Santana, Miguel Angel, 1966- 01 February 2011 (has links)
Homometries : Representations of Homosexual Desire in Spanish Golden Age Literature traces literary representations of homosexuality during this period. Traditional criticism is written from a perspective that reflects the heteronormative idiosyncrasy that permeates this literature. In my study, I interpret the authors' textual imaginings and how they manipulate hegemonic ideals of identity and sexuality to highlight overt or encoded attempts to subvert the concept of transhistorical heterosexuality. My study valorizes "anachronistic" queer literature. It differs from those in the 1990s by averting from the consideration of homosexuality as a recent "invention". I revisit Spanish Golden Age texts to illustrate how human relations in this era can provide the spaces where alternative sexual identities can take hold. I propose five imperatives, one, it is necessary to admit that these texts incorporate not only hegemonic ideals but all the intensities of human desire; two, when these intensities have to do with homosexuality they are registered in three levels: codified, embedded in a homophobic concept, or silenced; three, when the codification appears in a positive context it can be identified through the rhetoric of homoeroticism or masculine love (homosociality would be the asexual variation and feminine love its lesbian counterpart); four, homophobia can be recognized in condemnatory, moralistic, or mockery situations; and five, the language of the closet exists in textual suggestions, in what is not pronounced but can be identified. Each chapter deals with and elaborates on each of these imperatives, with Chapter 1 acting as the theoretical platform. Chapter 2 focuses on homoeroticism through the poetry of don Juan de Arguijo. Chapter 3 studies a feminine man in the episode of Leandra and Vicente in Don Quijote, here, I propose the term, "homoscapes" (homo-relieves) as the identifiable characteristics of hegemonic gender transgressions. In Chapter 4, I revise Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick's homosociality to show how homosexual relationships between men could have been maintained in La boda entre dos maridos, a Lope de Vega play. Chapter 5 analyzes homophobia and its representations in Celos con celos se curan, a play by Tirso de Molina. And, Chapter 6 deals with the interpretation of the language of the closet in El castillo de Lindabridis, a play by Calderón de la Barca. / text

The investigation – Images, mythemes and myths in “The princess and the seamstress” and Princess Joana: discursive constructions of sexual identities, research follows a qualitative approach and investigates how sexual dissidences reconfigure gender identities in children's stories. The central objectives are to examine the myths in the narratives of contemporary fairy tales and to verify if they can (de)construct some identities. It is also intended to problematize myths which can possibly produce identities, as well as to investigate how the ideas expressed in the stories can insert or exclude sexual diversity in the contemporary world. Another purpose of the research is to discuss the relationship between gender identities constructed in the stories and their socially pre-established roles, in order to analyze how the myth is proposed in contemporary narrative of fairy tales. The corpus of our analysis was made up of two fairy tales written by Janaína Leslão which were published in Brazil from 2015 to 2016. These tales were entitled The Princess and the Seamstress, and Princess Joana. The analysis of the texts followed the theoretical and methodological principles of the Anthropology of the Imaginary and the interpretations were subsidized by the scientific method named mythcritic as proposed by Gilbert Durand. The results indicate that there is a renewal of the myths that subsidize new identity constructions about sexual dissidences. A saber: A Princesa e a Costureira e Joana Princesa.

Une réalite complexe : sexualités entre hommes et prévention du sida au sénégal / A complex reality : sexualities between men and aids prevention in senegal

Gning, Ndeye Ndiagna 13 December 2013 (has links)
Men who have sex with men]. / This work is based on ethnography of experience of men with multiple sexual identities. In doing so, this work aims to articulate analysis of the socio-political context in which articulates the experience of homosexuality in Senegal than the regular ones discussed in this volume. The analysis of speech, writing and violence underlines the need to put the controversy over homosexuality in a broader political and historical context. The controversy over homosexuality in the public space is particularly related to colonial past, but also to the present context of contemporary Senegal. The backlashes against homosexuality since 2008 attest to the difficulty encountered men live an unorthodox sexuality and the existence of multiple sexual identities. These multiple realities must be understood as a result of representations made on sexual practices among men and the illegitimacy of these practices present in several sectors of Senegalese society. This logical concealment update problem that confronts a targeted prevention towards those named in the context of AIDS MSM [Men who have sex with men]. Different forms of violence and social inequality in which inserts the experiences of men with multiple sexual identities tell us about their relationship to sex (with men and women) and disease. In addition, ethnographic analysis can account for the multiplicity of experiences regarding homosexuality. It reveals varying degrees of knowledge and recognition of homosexuality in Senegal. This allows considering jointly experience of contempt and violence on one hand and forms of social recognition on the other.

Santos, Fábio Silva 09 December 2016 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This TCF presents a proposal of literary literacy for classes of Educação de Jovens e Adultos of Elementary School from the debate on sexual identities and the ambiguity as this theme is approached by Clarice Lispector in the book A via crucis do corpo (1974). This proposal advocates the selection of literary texts for EJAEF with the purpose of promoting actions with the objective of guaranteeing the deserved importance to literary literacy in the process of formation of these readers. Our proposal was built through a field research, in a public school in the state of Sergipe, in the year 2016, which explored the reading of sexual ambiguity in the stories of Clarice Lispector. At the first moment, we mapped the horizon of expectation of these readers; Secondly, we included the debate on the flexibilities of sexual identities from the study of the behavior of the characters; During the third part, we proposed the reflection of how the sexual identities are built in the social context of these readers. Methodologically, we applied the theoretical concepts regarding the formation of the reader: "literary identity", of A. Rouxel, "literary literacy" articulated by H. Cosson and C. Gomes, "literary reading" in EJA, defended by M. Cruz. With regard to the debate on the construction of sexual identity, we took as reference the studies of M. Foucault, G. Louro and S. Hall, since they defend the temporariness of identity with various possibilities of social reconfigurations. As a result of this research, we present the report of the reading experience that aimed to broaden the reader's expectation horizon regarding the flexibility of sexual identities. This was possible because the reader, from his cultural horizon, assumes the role of collaborator in the process of producing meanings for the literary work. Therefore, this work seeks to broaden the debate on pleasing methods to plan our classes of literary readings in the classes of the EJAEF.

Gagnon Chainey, Benjamin 07 1900 (has links)
Mots-clés : Hervé Guibert, sida, maladies, relation de soin, interdiscursivité, identités sexuelles / Polyphonic in nature, Hervé Guibert’s ‘AIDS writings’ – especially his two first volumes To the friend who did not save my life and the The compassion protocol – explore the effects of the disease on the suffering subject’s relations. In that sense, they weave together discourses, and modulate the author’s stylistic work to perform the ambivalence of relations between subjects – at times strange, paradoxical, and unsettling – as they jointly fight against the epidemy’s devastation. This is the case of relations to self (to one’s own body – and soul – as it decays), the often-ambiguous rapport to Others (whether caregivers, lovers, friends or parents), and relations to sociopolitical, scientific, and cultural challenges subjects face in their intimate combat against suffering, exclusion, and death (think of the ethics of medical body, the Authorities, and groups defending sick people’s rights). Is it possible to write retrospectively, today, the interdiscursive and inter-identity relations that were at the heart of Guibert’s writing? That gave a body and a voice to the contaminations at work during the ‘AIDS years’? How to write the contemporaneity of those relations to a suffering self, ambiguous and polymorphous? These intersubjective performances, at the heart to one’s relation to the Other: from care to fantasy, through pulsion of sexuality and death? Is it possible to invest, again, these struggles, both intimate and collective, against illness – against death within oneself, within the other, the other’s death within oneself – through the enmeshing of languages and discourses? Whether they are scientific, romantic, ethical, or literary? This creative portion of this thesis, Les amants funambules (The tightrope walking lovers), walks the thin line that connects together languages, to offer an answer to these question in the form of a interdiscursive and inter-identity performance: it is a collection of short stories that stretches, on the one side, towards Guibert’s ‘AIDS years’, and on the other towards a rhythmical stylistic research, ‘contemporaneous’ in its relation to the past. The essay, Sur le fil des langages (On the thread of languages), will continue walking forward on the interdiscursive rope, to contribute an essayistic performance regarding the sexual disorientation of patient Guibert: a young HIV-positive gay man of 35 years of age sees his sexual, personal, and social identities disseminate – as he relates with his own body, with that of his caregivers, his lovers, and his family – while his bodies continues its process of decay, as sickness confuses him, at the risk of making him fall from the tightrope of languages. In such a context, where bodies-languages threaten to tumble into the silence of death, may salute emerge from literature? Keywords : Hervé Guibert, AIDS, illness, care relationship, interdiscursivity, sexual identities
