The development of sexuality in the child is a subject little discussed and full of cultural and social prejudices. This research investigated, dialectically, the development of sexuality in children with autism in educational settings. Autism, classified by the DSM-V (2013) as TEA (Autism Spectrum Disorder) is a theme that has gained social visibility and is increasingly occupying space in academic and scientific research. We aim to discuss theoretically, in the first chapter, the path that autism has historically traversed to become a clinical entity for psychiatry and psychoanalysis. Therefore, we present the historical course, about the mental illness, until the moment in the twentieth century, the existence of childhood psychopathology was recognized. In the second chapter, we deal with child sexuality and sexuality in autism from the point of view of psychoanalysis. For this purpose, we choose the fundamental concepts of psychoanalysis, starting with Freud. In the third chapter, we point out the history of sex education in Brazil, the legal achievements and inclusion policies aimed at people with autism, and we discuss the results of our field research conducted with the teachers of the Associação de Proteção aos Autistas de Dois Vizinhos - APADV. As the research method is the dialectical historical materialist, the historical and critical investigation about sexuality in the child with autism, is necessary for the understanding, the paths and the course of the studies on the child with autism, in the current molds. It is a research of empirical bibliographical and qualitative approach. Autism, because it is a topic permeated by taboos, generates questions and interests in different areas of knowledge. Sexuality, in turn, also shapes itself as a theme permeated by social conventions and historical taboos. We highlight, therefore, the challenge of an investigation involving subjects so socially debated: sexuality in the child and the child with autism. We emphasize that teachers, although reporting the manifestations of sexuality, in the child with autism, do not recognize such manifestations as having a sexual character, because they understand the child with autism as an asexual being, and because of the lack of knowledge about the concepts of sexuality and child sexuality. We conclude, in line with our research method that sexuality in the child with autism, is an ontological construct, and each child should be looked at and understood beyond a diagnosis restricted to the characteristics of autistic disorder. Therefore, there is a need for emancipatory sexual education training for the investigated teachers, with the intention that sensitivity and scientific knowledge contribute to looking at the child with autism in its entirety.

In this way, the paper has investigated the relationship between the aggressiveness and sexuality categories in adolescents at a school context, considering them interrelated in this research. Psychoanalysis, in its genesis, considers the relation of aggressiveness to sexuality in dealing with the drives of life and death, a basic concept on the construction of psychoanalytic theory developed by Freud (1856-1939). For this theory, aggressiveness is manifested from childhood, in the biological, psychological and social development of the individual, as explained by Freud through Sexuality. Pedagogy can rely on psychoanalytic theory to understand the link between aggressiveness and sexuality, in order to understand the adolescent subject in school routine. Dialectical historical materialism was adopted as a theoretical-philosophical method, which has made possible the comprehension of the investigated reality. This research was constituted in the field of qualitative-quantitative research, having as a methodology, bibliographical review and field research. We chose as research procedures, the bibliographic review, in theses and dissertations, resulting from the masters and doctorate courses of the stricto sensu programs of the Paraná’s state universities. We considered as subjects of the research, 17 adolescents between 13 and 15 years of age, and 11 teachers who teach these students in different knowledge areas. The application of semiopen questionnaires to students and teachers was the instrument used to collect data in the school environment. We identified the relationship aggressiveness-sexuality in adolescence, in the school context, from the theoretical knowledge psychoanalytic. In this way, we understand the continued formation for teachers as a necessary course, aiming at acting in emancipatory Sexual Education, which aims to promote the experience of sexuality in a healthy, responsible and autonomous way, since, we believe in the valorization of everyday relationships for effective of the respect and pleasure of living, primarily, in the school space.

A total of 83 teachers (03 males and 80 females) participated in the present study, most of them aged between 30 and 45 years, teaching in the fourth and fifth year of the public school, distributed in twenty groups. The elaborate Teaching Program was titled "What I answer? - Sexual Education Program for Teachers”, with 3 hours of duration, and its format was designed to standardize procedures and use the use of role playing technique. Participants responded to an instrument with problem situations on sexuality issues before and after training. In the end, they also answered an instrument for evaluating the components of the Teaching Program. The data were analyzed by means of parametric statistics between dependent samples (Test T), descriptive statistics and content analysis of Bardin (1970). The results showed that there was a statistically significant change in the level of comfort and capacity of teachers after the Teaching Program. The content analysis showed that the initial difficulties of teachers were embarrassing with questions about the sexual act, which declined after the Teaching Program, while the sexual behavior category was highlighted as the most difficult after the training. Regarding the evaluation of the Program, the best evaluated component was the Hot Seat technique. Thus, it was concluded that the proposed Program proved to be effective in helping teachers improve the level of ability and comfort to work on some themes of sexuality. The evaluation of the components of the program provided important data for possible reformulations of the program in order to assist professionals in working with this theme. This study showed that the structuring of teaching programs for teacher training produces behaviors relevant to the development of sex education in the school environment.

Exploration Towards Pleasure : Knowledge About Sexuality Produced With And For People With Intellectual Disabilities

Groh, Aline January 2017 (has links)
In both Western societies and academic research, the sexuality of people with intellectual disabilities is many times ignored or suppressed, often based on the assumption that people with intellectual disabilities are especially vulnerable and in need of protection. This study analyses the discourse produced by a Swedish sexual education material addressed to people with intellectual disabilities, that challenges this suppression by focusing on the role of the body and pleasure. The study shows that the alternative discourse addresses people with intellectual disabilities as being self-responsible for experiencing a pleasurable sexuality and is build upon two intertwined lines of argumentation: the importance of consent and the en couragement to embrace vulnerability. This thesis calls for more research that includes the sexual experiences and perspectives of people with intellectual disabilities to get a deeper understanding of the discourse’s development.

Sinhorelli, Mirian January 2020 (has links)
The approached methodology prioritized listening to adolescents, with affection, sexuality, disability and handicap as main categories of analysis, configuring itself as a qualitative research based on the descriptive approach. To this end, three workshops were held, with four young people who had Down Syndrome between 18 and 22 years old. Participants attend the Exclusive Specialized Service Center, in the interior of São Paulo. In addition to the discussion, we made use of drawings and images in everyday themes, contemplating aspects arising from non-verbal expression. The analysis of the data demonstrated the existence of a repressive sex education for some young people, despite the age group and biological constitution giving them conditions. However, the present research showed that many see their sexuality in a positive way. Thus, it was found that the values and attitudes related to affection and sexuality can be transmitted and assimilated by people with Down Syndrome, which favors learning in shared behaviors, making them socially accepted in the context they are part of. It is concluded that the cognitive limitation, when mild or moderate, does not prevent the realization of the insertion of programs related to sexual education, demonstrates priority, understanding that sexuality is present dimension during all human development,...

Maturana, Maria Fernanda Sanchez January 2020 (has links)
The Group is specific for monthly meetings of people with physical disabilities in which they exchange experiences in recreational spaces. Life History, when defined as a theoretical contribution, made it possible to establish a means in which people could, through playful dialogue, relive facts, experiences and events related to sexuality, identifying ways, looks, pleasures and sensitivities printed through bodies with disabilities. Data collection took place through open interviews (recorded in audio) without pre-established scripts, with two participants in the group. The interviews were developed until they reached a saturation point (exhausting the subjects) and then transcribed for data analysis. The results showed that the Group and the recreational meetings that it provides are very relevant in the life stories of the interviewees, in which they experience moments of leisure and learning through the experiences they exchange with the other participants. The interviewees declared that these meetings make them more motivated and confident in the face of their social and sexual problems arising from disability, thus, the importance of leisure in improving their quality of life and their life histories is explicit. / Mestre

Why might the published data on sexual assault against children not be reflecting the reality of lived experiences? : On the example of a community in Western Kenya.

Murawska, Marta January 2022 (has links)
In my essay, I have considered whether the data in publications on sexual violence against children reflectreality. I suspect that there are cases of child sexual abuse that goes underreported, and I try to investigate why this happens and the key possible reasons that lower the statistics. My essay focuses on the community in Western Kenya, yet I think the presumptions I made can be generalised and applicable to other contexts. I analyse material from research in Kisumu County and national data, and I support myself with information about child abuse from UNICEF. I name four key reasons why the data may not reflect reality: the taboo of being a sexual victim, economic dependency, psychological manipulation, and how society defines rape and sexual abuse. I use critical feminism as a framework to tackle the issue of a marginalised group of people.

Relationship Between the Sources of Sexual Reproductive Health Messages and the Sexual Agency of Second-Generation Migrant Ottawa Women: A Retrospective Cross-Sectional Study

Ali, Amina 13 January 2022 (has links)
The development of sexual agency in young women is essential. Adolescence can be a confusing time for many youths as they are forging their way into adulthood. This confusion can be especially difficult for second generation migrants (SGM), a group that are often faced with different cultural spheres when discussing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) topics. This exploratory retrospective study examined the relationship between their cultural affiliations, the sources of SRH provided to SGM girls during adolescence (10-17 years old) and their subsequent level of sexual agency (18-24 years old) as young adults. The sources examined were parents, siblings, friends/peers, teachers and the media. Sexual agency was measured using the Sexual Assertiveness Questionnaire (SAQ) and the Sexual Affect Scale. A small sample of 105 respondents participated in the online survey. The participants reported the media to be their highest-ranking source of actual SRH messages and friends/peers as their preferred source. SRH messages provided by parents and friends/peers were significantly negatively correlated with the overall sexual agency of the participants. The results also present the individual associations between the 14 statements for each of the sources and the sexual agency of the participants. Not being ready for sex was the most cited reason for abstinence and was significantly positively associated with sexual agency.
