Cette thèse initiée en octobre 2013 s’attache à comprendre en quoi les événements politiques survenus en Égypte entre 2011 et 2016 ont pu peser sur les trajectoires individuelles et les registres de l'action collective des Égyptiens installés en France. À partir d'une sociologie des migrations égyptiennes en France, ce travail ambitionne plus largement de comprendre comment un événement peut influencer les trajectoires individuelles de ceux qui n'en sont pas directement témoins. Inscrit à la croisée d'une sociologie des migrations et d'une sociologie de l'action collective, ce travail interroge le poids et les rôles des mobilisations à distance. L'enquête de terrain multisituée (durant laquelle des entretiens et des observations ont été menés dans les villes de Paris, de Marseille, mais aussi dans plusieurs localités égyptiennes), inscrit ce travail dans la lignée des travaux portant sur les formes de politisation par l'événement et contribue aux études sur la participation politique à distance. / Initiated in October 2013, this thesis aims at understanding how the 2011 and 2016 political events that occurred in Egypt may have weighed on both individual trajectories and collective action registers of the Egyptians living in France, more specifically in Paris and Marseilles. Starting from a sociology of Egyptian migrations in France, this work more broadly aims at understanding how an event can influence the individual trajectories of those who are not first-hand witnesses. At the crossroads of a sociology of migration and a sociology of collective action, this work questions the weight and roles of remote mobilizations. The multi-site field survey (during which interviews and observations were conducted in Paris, Marseilles, and several Egyptian localities), inscribes this work in line with works on forms of politicization by the event and contributes to studies on long distance political participation.

Le contexte social et politique post-apartheid est marqué par la reconfiguration des inégalités selon des lignes plus sociales que raciales, et non par leur réduction. En conséquence, l’écart entre les ambitions et les réalisations du projet de Transformation est le cadre actuel d’énonciation de discours publics sur la « Black Middle Class », vue comme un symbole de la métamorphose attendue et promise par l’ANC depuis le début des années 1990. La thèse met en perspective ces discours pour aborder la question suivante : Quels sont les ressorts et enjeux des identifications au « milieu » de l’espace social dans le contexte de la Transformation post-apartheid ? L’objet d’étude est construit théoriquement comme un « milieu réel » (différent de la « middle class »), et empiriquement, autour de « ceux du milieu » (« amaphakathi » en isizulu) dans l’entité géographique et sociale du « Black Johannesburg ». L’analyse est conduite à partir de données primaires (entretiens et séjours longs en observation participante) et secondaires récoltées entre octobre 2010 et octobre 2014. La 1ère partie explore les identifications exogènes (conditions économiques et politiques, catégorisations raciales et sociales passées et contemporaines), puis, la 2ème partie analyse les expressions du positionnement social subjectif de « ceux du milieu » et leurs « mises en pratiques ». Ces pratiques sociales se trouvent « consacrées » – tout en consacrant le « milieu » comme groupe social – par des politiques publiques (comme celle du « gap housing ») qui ciblent une catégorie du « milieu ». / The post-apartheid social and political context is marked by a reconfiguration of inequalities according to social rather than racial lines, and not by their decline. Consequently, the gap between the ambitions and the achievements of the Transformation project is the current frame of enunciation of public discourses on the “Black Middle Class”, seen as a symbol of the long-awaited metamorphosis that was promised by the ANC in the beginning of the 1990’s. The thesis puts these discourses into perspective to tackle the following broader question: What are the components and stakes of identifications in the “middle” of the social space in the context of post-apartheid Transformation? The object of study is theoretically constructed as an “actual middle” (distinct from the “middle class”) and empirically crafted as “those in the middle” (“amaphakathi” in isizulu) in “Black Johannesburg”. The analysis is based on secondary and primary sources (interviews and long-stay observations) gathered between October 2010 and October 2014. The first part explores the exogenous identifications (economic and political conditions, racial and social categorisations past and contemporary). The second part look at the ways “the ones in the middle” position themselves and puts their identity “in practices”. These social practices happen to be “consecrated” – whilst consecrating the “middle” as a social group – by public policies (such as “gap housing”) which target a “middle” category.

Réfléchir sur les processus de transformation des significations de la préservation du patrimoine culturel au Brésil, à travers l'observation de la législation urbaine, le paysage politique de la ville, et analysé les trajectoires des sujets sociaux insérés dans des projets de transport urbain, architectural et la gestion des programmes et des agences de conservation, dans les instances locales, provinciales et fédérales. Il construit un réseau d'informateurs de la vérification des inter sujets institutionnels de préservation et de la planification urbaine. L'objet d'étude se situe dans l'univers des sujets et à identifier les récurrences qui caractérisent l'imagerie de planification de la conservation et la préservation de planification logique. Prendre comme objet d'une analyse des récits biographiques et les discours sur ces sujets au progrès technique et politique qui exige la préservation des biens culturels. Permanent au sein des sciences sociales appliquées, la recherche s'appuie sur le cadre théorique et méthodologique de l'aménagement urbain et régional, en particulier la sociologie urbaine et l'anthropologie urbaine sociale. Cette approche théorique et méthodologique est fondamentale pour comprendre les chemins pris pour l'analyse de la valeur imaginaire identifié dans la délégation de certaines marchandises, des espaces et des pratiques politiques, ainsi que les sujets de recherche à venir et les groupes sociaux dans ses processus de conflit négociation et de la crise. Par la crise, nous comprenons qu'il est construit comme une stratégie visant à légitimer les interventions. Le conflit, à son tour, est motivant pour la physique et social. L'observation des modes de technique de jeu et les niveaux politiquement distincts de gouvernement publices, qui se manifeste dans l'effort quotidien des rôles et des espaces de construction de l'action et l'intégration nous amène à réfléchir sur la transformation des formes, les principes régissant arrangements sociaux et des groupes dans l'environnement urbain, en particulier en ce qui concerne la culture pour maintenir villes. / Esta tese trata da transformação do conceito da preservação do patrimônio, da sua noção ligada às práticas sociais e às políticas urbanas, vistas a partir do cotidiano dos sujeitos nelas envolvidos. Reflete sobre os processos de reavaliação dos sentidos desse conceito central através da observação da legislação urbana, do panorama político da cidade analisada e das trajetórias sociais de sujeitos inseridos em projetos de reabilitação urbana, arquitetônica e gestão de programas e órgãos de preservação, nas instâncias municipal, estadual e federal. Constrói-se uma rede de informantes a partir da verificação das interrelações institucionais de sujeitos da preservação e do planejamento urbano. O objeto de estudo está compreendido no universo desses sujeitos e na identificação de recorrências que caracterizam o imaginário da preservação no planejamento e das lógicas do planejamento na preservação. Toma-se como foco de análise as narrativas biográficas e os discursos desses sujeitos acerca do fazer técnico e político que pressupõe a preservação de bens culturais. Situando-se no âmbito das ciências sociais aplicadas, a pesquisa vale-se do aporte teórico-metodológico do Planejamento Urbano e Regional em diálogo com a Sociologia Urbana e com a Antropologia Social Urbana. Essa aproximação teórico-metodológica é fundamental para a compreensão dos caminhos assumidos para a análise do imaginário identificado na delegação de valor a determinados bens, espaços e práticas políticas, bem como na investigação próxima de sujeitos e grupos sociais em seus processos de conflito, negociação e crise. Por crise, entendemos que ela é construída como estratégia de legitimação das intervenções. O conflito, por sua vez, é motivador para as transformações físicas e sociais. A observação dos modos de atuar técnica e politicamente em níveis distintos nas administrações públicas, manifestada no esforço cotidiano de construir papéis e espaços de ação e de integração nos leva a refletir, na transformação das formas, os princípios que regem arranjos sociais e coletivos no ambiente urbano, especialmente no que diz respeito à cultura de preservar cidades. / This thesis deals with the transformation about the concept of heritage preservation, their sense linked to the practices and urban politics, from the perspective of everyday practices of the individuals involved with them. Reflecting on the transformation process of the meanings of cultural heritage preservation in Brazil, through the observation of urban legislation, the political landscape of the city, and analyzing the trajectories of social subjects inserted in projects for urban revitalization, architectural and management of programs and agencies of preservation, in local, statical and federal instances. It builds a network of informants from the verification of inter institutional around the subjects of preservation and urban planning. The object of study is understood in the universe of subjects and on the identification of the recurrences that characterize the preservation’s planning imaginary and the logic of preservation. Take as the focus of analysis the biographical narratives and discourses about these subjects to technical and policy which requires the preservation of cultural properties. Situated within the Applied Social Sciences, this research uses an approach supported by theoretic-methodologic framework of the Urban and Regional Planning in a dialogue with the Urban Sociology and Urban Social Anthropology. This theoreticalmethodological approach is fundamental to understanding the paths assumed for the analysis of the imaginary identified in value delegation of certain cultural properties, spaces, and political practices, as well as a closest investigation around the subjects and social groups in its conflict and negotiations process and crisis. By crisis, we understand that it is constructed as a strategy to legitimize interventions. The conflict, in turn, is motivating for the physical and social transformations. The observation of the modes of acting technique and politically in distinctest levels of public government, manifested in the daily effort of building roles and spaces of action and integration lead us to reflect, on the transformation of the forms, the principles governing social arrangements and groups in the urban environment, particularly with regard to the culture to preserve cities.
