Análise da estabilidade de sistemas de potência via ATP e comparação dos resultados com o PSAT / Power system stability analysis using ATP and comparison of results with PSAT

Ferreira, Gislene Cristiane de Lima 20 September 2012 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This study had as main objective to perform the modeling and analysis of transient stability of a typical electric power system. The second goal, also important, was to assess the feasibility of using ATP (Alternative Transients Program) as a computer tool for simulation of transient stability. The system focused here is comprised of nine busses with three generators, one hydraulic and the other two with thermal characteristics. All the system machines were equipped with voltage regulators and speed governor in ATP software. The technical issues studied here refer to the analysis of system stability after a disturbance, such as: three-phase short-circuit, load loss and generation outage. The results show that ATP software performs satisfactorily the transient stability analysis. This fact can also be proved by comparing the results obtained from ATP with those from simulations with PSAT (Power System Analysis Toolbox). For this purpose some adjustments were necessary in the graphical results since ATP works in time domain while PSAT program operates in the frequency domain.

The interest in this matter is justified by the fact that much of the electricity produced worldwide is obtained with the use of synchronous generators. In this respect, studies have been proposed using conventional and unconventional control techniques such as fuzzy logic, neural networks, and adaptive controllers to increase the stabilitymargin of the systemduring sudden failures and transient disturbances. Thismaster thesis presents a robust unconventional control strategy for maintaining the stability of power systems and regulation of output voltage of synchronous generators connected to the grid. The proposed control strategy comprises the integration of a sliding surface with a linear controller. This control structure is designed to prevent the power system losing synchronism after a sudden failure and regulation of the terminal voltage of the generator after the fault. The feasibility of the proposed control strategy was experimentally tested in a salient pole synchronous generator of 5 kVA in a laboratory structure / A estabilidade de geradores s?ncronos conectados a rede el?trica tem sido objeto de estudo e investiga??es durante anos.

This master thesis proposes a wavelet-based power system stabilizer, composed of a new methodology for extraction and compensation of electromechanical oscillations in electrical power systems based on the scaling coefficient energy of the maximal overlap discrete wavelet transform in order to reduce the effects of delay and attenuation of conventional power system stabilizers. Moreover, the wavelet coefficient energy is used for electric oscillation detection and triggering the power system stabilizer only in fault situations. The performance of the proposed power system stabilizer was assessed with experimental results and comparison with the conventional power system stabilizer. Alves, Guilherme Henrique 16 September 2016 (has links)
The excitation control systems in synchronous machines must very quickly detect changes caused by load increase on the isolated generator and act on the excitation system in a rapid and efficient way in order to maintain terminal voltage at optimal desired levels. Unlike other works related with this area which used analog-based electronic circuits, this controller can in many case be built utilizing microcontrolled technology which is more efficient and flexible to implement different control strategies, as well as having a low cost of production. The approach of this research consists in a proposal to apply an automatic excitation controller, utilizing a PID control loop, including manual adjustments and monitorings of terminal voltage and stator temperature of the machine. It employs a PIC16F877A microcontroller from the Microchip Technology Company. The results obtained through practical tests in laboratory with a direct online start of induction motors (1 and 2 HP) on a 2 kVA generator show that the controller acts to recover the terminal voltage to the adopted setpoint in a reduced time. Finally, the results were also compared to the time of response provided from another well-known automatic voltage regulator found in the market, in order to prove the good control performance of this project. / Dissertação (Mestrado)

Estudos de desempenho dinâmico de geradores síncronos de produtores independentes em sistemas de geração distribuída via ATPDraw / Dynamic performance studies of synchronous generators of independent producers in distributed generation systems via ATPDraw

Peres, Larissa Marques 19 July 2013 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This work aims to analyze the dynamic performance of a synchronous generator and its controls in a distributed generation system, as well as evaluate the impacts of its operation when connected to the distribution grid, using for this task the ATPDraw interface/tool of software ATP. Within this context, it is firstly necessary to obtain suitable models to represent the synchronous machine control systems (voltage regulator, speed governor and stabilizer system) in ATPDraw. Furthermore, for stability analysis, it is developed a mathematical technique to calculate the machine power angle which is represented in ATPDraw by a device (icon). The adjustments of voltage and speed control system parameters are performed by some adopted procedures which are verified using two electric systems: the first one with a synchronous generator connected to the distribution grid; and the second with three distinct generators forming a multimachine system. In these systems some disturbances are applied such as load shedding and short-circuit to accomplish the studies. Finally, with the previous results, it is carried out some dynamic performance studies of a synchronous generator of an independent producer connected to a distribution grid so as to assess aspects of power quality (voltage magnitude), stability and to evaluate the influence of machine controls during the system response for a given load shedding.

Conception et intégration d'un convertisseur buck en technologie 28 nm CMOS orientée plateformes mobiles / Design and Integration of a buck converter in 28 nm CMOS technology for mobile platforms

Toni, Kotchikpa Arnaud 10 July 2019 (has links)
The topology of the converter is, at first, implemented in IBMCMOS 180 nm technology to validate the transient performances of the3 states regulator. The prototype in 180 nm, uses an input voltage of 3.6V and outputs a voltage in the range of 0.8V to 2V. Its response to load transients shows about 1% of undershoot and 2 % of overshoot, proving a good dynamic behavior for a simple structure compared to state of the art.The 3 states converter is then integrated in 28 nm CMOS HPM (technologymostly used for microprocessors desgn). The experimental results on the prototype confirm the performances in terms of energy and area savings, aswell as dynamic response. The chip delivers 0.5V to 1.2V from a 1.8V supply, and shows a 90% peak efficiency. The measurements of dynamic regulation show less than 5% of noise on the processor supply and 10 mV/ns outputvoltage switching for DVFS purpose.

Digitally assisted control techniques for high performance switching DC-DC converters

Khan, Qadeer Ahmad 25 June 2014 (has links)
Digitally controlled switching DC-DC converters have recently emerged as an attractive alternative to conventional switching converters based on analog control techniques. This research focuses on eliminating the issues associated with the state of the art switching converters by proposing three novel control techniques: (1) a digitally controlled Buck-Boost converter uses a fully synthesized constant ON/OFF time-based fractional-N controller to regulate the output over a 3.3V-to-5.5V input voltage range and provides seamless transition from buck to buck-boost modes (2) a hysteretic buck converter that employs a highly digital hybrid voltage/current mode control to regulate output voltage and switching frequency independently (3) a 10MHz continuous time PID controller using time based signal processing which alleviates the speed limitations associated with conventional analog and digital. All the three techniques employ digitally assisted control techniques and require no external compensation thus making the controllers fully integrated and highly cost effective. / Graduation date: 2013 / Access restricted to the OSU Community at author's request from June 25, 2012 - June 25, 2014
