Developing Internal Communication in Fast-changing OrganizationsRajala, Inkeri January 2011 (has links)
Developing internal communication in fast-changing organizations is a current topic, which seems to exercise the minds of corporate people in different positions. Well-functioning internal communication and business success seem to be strongly linked. It motivates people, and only people who are motivated and enthusiastic about their work are able to perform well in their jobs and to secure the success of their employers. The purpose of this study was to increase the understanding of internal communications and how employees perceive it in fast-changing organizations. An understanding of internal communication and its development was searched by concentrating in selected essential internal communication areas in organizations, internal corporate communication function and internal communication channels. The focus was on fast-changing organizations due to the fact that the development of internal communication does not usually go hand in hand with other organization development and business growth but tends to drag behind. The theoretical framework was formed of internal communication in general, internal communication development, internal communication in fast-changing organizations, internal communication in different organizational areas, internal corporate communicationas a function and internal communication channels. The most valid internal communication areas were selected to be management communication, team and supervisor communication and interdepartmental communication. The theoretical framework presented the dilemmas and characteristics that can occur among the issue of internal communication development. In order to achieve the determined objectives, a quantitative study was conducted. The survey named “Internal communications at the company x” with three different forms of questions was carried out in the case company. The topic was scrutinized from theperspective of a case company and aimed to find out employees’ perceptions. The web-based survey focused on the selected issues concerning internal communication and its development. Questionnaires were sent out to the employees of the case company’s European organization and 94 responses were received. The collected data was analyzed against the theoretical framework, and with the help of analysis conclusions and managerial implications regarding this study were drawn. It was discovered that by developing these internal communication areas together, fast-changing organizations succeed better in internal communication and consequently in other operations. In fast-changing organizations, careful attention needs to be paid especially to the amount of management, supervisor and interdepartmental communication. Communication especially about company situation and financial and sales situation should be increased. Employees value open, systematic, clear and well-organized communication. Development of interdepartmental communication processes is vital in order to improve knowledge sharing across the company and consequently business performance. It is essential that all members of work community understand their responsibility to communicate. Internal corporate communications function should teach that and provide good communication tools for all employees, especially intranet, e-mail and possibilities to face to face meetings and versatile feedback sessions. Efforts to equalize communication between locations, departments and teams need to be taken.

Efektivita intervence sociomapování u vybraných charakteristik pracovních týmů / The effectivity of sociomapping intervention for selected charateristics of work teamsTetour, Vlastimil January 2019 (has links)
Diploma thesis strives to identify the effectiveness of sociomapping in relation to selected charakteristics of work groups and teams. Literature review section defines the theoretical background of group and teamwork, which is being followed by the topics of team states and processes, team communication, mental models, team climate and teamwork effectivity. The final part focuses on team interventions, ways of evaluating their effectiveness and introduces specific aspects of sociomapping. The empirical part uses quantitative research approach, which analyzes the relationship between the method of sociomapping and its effect on the frequency of team communication, shared mental models in the form of the difference between the optimal and current frequency of communication and team climate. The sociomapping intervention is expected to have an effect on team performance in the form of higher hotel rating and team performance assessment. Both values were measured before and after the intervention. It is expected, that the frequency of team communication, the difference between optimal and current frequency of communication and team climate will behave as mediators. The results showed that sociomapping intervention is positively related to hotel rating (p = 0.014), but not to team performance...

Efekt týmového koučování využívajícího sociomapování / The effect of sociomapping based team coachingFabianová, Ivana January 2020 (has links)
(in English): This dissertation seeks to verify the impact of sociomapping-supported team coaching on team climate and performance. Sociomapping, created in the 1990s to visualize team communication, plays here a role simultaneously as the main diagnostic and intervention tool. The theoretical part focuses on the teams and psychological analysis of such team aspects as size, roles, composition and the formation and development of teamwork. Attention is further paid to team coaching and sociomapping-based intervention. One chapter analyzes the relevant team processes according to available concepts, with a subsequent analysis of team performance and climate as two teamwork outputs relevant to the study. Due to the specificity of team data analysis, the last chapter discusses teamwork analysis models. The empirical part presents a study of 103 respondents divided into and conducted on nine intervention and 12 control teams. The teams worked together on team projects for about three months. The intervention groups were supported by team coaching that involved sociomapping, while the control groups only attended meetings to discuss current work topics. The teams in both the control and intervention groups were sociomapped a total of three times, but only the intervention teams were presented with these...

Daily stand up meetings - hiss eller diss? / Daily stand up meetings - hit or shit?Stedt, Lotten, Vutolen, Cajsa January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of the study is to describe how agile teams experience digital DSM and to elucidate whichtechnical and social needs that are met and/or missing. Following themes were examined: how digitalDSM was implemented in practice, what technical tools were used and what social impact digital DSMshad on the team. To give direction to the study, three research questions were formulated with threeassociated hypotheses based on previous research. The hypotheses that were formed were; (H1) in digitalDSM, more than the three central questions were discussed, (H2) functions that simulate the physicalworkplace are essential for a functioning digital DSM and (H3) reduced informal communication inremote work is compensated by time extended digital DSM. The study was conducted by collecting datafrom a web-based survey that was provided to several agile teams with the help of gatekeepers. Thequestionnaire consisted of both qualitative open questions and quantitative multiple-choice questionsbased on Theory of distances (Bjarnason et al., 2016), a compilation of intergroup theory and previousresearch. The results show that there are small differences between traditional and digital DSMs. Hybridvariants, reduced informal communication and lack of comprehensive features were considered to be thegreatest challenge with digital DSM. The benefits were experienced differently depending on the personalcharacteristics of the respondents. The conclusions of the study were that there were no technicalfunctions to back the visibility of emotions and body language, but that functions such as screen sharing, gave a common picture of the project. The informal communication needs to be actively included indigital DSMs which makes digital DSMs more protracted than traditional ones. Further research can focus on virtual meeting rooms as part of the solution to the identified problems

Den digitala arbetsplatsen : En kvantitativ studie om produktivitet vid arbete hemifrån / The Digital Workplace : A quantitative study on productivity when working from homeYansan, Bilguun, Larsson, Kristoffer, Benites Brutar, Anton January 2023 (has links)
A digital workplace has become increasingly common, and many companies are now offering their employees the opportunity to work from home either full-time or part-time. The rapid rise of working from home has raised questions about the productivity of employees when working from home compared to working in the office. Companies are trying to develop strategies to adapt to this new way of working. The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that affect employee productivity based on the following research question: What factors influence productivity in a digital workplace? To answer the research question, a quantitative study was conducted in eleven different Swedish companies where employees are offered the option to work from home. By collecting data from the participants, univariate and bivariate analyzes were conducted to determine correlations between different factors and productivity. The results of the study revealed four identified correlations that influence productivity when working from home. These correlations are categorized into two main categories: workspace environment and communication. Within the workspace environment, factors such as access to appropriate technology and ergonomic workspaces were identified as important for increasing productivity. Within communication, the importance of clear and effective communication between employees and management was revealed to maintain productivity in a digital workplace. By understanding these factors, companies can develop strategies to create an efficient digital workplace. This study contributes to the knowledge of productivity when working from home and helps organizations improve their workspace environment for working from home. Further research can deepen the understanding of the different factors and identify measures to increase productivity in a digital workplace.
