Henningsson, Jonathan, Zhan, William, Eriksson, Sebastian January 2022 (has links)
In the traditional sense, information at museums is published in writing. In our work we shed light on how to visualize the same information with the help of film technology. We explore different alternatives regarding storytelling where an event from the past is mixed with the present day. How can information be conveyed through a visual perspective? This study has used a qualitative method as we do not strive for a measurable result but experiment in a specific area. To help in our exploration of areas, “The Good Eye” is used as an analysis method and literature studies as well as a semi-structured interview method. According to our interviews, the result was that visual information is conveyed more clearly to the viewer in relation to text, but there is a risk that the spectator misses important contextual information that cannot be displayed visually in a place, such as character background and object information. However, the majority preferred to be presented with something visual versus textual.

Bande dessinée et séquentialité : les formes de la narration par images / Comics and sequentiality : the forms of storytelling through images

Andreani, Nicola 28 November 2014 (has links)
This thesis focuses to question the very principle of sequentiality of still images, that is to understand how in Sequential Art this dynamic takes different forms, but at the same time, how Sequential Art can be differentiated from other Arts. This help us to understand why it became an autonomous art, why it has developed more than any other sequential art, how and when the Comic was actually created.Analyze the rise of the Comics means tracing a path through the works, authors and the basic movements, considering the new poetics, themes, techonologies, that have defined this. This work aims to identify works which form a connection between the Middle Ages and the Modern Age. A historical analysis, but also paradigmatic one, will help to better understand how Comics evolved, what influences have had other forms of art (such as painting, literature, theater or caricature) but, above all, which techniques and strategies have been implemented and have changed Comics toward a narrative system based on images.

How visual material is used to influence emotions and experiences in the moment : An analysis of nine Instagramposts on the topic wellbeing.

Melin, Matilda January 2021 (has links)

Visual Storybooks: Connecting the Lives of Students to Core Knowledge

Proud, Keven Dell 14 December 2012 (has links) (PDF)
In order to help students find connections to the Core Knowledge curriculum and the principles of Discipline-Based Art Education, the author uses narrative and visual storytelling in the form of altered books to make meaning and relate the lives of students to the art content. The author uses methods of action research to plan a curriculum intervention, work with the students to create their visual stories, reflect on his instruction along with student learning, and collect students' responses through surveys. The author also gathers data through the students' journals and artworks. Through the project the author is able to give students choices and help them turn their learning environment into art practice. Ultimately, the author improves and develops his teaching practice as a result of this project.

The Media Representation of Mental Health Awareness to Support Therapy and Recovery for Health Workers: : A Discourse Analysis to Break Mental Health Stigma

Nowfer, Rick Gianluca January 2022 (has links)
The mental health (MH) of health workers during the 2019 pandemic has been severely affected by the disruptive coping and heavy workload management of the Covid crisis. Critical emergency contexts trigger many MH issues and disorders in many health workers who do not have adequate tools and strategies to respond to MH threats when traditional medical methods cannot be provided. Given the successful recovery outcomes obtained against physical illness disorders through physical illness representations, this project was carried out to search for effective discursive strategies within visual representations applied to MH issues. Exploring improved MH representation techniques could lead to finding strategies for informing about the stigma and triggering self-therapy, self-recovery and self-regulation coping mechanisms in health workers against MH threats. This study used discourse analysis to explore four representative YouTube videos portraying health workers and MH issues. The findings show that visual representations, including audiovisual and prosodic elements, rhetoric and storytelling techniques, impact people's psychological and behavioural processes. Once medically tested, these resources could support health professionals and institutions as an extension of the existing scientific methods, treatment and tools dealing with MH issues. E-mental health and digital technologies, which use media representation, could represent the first step to trigger a much more extensive study and scientific debate on the complementary strategy of media representation for MH acknowledgement, therapy and recovery. Nevertheless, additional and more quantitative interlinked medical and media studies on MH issues and representation have to be carried out. Therefore, the need to investigate highlights the need for interdisciplinary collaboration between media and communication, traditional medical therapy research and the participation of all the actors involved.
