Poručenství / Tutorship (as type of guardianship)

Macháčková, Natálie January 2017 (has links)
Tutorship (as type of guardianship). The thesis deals with a guardianship, with the most important historical milestones in a guardianship evolution and with the guardianship legislation in the Czech Republic taking into account guardianship legislation in the Federal Republic of Germany. Through the guardianship is provided alternative legal protection of legally incompetent minor lacking necessary legal protection. The aim of the guardianship is ensuring an appropriate alternative legal protection of ward's legal matters. The thesis is dividend into two parts and eight chapters. The first part is devoted to the most important codifications which in my opinion influenced the development of the guardianship on our territory the most. The first part deal with guardianship legislation in the Roman law, provincial and municipal law, in the General Civil Code and marginally about guardianship legislation contained in the Act of family law and in the Family Code. The second part of the thesis deal with guardianship legislation in the Czech Republic taking into account guardianship legislation in the Federal Republic of Germany. The second charter is devoted to the term guardianship and to the sources of guardianship legal regulation in the Czech republic. The core of the thesis consists of the third to eighth...

Undersökning av virtuell verklighets varningars effektivitet utifrån spelarens perspektiv : En studie om hur effektiva virtuella verklighetsvarningar är för att förhindra användarskada / Investigating the effectiveness of virtual reality warnings from the player's perspective : A study on how effective virtual reality warnings are in preventing user injury

Månsson, Marcus January 2023 (has links)
This essay examines virtual reality warnings in relation to immersion. Immersion is the engagement a player feels from playing a game and can be characterized as the degree or level of engagement the player has with various aspects of the game. This area is important to research because players of virtual reality games can be hurt if the warnings do not work as intended. This essay has examined the pros and cons of the warnings that Quest 2 gives to the players of Beat Saber, Blade & Sorcery and Gorilla Tag in relation to immersion. Toresearch the pros and cons of warnings issued by Quest 2 to Beat Saber, Blade & Sorcery and Gorilla Tag players, a heuristic evaluation was conducted to identify issues which were then further investigated with a survey and interviews. Data from the heuristic evaluation, survey and interviews were triangulated to find pros and cons of the warnings from a security perspective. Based on the research, it became clear that current warnings help the players, however, there are opportunities for improvement. Based on the results, design guidelines for VR warnings were created. It is intended that these design guidelines should be used as aid when designing VR warnings. If the design guidelines are used, it is more likely that the risk of user injury is reduced, however, further testing is required.

The Guardians framställning av Roman Abramovitj : En tematisk analys av gestaltningen av Roman Abramovitj i dagstidningen The Guardian

Safdari, Satar, Ukpebor-Itua, Bradley January 2022 (has links)
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine thrust Vladimir Putin and his alleged associates into the spotlight by global news organizations. The oligarch Roman Abramovich who was the owner of the football club Chelsea FC, was considered to be one of Putins allies. This caused british journalism to begin to scrutinize him. The aim of the study was to find out how The Guardian depicts Roman Abramovich. Our method was an inductive approach with thematic analysis to interpret and thematize The Guardians content. With this approach, we managed to discover how The Guardian depicted Roman Abramovich. The results showed that Abramovich’s name gave The Guardian an opportunity to criticize different social stakeholders. The study also found that Roman Abramovich was depicted negatively by The Guardian.

The Power of Algorithms : The Use of Algorithmic Logic and Human Curation at The Guardian

Rebecca, Schmidt January 2015 (has links)
Algorithms are part of most online activities but act largely in the background and remain hidden to the general public. They are programmed pieces of software that are designed to consume massive amounts of data and progress it into easy consumable pieces of information. Furthermore, that software is able to draw connections between pieces of information and filter it based on relevance or other criteria. What these criteria are and what they are based on often remains a well-kept secret. Companies such as Facebook, Google, Twitter and Netflix all use algorithms to make sense of the ever-increasing amount of Data and suggest posts, movies or search results. With more and more people getting their news stories trough social media platforms and search engines, algorithms play an important role in the way we receive news. That lead to the questions of what power algorithms have over the news we see and what power they have over news organisations and journalism. To answer these broad questions, it was decided to focus on one large news organisations and examine what role algorithms play. The news organisation chosen for this research was The Guardian. In order to investigate these how and if algorithms are used, interviews with eight experts working at The Guardian were conducted. The informants were developers, engineers, product managers, editors and journalists in order to get a broader spectrum of possible frames in place. So as to analyse the interviews, tables were created to understand the way algorithms in relation to the institution of The Guardian and the power of editors were framed by the interviewees. One of the results that could be observed through the interviews and analysis was that algorithms will play an increasingly large role in The Guardian and possibly share their influence with editors. It can also be found that technology and news organisations will become more and more intertwined and data from users will be collected and analysed. The last part of the thesis discusses the impact of the results in a broader context and what further research can be done.

Procesní postavení osoby neznámého pobytu ve světle "Nařízení Brusel I" / Procedural position of a person whose domicile is unknown in light of "Brussels I Regulation"

Širůčková, Pavlína January 2015 (has links)
Procedural position of a person whose domicile is unknown in light of "Brussels I Regulation" One of the results of the removal of obstacles that previously used to prevent EU citizens from moving into another member state is, among others, an increase in the number of contracts entered into with nationals from other member states. Connected therewith there has been an increase in the number of cases involving a foreign element taken before courts of the member states. Many of those cases are in fact brought against persons whose domiciles are unknown. To be precise, in practice it is defendants on whom it is not possible to serve the process and at the same time the court has no information regarding their domiciles. Not only is it impossible to find out whether they are in the Czech Republic, but the question is whether they are in the EU at all. In such a case it is necessary to consider whether it is possible to apply the rules of Brussels I Regulation, whose operation is based on the principle of domicile of the sued party, for the determination of jurisdiction in proceedings against such defendants. Besides this basic issue the paper also deals with the assessment of whether it is possible to apply, in the proceedings against a person whose domicile is unknown, domestic institutes which are...

Description and analysis of the public guardian and conservator program in Multnomah County, Oregon

Wyers, Dianne 01 January 1978 (has links)
The law and the public programs designed to implement the intent of the law should serve as a model for the way in which needs are met in our society. With this view in mind, a study of the Public Guardian and Conservator program has been undertaken. This study is the first written description of a young program designed to offer unique services to legally incapacitated persons. Public guardianship and conservatorship evolved from an early notion that a guarantee of rights is a public as well as a private responsibility. The question of the extent of public responsibility required as well as implementation will be examined.

The third sector : the missing piece of the brownfields puzzle

Lytle, Zachary John 04 December 2013 (has links)
The US Environmental Protection Agency defines brownfields as “real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant.” The existence of brownfield presents enormous challenges for cities across the United States. This report explores the possible roles nonprofits can play in brownfield development. As part of this investigation, the problems and opportunities brownfields offer socially, environmentally and economically are examined through literature review. Further on, three existing brownfields-specific nonprofit corporations are discussed through case studies. Each of these organizations The Guardian Trust, The Brownfields Stewardship Fund, and The Center for Creative Land Recycling, provide unique services facilitating the redevelopment of brownfields across the country. The lessons learned are then applied to the City of Dallas. The report concludes by exploring the potential roles the third sector could play in the redevelopment of brownfields in Dallas. With increased involvement, nonprofits can help convert brownfields back to their highest and best use for the benefit of the community. / text
