Batista, Fernanda Cristina Araújo 19 May 2015 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 Fernanda Cristina Araujo Batista.pdf: 7864963 bytes, checksum: b9d36ef4257be7deef5df5f8eba4bba0 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-05-19 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This thesis aims at analyzing the Brazilian TV series A Pedra d O Reino (2007), produced by Rede Globo and Academia de Filmes and directed by Luiz Fernando Carvalho, in relation to the novel that originated it, Romance d A Pedra do Reino e o príncipe do sangue do vai-e-volta (1971), by Brazilian writer Ariano Suassuna. Carvalho conceived the series as a way to honor Suassuna on his 80th birthday, to be celebrated on the day the last chapter was broadcasted, June sixteenth, 2007. Therefore, in spite of being free to change whatever he considered necessary in the novel in order to transform it into a TV series, he chose to keep the essence and the main aspects of the original text as he also dialogued openly and expressively with other texts and speech genres. For this reason, the theoretical framework we have chosen to work with is one about transtextuality: Gérard Genette s Palimpsestes: la littérature au second degré (1982), which explains and exemplifies the ways in which dialogs with other texts and/or genres can happen. However, because our corpus is a television adaptation of literature, the type of transtextuality examined by us more carefully is hypertextuality, along with the issue of the formal transpositions made by Carvalho: concision, excision, thematic extension and intramodal transmodalization. We are going to analyze transtextuality in the novel and in the TV series as we explain the effects of meaning created by the dialogs that appear in them. We are also going to study the composition of some scenes in both productions in order to find out what resources each author uses to express their own ideas, which might or not be similar to one another, especially when it comes to the construction of the character Sinésio, who is the narrator s cousin and nephew and is shown as ambiguous. On the one hand, Sinésio is considered a messiah by the narrator and the poor people from the outback of the Brazilian state of Paraíba, who compare him to the Portuguese king Dom Sebastião and to Jesus Christ; on the other hand, he is seen as a dangerous fraud by the rich local people, who believe him to try to fool the poor in order to drag them into taking part in the Communist Revolution under the direction of Luís Carlos Prestes.

Correia, Gabriel Costa 18 December 2013 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-06-02T20:23:15Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 5832.pdf: 2261692 bytes, checksum: ede99af3ddeae2cf732575bcfea3aea3 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-12-18 / Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos / The main goal of this dissertation is to introduce the alternate reality game as a new narrative for multiplatform. By new narratives are understood the forms of storytelling arising from the current development of digital technology; and for multiplatform the variety of means by which the contents of these stories can travel. For this main objective is reached, two main hypotheses are formulated: 1) ARGs are stories for multiple platforms using code-breaking with playful and narrative functions; and 2) they are developed from an intense transtextuality guided by pop mythology that flourished during the twentieth century. Based on this starting point, this thesis will examine two ARGs, Uncertain Zone and Why So Serious?, in a way that it contributes to the hypothesis that Alternate Reality Games are a native narrative form of convergence culture founded on an extensive base of pop culture references. In the chapter dedicated to Uncertain Zone will be listed the various media used during the performance of the ARG, that together with interviews with the developers and testimonials from participants will weave a more descriptive overview of how alternate reality games are composed as multiplatform narratives. In addition, a brief discussion on the playful and narrative functions of the code-breaking in ARGs will be outlined. With Why So Serious? the analysis will focus on the intense transtextuality that alternate reality games establish to what will be called pop mythology in this dissertation and in the relationship between ARGs and market. Incidentally issues related to participatory culture will be raised throughout the text, but without further reflection, since, worth reiterating, the main goal of this thesis is the demonstration of a contemporary narrative form from some elements previously submitted, this form is the alternate reality game.

Super-héros victoriens : la transfictionnalité dans The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, suivi de Fiction Party

Janvier-Jalbert, Francis 04 1900 (has links)
Transfictionnality, a concept close to that of transtextuality, is defined by Richard Saint Gelais as "the phenomenon by which at least two texts, from the same author or not, relate jointly to the same fiction, whether by resumption of characters, extension of a previous plot or sharing a fictional universe". This Master’s thesis in research-creation examines Alan Moore's and Kevin O'Neill's use of transfictionnality in their graphic novel The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (1999-2019), and more specifically their recycling of narrative material from nineteenth century Great Britain, which is marked by the Industrial Revolution and the imperialist policies of the reign of Queen Victoria. Our aim is to better understand how the characters of literature of the Victorian era are appropriated by the authors, transformed and recontextualized so as to criticize the culture and the society that first generated them. Fiction Party is a transfictive and autofictional narrative in which Francis, the main character, is mistakenly invited to a party in honor of fiction at Dracula's Castle. He meets countless literary characters from every country and every epoch, including Antigone, Meursault, Emma Bovary, Don Quixote, and the sheriff of Nottingham. During the festivities, however, a murder is committed, and these great literary characters must then solve the mystery and identify the culprit, in a tribute to the detective fiction of Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie.

Toro, Alfonso de 05 June 2023 (has links)
The essay describes the lectures of books and authors of Borges’ predilection with which he builds an anticanonical corpus, a canon of readers, a canon as result of the of desire of readings (A. López) contrary to the concept of canon by H. Bloom (The Western Canon 1994), and it shows that Bloom uses several fundamental terms from Borges about literature and canon like „strangeness” (or „spcriptible” according to R. Barthes), „awareness” or „transtextuality”, „power of contamination”, that is, the capacity of absorption of the literature of the past and the disposability of this literature to be recodified and to form, in that way, part of the canon. It concerns the power of irradiation of Borges in so far as Bloom considers him to be the author who „overtly absorbs and then deliberately reflects the entire canonical tradition”. Borges is the master of absorption in the occidental world of the 20th century and is defined as „the literary metaphysian of the age”. The essay shows how Bloom is developing a nomadic concept of canon that goes beyond his own ideology and that Borges is situated in the centre of his canon system.

Das Jahrhundert von Borges: Der postmoderne und postkoloniale Diskurs von Jorge Luis Borges

Toro, Alfonso de 26 September 2022 (has links)
Borges is one of the outstanding personalities of the 20th century not only as a writer, but as the founder and pioneer of central theories in the field of literary, cultural, translation (cultural translation/translatio), and historical sciences, and philosophy. Groundbreaking and highly innovative figures of thought and procedures such as those of Postmodernity and Postcoloniality, deconstruction, rhizome, trace, and différance. Borges cancels mimesis and replaces it with simulation and, related to it, replaces Fantastic by Anti-Fantastic (or with digital worlds) and replaces with intertextuality by anti-intertextuality (or transtexuality). The reader is confronted with an ‘adventure journey’ through different sign systems, which have lost their denotive power due to their centuries of repetition, which only allow the possibility of a search and no other possibilities of creating meaning, but only scatter meaning: In this search, the signifiers - often coupled to signifieds with a 'lure' function - are then exposed as being semantically empty.
