This masters dissertation consists of a theoretical and empirical exploration of the concept of spatial quality applied to the city of Porto Alegre by studying the evolution of its urban legislation. The theme is justified in the context of crisis in which is the current city where public spaces are occupied mostly by car to the detriment of social interaction activities, which end up turning to private spaces. In view of that fragmentation scenario, both from the point of view of the composition of space and the social point of view, this study provides a reflection on the spatial quality of the city, and as a working hypothesis the alleged interference that urban legislation would have on its evolution. Seeking argue around this issue, this dissertation aims to investigate the concepts and facts that led to the drafting of the set of urban laws in the city of Porto Alegre, reviewing the sociopolitical and spatial landscape that gave rise to them. The application of the regulations suggested as responsible for changes in Porto Alegre architecture will be at the end, exercised in comparing the two areas of the city resulting to different regulatory contexts.

Previous issue date: 2016-07-09 / With this study, I have the main objective to present the language policy vitality built by Karajá students of the course of Specialization in Intercultural Education and Transdisciplinary: pedagogical management, Federal University of Goiás, which make up the pedagogical political projects of the schools of Hawalò, Itxala and Btoiry. In it I discuss, first, the historical and social context of the Karajá people, in order to understand the complex universe, plural and specific experienced by these people in Brazil. The second chapter of this study has the objective to discourse about public policies on Indigenous Education in Brazil, from the Indian Protection Service, founded in 1910, until term of the 1988 Federal Constitution. In the third chapter, we
discuss the concepts of interculturalism and transdisciplinary in the process for specific differentiated indigenous education in order to understand how teachers and indigenous students experience these principles in the course of specialization, taking prospects to bring possibilities to recognize and appreciate other cultural and educational systems that will beyond the cultural hierarchy, language and education in the construction of educational policy projects of their schools. And finally, in the fourth chapter, we present the sociolinguistics situation of the mentioned villages, detailing the language uses realities of the Karajá people in their social spheres of linguistic and cultural production in these communities. It is important noting that the sociolinguistic study is authored by Karajá teachers and is the basis of creation of language policies that make up the pedagogical political projects of schools in question. For the presentation and study of these language policies, I support this research in Toral (1992), Pimentel da Silva (2001a, 2004), Walsh (2009), the pedagogical political projects the schools of the villages of Hawalò, Itxala and Btoiry (2014) and interviews with students graduating teachers of the specialization course. I intend, with this work, collaborate with research on language policies vitality of indigenous Brazilian languages, but also and especially with the training of teachers Karajá, providing them grants for study and reflection of contextualized methodologies and intercultural bilingual education to consider the uses and functions of their languages and other, such as the Portuguese language, both inside and outside the school in the process of oral communication and writing.

The aim of this study was to evaluate pulp oxygenation level (%SpO2) in patients with malignant intraoral and oropharyngeal tumors treated by radiotherapy (RT). Pulp oxygenation level was measured by pulse oximetry, which shows the amount of oxygen circulating in viable pulp tissue and is a physiometric method for assessment of dental pulp status. Twenty patients were selected and two teeth of each of them (n = 40) were analyzed, regardless of the quadrant and the area irradiated, at four different times: I- before RT; IIat the beginning of RT with radiation doses between 30Gy 35Gy; III- at the end of RT (60Gy 70Gy) and IV- after 4-5 months of the beginning of the cancer treatment. Mean %SpO2 in the different times was 93%, 83%, 77% and 85%, respectively. Students t test (p0.01) showed statistically significant differences between Time I and the other three times. Time III was also different when compared to Time II, and there was no statistical difference between Times II and IV. It was concluded that %SpO2 before RT was greater than that observed during and after therapy and, as values obtained in Time IV were close to those of Time II, pulp tissue may show normal blood flow after radiation therapy.

Česká komunita v Austrálii v transnacionální perspektivě / Czech community in Australia in transnational perspectiveHlaváčková, Tereza January 2016 (has links)
This study deals with Czech speakers in Australia, focusing on their use of the Czech and English languages as tools of belonging to a community. Its aim is to discuss the situation of Czech speakers on the continent from the perspective of a small Czech language in an English-speaking country. The starting point for the study is scientific publications on bilingualism, multilingualism and transnationalism issued in the Czech and English-speaking environments. Another source is books about the history of the immigration and language policies in Australia and about the Australian identity. Finally, the methods involve field research based on participant observation of groups of Czechs in social networks and during Czech church services in Sydney in November 2015. Fieldwork is also based on semi-structured interviews which took place in Australia between August 2014 and January 2016. They were intended to study the reality of Czech speakers in Australia and to illustrate the theories on the use of language by bilingual speakers in the Australian context. The first part of this study gives the theoretical background to the notions of transnationalism, belonging to a group, bilingualism and changes in language use. The second part focuses on language and immigration policies of the states of Australia...

Posouzení degradace opakovaně opravovaných střižných a tvářecích nástrojů / Examination of degradation frequently repaired shearing and forming toolsIzák, Josef January 2021 (has links)
The diploma thesis is focused on the renovation of forming tools made of tool steel, their weldability and assessment of the quality of tool repairs. The damaged tool was a part of the cutter from the progressive cutting tool made of Caldie steel. We used micro TIG technology to repair the damage. A total of three types of additional materials were used and investigated to restore the geometry of the damaged edge. One of the main purposes was to evaluate the possibility of extending the life of tools and reducing the implementation of already inefficient repairs. A number of destructive tests were performed for the assessment - macrostructure, microstructure, hardness measurement and EDS analysis.

A Vital Mind in a Vital Body: Integrating Yoga Practice into an Undergraduate Positive Education CourseMcAllister, Sarah 29 June 2023 (has links)
With the high prevalence of mental illnesses in university students worldwide, researchers are investigating the effectiveness of mental health practices geared toward this subpopulation. Two encouraging approaches to promote student well-being are positive education (i.e., the teaching of applied positive psychology) and yoga. Nonetheless, few researchers have studied the combined effect of positive education and yoga on mental health. Thus, the purpose of this study was to examine the immediate and prolonged impact of integrating a yoga program into a positive education course offered at the University of Ottawa on undergraduate students’ mental health, affect, self-compassion, and vitality. In this mixed method single case experimental A1BA2 design, seven volunteer students completed a two-week baseline (A1), followed by a six-week yoga program including two weekly virtual yoga classes (B), and another two-week baseline (A2; post-yoga), all while taking the positive education course. Trait variables (i.e., mental health, trait self-compassion, and trait subjective vitality) were assessed via validated questionnaires during the baseline phases preceding and following the yoga program, while state variables (i.e., affect, state self-compassion, and state subjective vitality) were evaluated immediately before and after one of the weekly yoga sessions. Participants also completed diary entries guided by open-ended journal prompts related to the outcome variables following one of the weekly yoga sessions. Differences in trait and state quantitative variables pre- and post-yoga were compared by means of visual, stability, level, and trend analyses, while the qualitative data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. Practicing yoga was found to improve all trait and state well-being outcomes, especially trait self-compassion and state subjective vitality, via greater pride, self-kindness, serenity, energy, and alertness. Results demonstrate that yoga and positive education mutually enhance university students’ mental health, affect, self-compassion, and vitality both immediately and prolongedly. This study addressed gaps in the literature and will help inform future implementation of yoga and positive education courses on university campuses.
