Úpravy a prezentace Pražského hradu v období první republiky / Adaptations of Prague Castle in the Time of the First Czechoslovak RepublicMěchura, Petr January 2016 (has links)
Adaptations of Prague Castle in the Time of the First Czechoslovak Republic The main subject of this thesis is to analyse one of the latest stages of the development of Prague Castle. The extent of the changes the historic core of the Czechoslovak state went through in the time of the first Republic is comparable only to the Theresian reconstruction in the second half of the 18th century, which unified the appearance of the castle and had a definite impact on the panorama of Hradčany. The period between 1918 and 1938, called the first Czechoslovak Republic, is connected with the development of a new democratic state. To offer a complete picture, the building activities in the area of Prague Castle shortly before 1918 are summarized as well; in some cases it was inevitable for the understanding of the modern reconstruction to insert short overviews of the whole building history. The analysis and the attempt to evaluate the mentioned important stage in the development of Prague Castle are based on a detailed study of the building activities that originally followed different goals. These activities concerned various parts of the castle and can be divided into three groups according to architects and builders: Kamil Hilbert, Josip Plečnik and Karel Fiala. The characters of the structures and of the...

Le château et la ville d'Amboise à la fin du Moyen Age et au début de la Renaissance (1421-1525) : architecture et société / Amboise (1425-1525) : the Castle and the town from the late Middle Age to the early Renaissance : architecture and societyGaugain, Lucie 21 May 2011 (has links)
This thesis presents a multidisciplinary approach, it consists in the study of topography, of buildings, thanks to layouts, and of the existing accounts and iconography. Because the architecture has changed a lot it has required analyzing both the castle and the town. From 1463, Louis XI’s huge magnificent project had repercussions on the economy and the development of this small “bridge-Town”. In 1498, the building sites were set up and the town was to become a city but Charles VIII’s unexpected death stopped its expansion. However, this dynamic building period, over 40 years, has to be considered as an experiment of new architectural forms which would impact princely buildings in the early Renaissance.

Previous issue date: 2018-03-01 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The relationship between a work of fiction and empirical reality is much more intense than is sometimes thought. A work of science fiction can portray, for example, in a symbolic way, subjects of the reader's daily life. Thus, we talk about science fiction as a writing of ideological power and its ability to reflect social and political issues, for example, discussing about our world without representing it directly, but through artifice such as time travel and parallel universes. Thus, our general objective is to evidence the commonly unrecognized depth of the genre "science fiction" through the study of The Man in the High Castle, by Dick (2012), as well as The Grasshopper Lies Heavy, a meta-fiction book present within the work of Dick (2012), evaluating its relations with the reality observed outside the work of fiction, and the different reactions of its readers and the reasons why. In making use of the methodological tools of Literary Theory and interdisciplinary dialogue, we first contemplate the study of fiction, with authors such as Eco (1994), Perrone-Moisés (2006) and Wood (2011), and science fiction, with Jameson (2005) and Roberts (2002), as well as the biography of Dick, to present then the novel The Man in the High Castle. Then, a historical study of World War II, based on Fidelis and Rito (2011) and Fiorani (2009), showing its relevance to the construction of the work of fiction, and enter into discussions of society, culture and borders in the work of Dick (2012). Later, we study two works of literature in The Man in the High Castle, which are the I Ching, a real book, and The Grasshopper Lies Heavy, a fictitious book, to evaluate the reactions of the readers of this second work according to their national and ideological differences. Finally, we observe a last novum in Dick's work (2012), which expresses once more the possibilities of the genre of science fiction.

Les bains privés dans l’architecture civile française (1515-1774) / Private Baths in French Civil Architecture (1515-1774)Bouttier, Ronan 25 March 2017 (has links)
The theme of spaces dedicated to bath is a hardly defined subject, well studied by historians, but which had to be broached through the history of architecture. This field of study has focused for decades to analyse the layout and the ways of inhabiting in the great residences of modern times. A study on an extended period of time was necessary to understand the subtle changes of forms and uses of bath rooms. This study is defined by two turning points in the history of French architecture: on one hand the accession of François Ier in 1515, whom inaugurated an ambitious artistic politics, in particular for royal residences; one the other hand the end of the reign of Louis XV in 1774, furthermore the year of the death of Jacques-François Blondel who was a defender of an architectural classicism inspired by the Grand Siècle. This study is based on a catalogue of monographic notes incorporating the wide-ranging aspect of the housing, from palaces to houses. The sources of the history of architecture and the study of the construction of remaining baths made possible a definition of spaces typologies and ways of inhabiting. In order to make clearer the use of spaces, the study was enlarged to the history of medicine and mentalities.
