Espectroscopia do solo no Vis-IR: potencial predictivo e desenvolvimento de uma interface gráfica de usuário em R / Soil Vis-NIR spectroscopy: predictive potential and the development of a graphical user interface in R

Dotto, André Carnieletto 06 February 2017 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / This thesis presents a study of Visible Near-infrared spectroscopy technique applied to predict soil properties. The purpose was to develop quantitative soil information due to the demand of digital soil mapping, environmental monitoring, agricultural production and for increasing spatial information on soil. Soil spectroscopy emerge as an alternative to revolutionize soil monitoring, allowing rapid, low-cost, non-destructive samples sampling, environmental-friendly, reproducible, and repeatable analysis. To improve the efficiency of soil prediction using spectral data, several spectral preprocessing techniques and multivariate models were exploited. A graphical user interface (GUI) in R, named Alrad Spectra, was developed to perform preprocessing, multivariate modeling and prediction using spectral data. Hereby, the objectives were: The objectives were: i) to predict soil properties to improve soil information using spectral data, ii) to compare the performance of spectral preprocessing and multivariate calibration methods in the prediction of soil organic carbon, iii) to obtain reliable soil organic carbon prediction, and iv) to develop a graphical user interface that performs spectral preprocessing and prediction of the soil property using spectroscopic data. A total of 595 soil samples were collected in central region of Santa Catarina State, Brazil. Soil spectral reflectance was obtained using a FieldSpec 3 spectroradiometer with a spectral range of 350–2500 nm with 1 nm of spectral resolution. The outcomes of the thesis have demonstrated the great performance of predicting soil properties using Vis-NIR spectroscopy. Apparently, soil properties that are directly related to the chromophores such as organic carbon presented superior prediction statistics than particle size. Spectral preprocessing applied in the soil spectra contribute to the development of high-level prediction model. Comparing different spectral preprocessing techniques for soil organic carbon (SOC) prediction revealed that the scatter–corrective preprocessing techniques presented superior prediction results compared to spectral derivatives. In scatter–correction technique, continuum removal is the most suitable preprocessing to be used for SOC prediction. In the calibration modeling, excepting for random forest, all of methods presented robust prediction, with emphasis on the support vector machine method. The systematic methodology applied in this study can improve the reliability of SOC estimation by examining how techniques of spectral preprocessing and multivariate methods affect the prediction performance using spectral analysis. The development of easy-to-use graphical user interface may benefit a large number of users, who will take advantage of this useful chemometrics analysis. Alrad Spectra is the first GUI of its kind and the expectation is that this tool can expand the application of the spectroscopy technique.

Lundberg, Felicia, Nordin, Karin January 2022 (has links)
An increasingly number of people are using the internet in Sweden, but many of the elderly still do not use the internet. At the same time, the global population is aging. To counteract the digital exclusion that exists for the elderly, the purpose of this study is to find out how a website should be made more user-friendly for senior Internet users. This by focusing on text formats, fonts, and colors that seniors prefer to have on websites to increase the readability. To find out, a literature study has been done together with a questionnaire and an interview study. From this, a result is presented that shows which adaptations that are good to make to people where functions such as sight, hearing, memory, and coordination have deteriorated. The result mainly shows that there must be high contrasts between text and background, larger text is preferred that is not italicized or only consists of capital letters and that there should not be much text on a front page.

Designing UI for color correction and grading tools for the web-based program Accurate Video

Andersson, Frida January 2021 (has links)
Color correction and grading are processes when fixing colors in recorded footage in Post-Production. The process of the two mentioned is a mix of technical adjustments and creativity. Color correction adjusts the colors between the clips/scenes so they match and look as natural or unique as possible. Grading is about the process of enhancing the look of a footage to achieve a certain style, it is of a more creative nature.Today, color correcting and grading are performed using desktop applications. The process means that recorded material is sent to the colorist from the set where it is received and downloaded to the computer where the work is performed. When the processing is considered complete, it is sent back to the recording team. This could be considered time consuming, and this process could be improved by using Accurate Video which is a web based program. Today, there are no features for color correction and grading in Accurate Video. The aim of this study was to design a User Interface (UI) for color correction and grading tools for Accurate Video application that meet the goals and needs of the people in this field of work, i.e. colorists. Based on literature studies including design guidelines, studies of what existing professional editing programs look like and what Accurate Video looks like, as well as interviews with colorists, a prototype was developed.

Adaptable Information and Data Security Process : A Secure Yet Employee Friendly Process Proposal of IT Security Implementation in Organizations.

Ali, Mirza Maaz January 2017 (has links)
Organizations have been changing their IT structure due to several reasons such as merger of two companies, acquisition of one company by another or IT consolidation within a company. IT policies are one of the areas which get redefined during such changes. However the lack of test facilities, time, funds, or human resources and expertise for change assessment of reengineering IT infrastructure such as integration of independently working systems or switching from on premises IT resources to cloud based IT resources, can be left unassessed. The absence of forthcoming changes' assessment can cause trouble at many levels of any organization, depending on which business operation is affected. Since every employee with a workstation is an end user, it is safe to say that end users or employees are the target of those unforeseen impacts. This situation can be handled by a working process which is able to adapt the changes made to IT systems security. This thesis presents a process that highlights post change issues and can help organizations to adapt to the changes in the environment and minimizes highlighted issues hence called Adaptable Information and Data Security Process. A system or entity is adaptable if it can adapt to changes. The results of this research are derived by putting the proposed process in use to calculate monetary and time loss in any project using different variables. Those results can encourage and support middle management to propose investment in user training and local support staff when presenting their case to upper management. Our results show the loss of 0.24% of a 200,000 kroner project to be completed in 44 weeks due to lack of adequate training of technical staff and users training to use IT systems. Another dimension of loss is calculated to show 4.2 hour of time loss on top of monetary loss given a total of 44 weeks of project period. The proposal suggests that the calculations of those loses can help management invest the time and money on users’ training and onsite technical support which will result in less investment and long lasting results as oppose to conventional approach that is lack of users training and off shore support that may reduce expenses in short term but causes significant long term losses.

Framgångsfaktorer som påverkar skapandet av en användarvänlig försäljningsdashboard : En fallstudie på Two / Success Factors Influencing on the Creation ofa User-friendly Sales Dashboard : A Case Study at TwoTermin

Wehlin, Rebecka January 2020 (has links)

Coffeepot for Masochists : A Study in User-Centered System Design / Kaffepanna för Masochister : En studie i Användarcentrerad Systemdesign

Abbasi, Azad Ismail January 2015 (has links)
This master thesis is carried out in the field of “Human-Computer interaction”, more specifically the area “User-centered system design”. The focus has been on “usability” and useful graphical user interfaces. Current theories and definitions in the field have been considered. Literature studies contain well known authors and organisations in domains mentioned above; Jakob Nielsen, Donald A Norman and International Organization for Standardization ISO to mention some.  Another source for this work from which the theories and way of working have been used is the book “User-Centered System Design” written by Jan Gulliksen and Bengt Göransson.  The work started with a literature study followed by looking at methods to use. The next step was to do task and user analysis which followed by the development phase. The user has been given a central role in this project and, just as recommended, also been involved through the whole cycle. A useful method to get feedback from users, in addition to interviews and workshops, has been the “Heuristic Evaluation”.  The final result and conclusion shows that the user-centered system design is a powerful tool to adapt when designing and developing interactive user interface.

Frontal Alpha Asymmetry Interaction with an Experimental Story EEG Brain-Computer Interface

Claudia M Krogmeier (6632114) 03 November 2022 (has links)
<p> Although interest in brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) from researchers and consumers continues to increase, many BCIs lack the complexity and imaginative properties thought to guide users towards successful brain activity modulation. In this research, an experimental story brain-computer interface (ES-BCI) was developed, with which users could interact using cognitive strategies; specifically, thinking about the story and engaging with the main character of the story through their thought processes. In this system, the user’s frontal alpha asymmetry (FAA) measured with electroencephalography (EEG) was linearly mapped to the color saturation of the main character in the story. Therefore, the color saturation of the main character increased as FAA recorded from the participant’s brain activity increased above the FAA threshold required to receive visual feedback. A user-friendly experimental design was implemented using a comfortable EEG device and short neurofeedback (NF) training protocol. Eight distinct story scenes, each with a View and Engage NF component were created, and are referred to as blocks. In this system, seven out of 19 participants successfully increased FAA during the course of the study, for a total of ten successful blocks out of 152. Results concerning left (Lact) and right (Ract) prefrontal cortical activity contributions to FAA in both successful and unsuccessful blocks were examined to understand FAA measurements in greater detail. Additionally, electrodermal activity data (EDA) and self-reported questionnaire data were investigated to understand the user experience with this ES-BCI. Results suggest the potential of ES-BCI environments for engaging users and allowing for FAA modulation. New research directions for artistic BCIs investigating affect are discussed. </p>
