A transmission-error-based gear dynamic model : Applications to single- and multi-mesh transmissions / Modèle dynamique d'engrenages basé sur l'erreur de transmission : Applications à des transmissions simple et multi-étages

Sainte-Marie, Nina 09 December 2016 (has links)
Noise measurements have shown that helicopters main gearboxes highly contribute to the overall cabin noise. Gear mesh vibrations propagate through the shafts to the rolling element bearings and the casing which becomes a source of radiated noise. The latter is characterized by high-amplitude tones emerging from broadband noise whose frequencies lie in the range of maximum human ear sensitivity. In the context of continuous improvement in the acoustic comfort of helicopter passengers, it is therefore necessary to analyse and optimize gearbox vibrations in order to reduce casing noise radiations. The research work presented in this memoir is focused on the development of a numerical model dedicated to the prediction of gear system dynamic behaviour, comprising several gear stages and different types of gears. This model relies on classic beam and lumped parameter elements along with specific two-node gear elements for both cylindrical (spur, helical) and spiral-bevel gears. The equations of motion are developed based on time-varying functions representative of mesh excitations which comprise: (a) mesh stiffness functions, (b) quasi-static transmission error under load, and (c) kinematic (or no-load) transmission error. A number of comparisons with benchmark numerical and experimental results from the literature are presented which demonstrate that the proposed approach is sound as far as single-stage systems with spur, helical or spiral-bevel gears are considered. Validations are then extended to double-stage gears and, here again, it is confirmed that the proposed transmission error based formulation is accurate and can account for tooth shape modifications. In the second part of the memoir, several examples of application are presented and commented upon. First, the combined influence of tooth pitch errors and load on the dynamic behaviour of gear transmissions is tackled. An extended three-dimensional model and a reduced torsional version are then confronted in order to investigate the dependency between dynamic transmission errors and mesh force / root stress dynamic factors. Further investigations on bearing dynamic response in two-stage spur gear systems are conducted and the particular contributions of profile modifications are analysed. Finally, a system combining a cylindrical gear and a spiral-bevel gear is considered and particular attention is paid to the dynamic couplings between the various meshes and their influence on bearing dynamic responses.

Dresig, Hans, Risch, Thomas 27 February 2014 (has links) (PDF)
This work is assigned to vibratory conveyor engineering and is dealing with the operation principle of sliding conveying by non-harmonical accelaration along horizontal plane surfaces. The relations between motion of the conveyor organ and calculation of the resulting conveying velocity are explained in this paper. Finally, optimal motion laws regarding a high efficiency of the motion patterns are derived from the maximum conveying velocity.

Sonza, Anelise January 2014 (has links)
The vibratory stimuli generated by the use of vibrating platforms have been used as an effective method to promote sports performance and also in the rehabilitation of patients with several dysfunctions. It is believed that the whole body vibration (WBV) is able to decrease the deficits in voluntary muscle activation by neuromuscular stretch reflexes making it an efficient and easy exercise method applied to patients with greater disabilities. Controversial results in the literature regarding the benefits of the vibratory stimuli make the choice of the equipment parameters (frequency, amplitude, time of exposure and vibration mode) a challenge in getting the best results. The goal of this dissertation involves the evaluation of the acute physiological effects of whole body vibration (skin tactile and pain sensitivity, balance, skin temperature and vibration transmissibility) and the construction of a WBV perception body map. Parameters settings and different brands of these devices were used. To investigate each variable, four different studies were conducted separately. The first study investigated the effects of WBV on fast adapting mechanoreceptors measured at 30 Hz (Meissner corpuscles) and 200Hz (Pacinian corpuscles) and touch-pressure sensitivity from the right foot of 20 health subjects and the duration of the vibration effects on these receptors. The main results show that the afferent discharges of the fast adapting mechanoreceptors are strongly affected by vibration and sensitivity of touch-pressure was also impaired. After a single 10 minutes exposure to WBV, the time required to recover baseline tactile sensitivity on the feet was between 2 and 3 hours. To further elucidate the acute postexercise vibration effects, a second study was conducted assessing physiological variables at four different WBV frequencies (31, 35, 40, 44 Hz). Blood pressure, heart and respiratory rates, skin temperature and balance were measured. Skin temperature was measured by an infrared thermography of the lower limbs of 24 subjects. Balance was accessed with a force plate through the analysis of the center of pressure (COP) velocity, area and displacements variables. The results from this study show that for 40 and 44 Hz of the device’s frequencies, a significant decrease in balance was found for the center of pressure variables velocity and anterior-posterior displacement. Also, during WBV exposition and 10 minutes post vibration, the temperature of the lower limbs was reduced, probably due to vasoconstriction. To investigate the variable "pain", a third study was proposed, considering that the pathways and receptors of the cutaneous touch-pressure and vibration sensitivity differ from those related to pain sensitivity, the C and A fibers. A chronic pain model was applied in male Wistar rats and the animals were treated with WBV exercise (vibration platform), a low intensity exercise (treadmill) and a combined treatment involving both. The main results show that the groups treated with WBV showed a significant reduction in sensitivity to touchpressure after every session compared to the other groups. Analgesic effects through the time latency measured by the hot plate were found after the third treatment day with 5 min of exposure to WBV during the first 5 days and 10 min next 5 days. As completion of the fourth variable of interest, the last study by deriving quantitative data from accelerometry (with measurements on the head, hip and tibia) was combined with qualitative data arising from the Borg scale. Sixty five health young adults were measured and the study proposes a method for choosing the parameters settings of the vibrating platform, to achieve the desired goals in rehabilitation or sports performance. Discomfort perception ratings measured by the Borg scale corresponded well with the measured acceleration magnitudes and so the parameters settings of the device can be chosen based on the subjective sensation from the Borg scale. The level of discomfort ratings might be related to the frequency resonance phenomena of body parts. Future clinical applications with vibration platform in patients with muscle-skeletal chronic pain should be considered applying the model for choosing the parameter settings of the device proposed in this dissertation.

Contribution à l'étude du comportement mécanique et vibratoire des composites biosourcés incorporant des matériaux fonctionnels / Contribution to the study of the mechanical and vibratory behavior of biosourced composites incorporating functional materials

Daoud, Hajer 31 March 2018 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the study of the mechanical and vibration behaviour of a flax fibre reinforced composites with and without an interleaved natural viscoelastic layer. The composite materials have been characterized experimentally using different mechanical and vibrational tests. First, both types of composites were studied using uni-axial tensile and three-points bending tests. Acoustic emission (AE) has been often used for the identification and characterization of micro failure mechanisms in composites. The results showed that these composites have very high specific characteristics. It can be used for applications currently using composites reinforced with synthetic fibres such glass, carbon…. Next, experimental and finite element vibration analyses were carried out on the composites with and without an interleaved natural viscoelastic layer. A good agreement between the two methods was obtained. It has been shown that the viscoelastic layer plays a major role in damping because it has a high level of energy dissipation. Therefore, it improves with a significant way the modal properties of the composite. Finally, nonlinear resonance tests were performed on the composites. It has been shown that the viscoelastic layer generates a nonlinear behaviour in the material. The linear and nonlinear, elastic and dissipative parameters have been calculated to deduce finally that nonlinear parameters are more sensitive to heterogeneities than those derived from linear vibration tests.

Développement de portes-outils, d'outils et de modèles pour la maîtrise du perçage vibratoire / Development of tool holders, tools and models for control of self-sustained vibration drilling

Naisson, Pierre 06 September 2011 (has links)
Self-sustained vibration drilling offers the technological breakthrough needed to increase the performance of deep drilling. A special tool holder is designed to allow axial vibration, and comes as a spring mass system, whose characteristics are identified by the use of the theory of stability lobes. Identification of the geometric characteristics of an optimal tool requires the characterization of tribological aspects, mechanical properties of the machined material, and the definition of a proper edge preparation. Finally, this process is driven by the energy of the cut, and two types of effort have been identified. The Edge-Material-Pair Method is based on the discretization of the drilling thrust force during penetration phase, while the analytical approach can predict forces from a cut pattern identified from oblique cutting tests.

Návrh hydraulického okruhu pojezdu vibračního válce ASC 110 / Design of the hydraulic circuit of the ASC 110 vibratory roller drive

Novák, Martin January 2019 (has links)
This thesis presents a proposal of newly designed concept for travel hydraulic circuit of vibratory single drum roller ASC 110. The maximum machine gradeability was chosen as the main parameter for hydraulic circuit proposal. After selecting the new hydraulic travel concept, suitable hydraulic components have been selected. Length and local losses for two different machine speeds were calculated for sufficient hydraulic circuit design. Hydraulic losses have also been calculated for use in different climatic conditions. A new machine cooling concept has also been proposed. Heating and cooling curves of hydraulic circuit were calculated. For the purpose of comparing gradeability and energy balance of the newly designed travel concept compared to the existing one currently in mass production, both machines were fitted with measuring points. On both machines were measured for example, pressure, flow and temperature in each hydraulic circuit branch and others. From the time dependencies of the above-mentioned parameters it was possible to determine the energy efficiency of the newly designed concept. To assess the maximum gradeability, the slope of the hill was measured. Comparing the two machines, it has been found that the two hydraulic circuit solution has significantly improved traction properties in demanding machine applications, especially when driving uphill and downhill. This concept also affects less fuel consumption and places less demand on the hydraulic oil cooler due to its energy efficiency.
