Lima, Francielle de 09 April 2014 (has links)
Submitted by Ana Guimarães Pereira (agpereir@ucs.br) on 2014-11-18T15:28:02Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissertacao Francielle de Lima.pdf: 7847818 bytes, checksum: 7ffa92e986096a4ba4afe0b2e3be3de4 (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2014-11-18T15:28:02Z (GMT). Thus, supposing that in the constitution of this binomial, each of its constitutive elements contains a wide and dynamic conceptual spectrum, woven by different theoretical biases, which were built in diverse historical contexts, the research aims at answering the following questions: Which would be the concepts of tourism, and the epistemological-pedagogical presuppositions contained in the adjective “pedagogic”? Would these concepts and presuppositions be discussed on scientific literature with focus on “pedagogic Tourism”? From this viewpoint, this work has the aim of identifying/explaining conceptual configurations of the expression “pedagogic Tourism” in theoretical or theoretical-practical assumptions which are present (and accessed) in scientific literature (in which pedagogic Tourism is studied), considering, on one hand, conceptual approaches of tourism, and, on the other hand, relations which are established between epistemological and pedagogical models. In this sense, systematization will be provided, in time and bibliography, considering methodology of production in Brazil, as well as knowledge about it – or, more specifically, an analytical-conceptual vision of those who study tourism. This qualitative and bibliographic explorative research analyzes, through an hermeneutical approach and methodological operational cuts, twelve articles published between the years of 2005 and 2012, in scientific Brazilian journals and/or those which were presented in scientific events consolidated in the area of Tourism, in which title appears the expression “pedagogic Tourism”. This analysis was done based on the process of elaboration of a definition, as Garcia (2006) presents it. According to it, this is a predicative proposition composed of: Term (definiendum), Copula, Gender (genus), and Differences (differentiae). After the process was followed, it was arrived to a definition of pedagogical Tourism, to which a number of authors converged. From this, it was done an interpretative synthesis, identifying conceptual configurations of tourism, as well as pedagogical-epistemological assumptions which would be adjacent to them. This study led to the discussion of the name of the activity at school. It also evidenced repeated “conceptual errors” in this combination’s approach. This leads to signs of the importance of discussing conceptual configurations related to pedagogical Tourism, mainly those which remain in time, as well as theoretical conceptions followed by some incongruence related to their epistemological-pedagogical bases, and links established by school practice.

I-hub @ Pretoria station square : orientation through architectural intervention

Seabrook, Andrea Lynn 09 December 2009 (has links)
The proposal is to design an information and orientation facility, in the vicinity of Pretoria Station. The proposed design will involve a building that seeks to orientate a tourist/commuter on entering the city, whether it is for the first time or on a daily basis. The resulting environment will provide facilities for informing, waiting, relaxing, communication, eating, planning and other travel-related rituals. It is to be a hub of social activity that interacts positively with all users and passers-by, serving as a backdrop for everyday activities that occur at Pretoria Station. Was Tut Man Wenn...: A Teaching Manual on the Banking, Postal, and Telephone Systems of Germany / Was Tut Man Wen...: A TEACHING MANUAL

Langgartner, Adrienne Elizabeth January 1994 (has links)
This work is formally titles as a Project. / The focus of this project is on an area that appears to have been lacking in the teaching of German as a foreign language. The teaching of practical business knowledge and knowledge of everyday lifestyles has been limited to specific areas of study in most German language courses and related textbooks. The practical topics that have been covered in the German language classroom are those of value mainly to tourists. These topics are transportation, accommodation, shopping, and restaurants. Practical matters regarding finances and communication have been superficially covered. Therefore, the purpose of this project was to incorporate information on the finance and communication systems in Germany into a package for use in the foreign-language (FL) classroom. The major part of this project was the research conducted in Germany, and the preparation and the writing of the manual. The remainder of the project deals with a discussion on the relevance of the manual's content, the reasoning behind the manual's format, and use of the material in the manual and related authentic materials in the classroom. The information incorporated into the manual was gathered in Germany from interviews with personnel at each of the three institutions, from publications and forms used by each institution, and from trade magazines. The information in the manual is presented in a 'userfriendly' format in English. Relevant German terminology is provided in strategic locations to enable the reader to learn the concepts without being overwhelmed by the terminology. The reader's ability to speak German was also considered in the preparation of the manual. A basic grasp of German is desirable for the reader, however the information contained in the book can still be of use to people with no background in the German language. A draft of the manual's banking chapter was tested in a second-year German classroom, at the secondary school level. The test and its results are discussed in the theoretical portion of this work. / None / Master of Arts (MA)

Education, training, manpower planning and the persistence of manpower shortages : the case of Thailand’s tourism industry

Prasirtsuk, Wannapa 05 1900 (has links)
Although manpower and educational planning have been used in some developing countries for a considerable time to ensure an adequate supply of qualified manpower for the economy, the problem of manpower shortages still persists. An analysis of the reasons underlying the presumed failure of planning processes to ensure adequate supplies of qualified manpower for individual sectors of the economy forms the basis of this study. The issue was examined through an examination of the case of one specific sector of Thailand's economy: the tourism industry. In particular, the study sought to ascertain whether the shortages are the result of problems with the national manpower and educational planning models or whether they reflect issues intrinsic to individual economic sectors. The study draws on the literature in three areas: manpower planning, the relationship between manpower and educational planning, and employment and manpower development planning in the tourism industry. To explore possible explanations for the persistence of manpower shortages in the Thai tourism industry, two kinds of data were used: documentary and interview data. The interviews were conducted with three groups of key informants: employers in the tourist business, providers of tourism education and training, and senior government officials who are involved in manpower and educational planning. A total of 85 people in four tourist centres in Thailand were interviewed. The analysis of the data confirms that there is a mismatch between manpower demand and supply in the Thai tourism industry with demand significantly surpassing supply. The study concluded that there are limitations in the manpower and educational planning models, and that there is a lack of some of the conditions required for their optimal functioning, but that the mismatch between supply and demand in the Thai tourism industry is more fully explained by features intrinsic to the industry itself. A Abstract balance between manpower demand and supply in any sectors would be improved by having manpower planning at the macro level well meshed with educational planning, and by developing linkages between two levels of planning: the national and industry level. More importantly, however, within the industry itself, those involved have to take a planning stance by diagnosing the way their own sector operates and collaborating to rectify the problems they find. This study has implications for policy and improved practice of the planning, production and development of manpower required by the Thai tourism industry. It also has lessons for other sectors of the Thai economy as well as other developing countries.

« The World is touristic and large». Theoretical and methodological notes on tourism geography in current times / «El mundo es ancho y turístico».

Hernández, Facundo Martín 10 April 2018 (has links)
The current stage of tourism development reaches global scale, playing a «tourist village» in places that, through various qualities, have optimal conditions for entering the market of tourist destinations. In each component of the «World’s Geography» part, lurks the possibility that a museum, architectural, coral reefs, waterfalls, through deserts, abandoned nuclear plants or cemeteries, are transformed into tourist resources. This article aims to account for the powers presents the geographical discipline to intervene in the study of the tourism phenomenon. To this end, the convenience of combining the theoretical and methodological approach to enrich a geographic perspective on tourism that is not limited to mere description.
