOR), Human Detail (Hd) and Coping Deficit Index (CDI). Also, all the twins who were assessed showed a healthy self-perception. / Tesis

Situational Self-Image: A Symbolic Interactionism Approach to Brand-Image/Self-Image CongruencyHildebrand, Peggy Shields 05 1900 (has links)
The situational self-image, which recognizes the affect of situational influences, particularly social roles, was the specific topic of investigation of this study. It has generally been hypothesized in marketing literature that consumers will purchase the brand with the image most congruent with the consumers' self-image. Symbolic Interactionism, a field of study in sociology, provides the theoretical foundations for the construct situational self-image. Realization of the relationship between the situational self-consciousness and involvement was also investigated.

Is Green brand image the saviour of consumers' well-being? : An exploration on how consumers' subjective well-being can be influenced by green brand image.Anderzén, Tim, Ramadan, Lia January 2023 (has links)
Background: Subjective-well being is an increasingly important concept within consumer research. Previous studies have thus far shown the capability of brand image and other types of image to influence separate components of subjective well-being, mainly life satisfaction, positive and negative affect. This phenomenon is relevant not least in terms of green branding, as environmentally sustainable behaviour has been shown to also influence certain components of subjective well-being. The study focuses on resolving a theoretical gap in which subjective well-being as a phenomenon with all three of its components has not yet been studied, while recognising the importance of subjective well-being for consumers. Purpose: The purpose of this research is to explore how consumers' subjective well-being can be influenced by a green brand image Method: In order to explore the field properly a qualitative nature was adopted. The qualitative material was thereafter gained through 16 semi structured interviews. To capture the essence of the empirical material the paper implemented a coding method inspired by grounded theory. The resulting categories and concepts were used in the analysis of the empirical material. Findings: The main findings brought forth by this study showcase that green brand image is able to positively influence subjective well-being, through its positive impact on life satisfaction and its components, as well as through eliciting positive affect while minimising negative affect within the context of engaging with brands that present a green image. These findings have both theoretical and practical implications further discussed. Conclusion: In concluding remarks this paper discovered that a green brand image could influence consumer Subjective well-being due to altruism and self-image.

Academic achievement factors in children with chronic illness: A report based on the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, from the Study of Early Child CareZadeh, Sheava T. 01 January 2010 (has links) (PDF)
The key question not addressed by the hierarchical model (Shavelson et al., 1976) is whether academic self-concept is reflected in relations with non-academic self-concept components (i.e. a between-network issue). The present study investigated the significance of physical self-concept, as a proposed mediator variable, to assess the relationship between anxiety/depression and school absence in children with chronic illness, which was hypothesized as Model A. Additionally, this research examined proposed mediator of absence in order to assess the relationship between physical self-concept and academic achievement, after controlling for academic self-concept, which was hypothesized as Model B. This study included participants from a comprehensive database of the Study of Early Child Care (SECC), by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). This study will examine the health status, psychosocial factors, attendance, and academic functioning of children in the sixth grade at the time of data collection. Findings, related to Model A, suggest that when children, regardless of whether or not they are chronically ill, experience higher degrees of anxiety/depression, they are more likely to report having higher levels of negative physical self-concept and higher levels of school absence. Findings for Model B suggested that once academic self-concept was controlled, physical self-concept, while statistically significant, accounted for little actual variance in the number of days a student was absent from school. This finding was true among all students as well as those who were not chronically ill . Specifically, this finding did not hold true for chronically ill students.

Befrielse eller begränsning - vuxna personers erfarenheter av att leva med stomi : En litteraturstudie / Liberation or limitation - adults' experiences of living with a stoma : A literary reviewHabari, Maya, Gottnersson, Sandra January 2022 (has links)
Background: Many people across the world need a stoma because of various diseases. Ostomy can signify a big change psychologically, physically, and socially. Nurses have an important role when it comes to support, but many feel their knowledge is inadequate. Aim: The aim of this study was to describe the experiences of adults living with a stoma. Methods: A literary review based on ten qualitative studies. Database research was conducted in PubMed and Cinahl. An analysis guide for qualitative literature reviews by Popenoe et al. was used for the analysis. Results: Three categories and seven subcategories emerged. Need of support describes how the nurse, loved ones and other ostomates affect the ability to adapt. A changed body describes how the stoma affects self-image and intimate relations. A new life situation describes how changed bodily function affects daily life, acceptance and finding meaning, and the economic impact ostomy can have. Conclusion: The stoma contributes to changes in body image and daily life. Support from the surroundings is meaningful, but as the stoma constitutes a change for the whole family more studies need to be conducted from the perspective of loved ones so the nurse can offer the right support.

”Osäkerheten har tärt påmig, och boxningen harvarit ett motgift” : Boxares upplevelser kring träningenspåverkan på självbild och välbefinnande / ”Insecurity has taken a toll on me, and boxing has been a remedy” : Boxers’ experiences regarding the training’s impact on self-image and well-beingSegerstedt, Rebecka January 2023 (has links)
Boxing has been practiced for thousands of years, yet there is still limited research on how boxing affectsmental health. The primary focus has been physical aspects such as either injuries or health benefits.Previous studies do however indicate that boxing could be beneficial for mental health as well, but dueto the lack of existing evidence further research is necessary. To create a better understanding of thesubject the aim of this study was to identify boxers’ experiences of how boxing affected their mentalhealth, with a primary focus on well-being and self-image. Furthermore, the aim was also to find outwhether the boxers considered the impact from boxing any different compared to other physical activity.Data were collected through seven semi-structured interviews with boxers that had at least three years’experience. The results showed that boxing could provide with higher self-esteem, self-confidence, andwell-being, and it was also shown that coaches and training partners had a certain impact. Though someof the participants gave the expression of sometimes being nervous or anxious before sparring, therewere indications that the sparring elements contributed to a stronger connection among the boxers dueto the vulnerability they share by stepping into a boxing ring. The biggest perceived difference betweenboxing and other sports seemed to be that several of the participants experienced boxing as moremeaningful in a sense that boxing contributed to self-development and not just overall well-being.

“Alla vet vad ADHD är, men ingen vet vad det innebär” : En intervjustudie om ADHD-diagnostiserade personers upplevelse av det ökade innehållet på sociala medier som påstår sig gestalta diagnosen.Sjöström, Antonia, Walter, Lydia January 2024 (has links)
In an increasingly mediatized society, there are only a few aspects of our lives that remain absent online. The purpose of this study was to gain an understanding of which role the mediatization of the discourse about ADHD has in the lifeworlds of individuals with the diagnosis. The aim was to comprehend how individuals diagnosed with ADHD experience content that claims to represent the diagnosis. The study adopted a phenomenological theoretical framework with a focus on the process of mediatization. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews using an interview guide and stimulus material. The results indicate that all participants perceive ADHD-related content on social media as generally portraying a misleading and unbalanced image of the diagnosis. They feel the depicted image is solely characterized by gender-stereotypical symptoms and excluding individuals who deviate from that description. Furthermore, the results show how the misleading portrayal directly affects participants negatively, making them feel diminished, ridiculed, and, in some cases, causing doubt about their own diagnosis. Nevertheless, participants share that there are positive aspects of the increased online presence of the diagnosis. Humorous depictions and recognition create a sense of community, reducing the feeling of being alone with their issues. In conclusion, it is evident that mediatization has played, and continues to play, a significant role in how individuals with ADHD perceive both their own experiences with the diagnosis and the diagnosis itself.

Brand Image and Self Image: A study on the semiotics behind Victoria’s Secret’s visual communication and its impact on its target audienceSalih, Dania January 2016 (has links)
This essay explores how a brand’s image affects consumers’ self-image through acase study of the lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret in order to reflect over the role ofgraphic designers as visual communicators in society. The study conducts a semioticanalysis of the brand and a qualitative research consisting of interviews and a focusgroup of a selection of women within the brand’s target audience. The conclusion isthat Victoria’s Secret, through its models, contributes to an unrealistic feminineideal that the study participants’ self-image was perceptibly affected by. Whileperception is personal and signs are context reliant, semiotics is not only useful foranalyzing visual communication but also as a tool that graphic designers can use forcreating ads with the consumer’s needs in mind.
