No. of bitstreams: 1 SalernoFSS.pdf: 1043687 bytes, checksum: ea5c1000dc1ef3c9200e040e16a2da89 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2007-01-25 / With hardware and software technologies advance, it s also happenning modifications in the development models of computational systems. New methodologies for user interface specification are being created with user interface description languages (UIDL). The UIDLs are a way to have a precise description in a language with more abstraction and independent of how will be implemented. A great problem is that even using these nowadays methodologies, we still have a big distance between the UIDLs and its design, what means, the distance between abstract and concrete. The tool BRIDGE (Interface Design Generator Environment) was created with the intention of being a linking bridge between a specification language (the Interactive Message Modeling Language IMML) and its implementation in Java, linking the abstract (specification) to the concrete (implementation). IMML is a language based on models, that allows the designer works in distinct abstraction levels, being each model a distinct abstraction level. IMML is a XML language, that uses the Semiotic Engineering concepts, that deals the computational system, with the user interface and its elements like a metacommunicative artifact, where these elements must to transmit a message to the user about what task must to be realized and the way to reach this goal. With BRIDGE, we intend to supply a lot of support to the design task, being the user interface prototipation the greater of them.

Quatro pe?as foram analisadas: ?I Know This Room So Well? ? Lisa Bielawa (2007-9); ?Four Pieces for Oboe and Piano? ? Ernst Krenek (1966); ?In Freundschaft? ? Karlheinz Stockhausen (1978); ?Atem? ? As seguintes fontes sobre t?cnicas estendidas foram utilizadas como base de pesquisa: livros - Heinz Holliger?s Pro Musica Nova (1972); Gardner Read?s Compendium of Modern Instrumental Techniques (1993); Peter Veale & ClausSteffen Mahnkopf?s The Techniques of Oboe Playing (1994); e Libby Van Cleve?s Oboe Unbound: Contemporary Techniques (2004); e artigos Nora Post?s ?Monophonic sound resources for the oboe: Part I ? The objective of this work is to provide assistance to oboists interested in learning these techniques. Additionally, this work encourages the student, through the process of experimentation, to explore the questions that may arise around the aesthetics of sound, the concept of gesture as an additional visual and aural element in music, and the collaboration and ?real-time? creation processes. Discussed within the work, are the relationship between the instrument (the oboe) and extended techniques, and two possible definitions of extended techniques, provided by Luk Vaes (2009) and Gardner Read (1993). Also explored are the how and why some composers have utilized extended techniques in their compositions, including brief discussions relating to extended techniques in real-time composition (improvisation), extended techniques and technological resources, theatrical gesture as an extended technique, and suggestions of how musicians might approach theatrical gestures in performance. Four works were visited: ?I Know This Room So Well? ? Lisa Bielawa (2007-9); ?Four Pieces for Oboe and Piano? ? Ernst Krenek (1966); ?In Freundschaft? ? Karlheinz Stockhausen (1978); ?Atem? ? Mauricio Kagel (1969-70); and an exploration of the difficulties and solutions associated with each extended technique found within these pieces, was carried out. The following founding works on extended oboe techniques were used, as a basis for research: books - Heinz Holliger?s Pro Musica Nova (1972); Gardner Read?s Compendium of Modern Instrumental Techniques (1993); Peter Veale & Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf?s The Techniques of Oboe Playing (1994); and Libby Van Cleve?s Oboe Unbound: Contemporary Techniques (2004); and articles - Nora Post?s ?Monophonic sound resources for the oboe: Part I ? / Navigation, in both virtual and real environments, is the process of a deliberated movement to a specific place that is usually away from the origin point, and that cannot be perceived from it. Navigation aid techniques (TANs) have as their main objective help finding a path through a virtual environment to a desired location and, are widely used because they ease the navigation on these unknown environments. Tools like maps, GPS (Global Positioning System) or even oral instructions are real world examples of TAN usage. Most of the works which propose new TANs for virtual environments aim to analyze their impact in efficiency gain on navigation tasks from a known place to an unknown place. However, such papers tend to ignore the effect caused by a TAN usage over the route knowledge acquisition process, which is important on virtual to real training transfer, for example. Based on a user study, it was possible to confirm that TANs with different strategies affects the performance of search tasks differently and that the efficiency of the help provided by a TAN is not inversely related to the cognitive load of the technique?s aids. A technique classification formula was created. This formula utilizes three factors instead of only efficiency. The experiment?s data were applied to the formula and we obtained a better refinement of help level provided by TANs.

Multi-objective problems may have many optimal solutions, which together form the Pareto optimal set. A class of heuristic algorithms for those problems, in this work called optimizers, produces approximations of this optimal set. The approximation set kept by the optmizer may be limited or unlimited. The benefit of using an unlimited archive is to guarantee that all the nondominated solutions generated in the process will be saved. However, due to the large number of solutions that can be generated, to keep an archive and compare frequently new solutions to the stored ones may demand a high computational cost. The alternative is to use a limited archive. The problem that emerges from this situation is the need of discarding nondominated solutions when the archive is full. Some techniques were proposed to handle this problem, but investigations show that none of them can surely prevent the deterioration of the archives. This work investigates a technique to be used together with the previously proposed ideas in the literature to deal with limited archives. The technique consists on keeping discarded solutions in a secondary archive, and periodically recycle these solutions, bringing them back to the optimization. Three methods of recycling are presented. In order to verify if these ideas are capable to improve the archive content during the optimization, they were implemented together with other techniques from the literature. An computational experiment with NSGA-II, SPEA2, PAES, MOEA/D and NSGA-III algorithms, applied to many classes of problems is presented. The potential and the difficulties of the proposed techniques are evaluated based on statistical tests.

In order to propose a new technique for generating new crafts product ideas, this dissertation, which is part of a research project of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, through action research, intervened in three state communities artisans - Lajes Pintada, Massaranduba and Vera Cruz - to develop the artisans creative potential. Based on the techniques studied in the literature, we selected three techniques for interventions, composing two dynamics - one to improve features and functionalities of existing products, with the technique of SCAMPER; and the other to generate ideas for creating new products, with techniques Listing and Random Words / Figures. These latter techniques were not satisfactory in its objective by presenting constraints, not covered in the description, for the participant group. Thus, it was necessary to propose a new technique for the same purpose, the technique CREATION Clarify technique, Realized creativity, Explain, Apply for word, Think fast, Interpret, Organize ideas, Now evaluate, composed of twelve steps. To use the new technique requires that it be used by a dynamic that takes into account three phases: Planning, Application and Analysis. In the new technique application were generated around 30 ideas, regarded as new, in six sessions, from test pilot to interventions in artisans communities / A criatividade ? uma habilidade presente em todos os indiv?duos e uma das estrat?gias utilizadas para potencializ?-la ? por meio da aplica??o de t?cnicas de criatividade. The corpus of the research is constituted by the news of the period informed in the printed newspapers: Correio do povo and O Nordeste, both from Mossor?/RN, and the narratives presented in the cord?is de acontecido : Mossor? in the resistance to the group of Lampi?o; Lampi?o in Mossor? in 1927, and Mossor? attacking to the group of Lampi?o, all potiguar poets. The analysis of the texts had as theoretical background the studies of: The texts analysis had as theoretical background The Discourse Analysis; The Argumentation Theory and the studies about Discourse Genres. We focused our discussion in the emphasis given to the news in the discursive perspective of the social-historic memory constructed in the cord?is, from ideological values (political, economical, religious etc.) that pass to be a fundamental element in the constitution of the image of the resistance. Methodologically, this is a documental research, since it makes use essentially of the written document. Regarding to the nature of the data, the research is characterized as a qualitative one. In the analysis, we considered the argumentative techniques adopted in the defense of the thesis, the meaning effects suggested, and the genres mentioned, that revealed to us the manner in which the episode was informed by the newspapers and the cord?is. That way, we affirm, based on the positions assumed by the announcers of the genres analyzed who defended clearly positions in favor of the defense of Mossor?, that the relation between both is captured interdiscursively, since they are asked by the same ideology, and converge to the same discursive formation, defending identical positions, and structuring their discussions with resembling argumentative techniques, reason by which take us to believe that the discourse presented in that social activity demonstrates and develops traces of a manipulation of the subject.

Different treatment methods can be used to modify the topographic and chemical properties of titanium surface in order to optimize the tissue-implant reactions by a positive tissue response. This study aimed to evaluate the adhesion and proliferation of mesenchymal cells from human periodontal ligament on two different titanium surfaces, using cell culture techniques. Grade II titanium discs received different surface treatments, forming two distinct groups: polished and cathodic cage plasma nitriding. Human periodontal ligament mesenchymal cells were cultured on titanium discs in 24-well cell culture plates, at a density of 2 x 104 cells per well, including wells with no discs as positive control. Data obtained by counting the cells that adhered to the titanium surfaces (polished group and cathodic cage group) and to the plastic surface (control group), in the 24, 48 and 72-hour periods after plating, were used to analyze cell adhesion and proliferation and to obtain the cell growing curve in the different groups. The data were submitted to nonparametric analysis and the differences between groups were compared by Kruskal-Wallis and Friedman statistical tests. No statistically significant differences were found in the cells counts between the groups (p>0.05). It was concluded that both treatments produced surfaces compatible with the adhesion and proliferation of human periodontal ligament mesenchymal cells / Nos ?ltimos anos, v?rias pesquisas cient?ficas em Implantodontia t?m buscado alternativas que proporcionem maior rapidez e qualidade no processo de osseointegra??o.

Presents a experience of work of the performance construction where the conductor acts as mediator in the interpretative process, using as tool the extended techniques of two works: The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) and Intiner?rio de Passagem: Ver?nica Nadir by Silvio Ferraz (1959-). We used the action research methodology, considering that the interpretative approach is developed by the author of this research as a conductor and artistic director of the Orquestra Funffec de Cordas (OFC). The social context of the OFC includes a work which was developed since 2013 and it counts on the participation of young people with ages between 10 and 22 years old. This project has a technical base guided by the traditional methods on the teaching of written friction strings, mostly, in the 19th century. The purpose of this research is to identify the main difficulties encountered in the work of this repertoire in relation of the extended techniques, in the point of view seeks to explore the possibilities and available variables and trough this dialog and research, stablish a criterion to the interpretation. After the work of theoretical work and analytical articulation of the work, we established the process of the interpretative construction especially in what concerns the extended technique used by the compositors mentioned above. In this way, elements of the extended techniques were mentioned, such as its concepts and applications and the possible sound result. The communication on the rehearsal opened up space to the opinion of the young musicians on the attempt of stablish a process which its experimentations and conceptions of sonority could be applied on the process of interpretation and suggested repertoire.
