Löfgren Böjeryd, Elin, Stigenberg, Moa January 2015 (has links)
Background: The elderly population is increasing in society and within this group there are older people described with extensive care and nursing needs that often mean moving to a nursing home. The individual’s needs for care and nursing should be met within these nursing homes, and it should also bring quality of life for the elder. Perceived quality of life is individual but influenced by, for example, physical and mental health. Purpose: The purpose with this literature review was to describe what is of importance for quality of life for the elderly living in nursing homes and to describe the samples in the studies. Method: Descriptive literature review with a compilation of 13 scientific articles that describe studies of both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Systematic literature search were made in the Cinahl and PubMed databases. Results: Quality of life of elderly people living in nursing homes were described being affected by many different parts. Relationships with family and friends, meaningful activities to do, the relationship to nursing staff as well as the environment and the accommodation were all instances that had an impact on quality of life. Conclusion: Quality of life for the elderly living in nursing homes is a complex system where many parts play a major role and which these parts are, is determined by the individual. Experience and descriptions of social relationships, physical activities, personalization, good health and a safe environment are that all these parts are to be included and are significant for their quality of life in nursing homes. Listening to the elder person and to take into account his or her description and individual preferences is an important part of improving the work on quality of life.

L'impensé de la maltraitance : du désaveu à la répétition institutionnelle en gériatrie / The impensé of the ill-treatment : from the denial to the institutional repetition in geriatrics

Guibert, Emile 02 March 2013 (has links)
The objective of this research was to show how the institutional’s unthought of elder abuse derives from a specific modality of the pact of denial called pact of disavowal, by defeating ethics and precipitating the subjects of the institution in a formal act repetitive phenomenon. Our argument revolved around two major themes: around a central axis on disavowal and a transverse axis centered on repetition. It considered as the correlate of the disavowal.Examination of the action of this operator through the uncanny and the construction of metonymic-metaphorical of Double, has shown the existence of a pact of disavowal, and the issue of its use when the object is abuse in a geriatric institution: conceal the existence of abuse; exclude liability of the act; cover the participation of caregivers in institutional abuse. The existence of a double disavowal could be highlighted: a denial of the word of resident bound by circularity to a disavowal of the act of abuse. Both disavowals proved to be secondary in the sense of witnessing a repudiation original: the disavowal of the law. The original disavowal based on a fundamental reality: the loss of autonomy up to the high dependency. The first axis of our thesis necessarily leads to consider an additional field: professional ethics in evaluating the effects and consequences of this disavowal we mentioned. The Ethics Review has led to the hypothesis of a hit of this, correlated with the operation of disavowal. The second line of research cross with our problem and that the phenomenon of repetition of the act of abuse is the correlate, helped highlight how binding the institution rushes his subjects in the repetition in the action of disavowal which inhibited the construction of memory, resulting in not putting elder abuse in the past.

Salvador

No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2003-08-29Bitstream added on 2014-06-13T20:42:33Z : No. of bitstreams: 1 finato_mss_dr_mar.pdf: 860914 bytes, checksum: d440e61537ff3084f32251ff6cb15df3 (MD5) / A longevidade da espécie humana tem sido pesquisada mundialmente com objetivos diversos. / The longevity of human specie has been worldwide researched with different objectives. With the knowledge about the biological, psychological and sociological implications of aging, society could look up for the people health, leisure, culture and education conditions, and while improving the intergeneration contact, decrease prejudice against the elder, allowing the knowledge about the cultural tradition to be learned and multiplied by the youth. This study proposed to investigate if the Universities for the Elderly (UNATI) could work as an emotional and social support network for its students. It was evaluated, by two instruments that measure attitudes, the networks that could work as emotional and social supports. Students chose kids, husband and grandchildren as the emotional support network, and for extension, brothers-in-law and brothers. In difficult situations, prayer and faith were important supports. Deceased dear relatives were supporting memories, too. As the social network, doctors, neighbors, employees, friends from UNATI and its professors, monitors and co-ordination, were referred to be important supports in their lives. The conclusion of this research was that UNATIs were considered an important social support network.
